4.48 And their number was eight thousand five hundred and eighty.

4.49 According to the word of YHVH he numbered them by the hand of Moses, every man for his service, and for his burden, and for their number, which YHVH commanded Moses.

5.1 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

5.2 Command the children of Israel, that they send out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath a running issue, and every one that is unclean by soul.

5.3 Both male and female you shall send out outside the camp, that they may not defile their camp, in the midst of which I dwell.

5.4 And the children of Israel did so, and sent them out of the camp. as YHVH spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.

5.5 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

5.6 Speak unto the children of Israel, when a man or woman shall commit any sin that a man committeth against YHVH, and that soul shall be guilty.

5.7 And they shall confess their sin which they have committed, and shall return their iniquity upon his own head, and add the fifth part thereof unto it, and give it unto him that hath committed the iniquity.

5.8 And if there be no redeemer to whom the guilty person may return the guilty person, the priest shall bring him to YHVH, besides the ram of the atonement, with which to make atonement for him.

5.9 And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the priest, shall be his.

5.10 And every man's holy things shall be his; whatsoever he shall give to the priest, it shall be his.

5.11 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

5.12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go astray, and go astray, and go astray,

5.13 And if a man lie with you, you shall lie with seed, and it be hidden from the eyes of a woman, and she shall be defiled, and he shall not be found.

5.14 And a spirit of jealousy came upon him, and he envied his wife, and he was defiled; or a spirit of jealousy came upon him, and he envied his wife, and she was not defiled.

5.15 Then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and bring her offering upon her, the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour. he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put any mortar upon it. for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, a memorial of iniquity.

5.16 And the priest shall offer it, and set it before YHVH.

5.17 And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel, and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle shall the priest take, and put it into the water.

5.18 And the priest shall set the woman before YHVH, and uncover the woman's head, and put upon her hands the memorial offering, which is an offering of jealousy. and in the priest's hand shall be the water of bitterness that causeth the curse.

5.19 And the priest shall make the woman swear, and shall say unto her, If no man hath lain with thee, and if thou hast not defiled thyself under thy husband, be thou clean from this bitter water that bringeth forth a curse.

5.20 And if you have gone astray under your husband, and have defiled yourself, and a man has given you his bed, apart from your husband,

5.21 And the priest shall make the woman swear by seven scepters, and the priest shall say unto the woman, YHVH shall make thee a scepter, and shall swear among thy people, when thou shalt give YHVH thy thigh to fall, and thy belly to be fat.

5.22 And this water that brings the curse shall enter into thy bowels, to cause the belly to rot, and thy thigh to fall. And the woman said, Amen, amen.

5.23 And the priest wrote the name of the Goddess in a book, and threw it into the water of bitterness.

5.24 And he made the woman drink the water of bitter that brought forth the curse, and the water that brought forth the curse entered into Miriam.

5.25 And the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and wave the offering before YHVH, and offer it upon the altar.

5.26 And the priest shall take of the offering the memorial thereof, and burn incense upon the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water.

5.27 And he sprinkled the water, and the mother became defiled, and went over to the woman, and the water that brought the curse entered into her, and her womb was cut off, and her thigh fell out, and the woman became an outcast among her people.

5.28 But if the woman be not defiled, and be clean, then she shall be clean, and shall have seed of seed.

5.29 This is the law of jealousy, when a woman goes after another woman, and is defiled.

5.30 Or if a spirit of jealousy come upon a man, and he be jealous of his wife, and he shall set the woman before YHVH, and the priest shall do to her all this law.

5.31 And the man shall cleanse himself from his iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.

6.1 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

12.7 Not so, my servant Moses, he is faithful in all my house.

12.8 I will speak to him face to face, in a vision, and not in dark sayings. YHVH will see. And why were you not afraid to speak to my servant Moses?

13.19 And what land he dwells in, is it good or bad? And what cities he dwells in, whether they be fortified or not?

13.20 And what is the fat land, or thin land? Is there a tree in it, or is there none? And ye shall be strong, and take of the fruit of the land, and the days are the days of the firstfruits of grapes.

13.21 And they went up, and passed over the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rahab, as thou comest to Hamath.

13.22 And they went up by the south, and came unto Hebron; and there Ahiman, Sheshi, and Ptolemee, the sons of Anak, were there. and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan of Egypt.

13.26 And they went and came to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel to the wilderness of Paran, the sanctuary, and brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.

13.27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and, behold, it floweth with milk and honey, and this is the fruit thereof.

13.32 And the slanderers of the land which you have spied out came to the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we passed to spy out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw among them are Midianites.

14.1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and the people wept that night.

14.2 And all the children of Israel lamented against Moses and against Aaron, and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

14.3 And why does YHVH bring us to this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? is it not better for us to return out of Egypt?

14.4 And they said each to his brother, "Let us give our heads and return from Egypt."

14.8 If YHVH delight in us, and will bring us into this land, and give it us, a land that floweth with milk and honey,

14.9 Only rebel not against YHVH, neither fear ye the people of the land. for they are our bread. remove the shadow from them, and YHVH is with us. fear them not.

14.10 And all the congregation said, Let us stone them with stones. and the glory of YHVH shall appear in the tabernacle of the congregation unto all the children of Israel.

14.11 And YHVH said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will they not believe me for all the signs which I have done among them?

14.15 And thou shalt kill this people as one man. and the nations which have heard the fame of thee shall say,

14.16 Because YHVH was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, he slew them in the wilderness.

14.17 And now, I pray thee, let the power of my Lord be increased, as thou hast spoken, saying,

14.18 YHVH is longsuffering, and of great kindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation.

14.19 Forgive, I pray thee, the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of thy mercy, and according to the kindness which thou hast shewed unto this people, from Egypt even until now.

14.20 And YHVH said, I have forgiven according to thy word.

14.21 But as I live, the glory of YHVH shall fill the whole earth.

14.22 For all the men who have seen my glory and my signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me these ten times, have not listened to my voice.

14.23 If they see the land which I swore to their fathers, and none of my enemies see it,

14.24 And my servant Caleb followed him, and another spirit was with him, and he followed me, and I brought him into the land whither he came, and his seed shall inherit it.

14.25 And the Amalekites and the Canaanites that dwell in the valley, tomorrow turn and journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.

14.26 And YHVH spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

14.27 How long will I hear this evil congregation, which murmur against me, and the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me?

14.28 And he said unto them, As I live, saith YHVH, surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do unto you.

14.29 In this wilderness shall your carcases fall, and all your young men, according to all your number, from twenty years old and upward, which ye have laid upon me.

14.30 If you come into the land where I swore to make you dwell, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun,

14.31 And your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have abhorred.

14.32 And your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness.

14.33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms until your carcases be consumed in the wilderness.

14.34 According to the number of the days in which you have searched the land, forty days, a day for a year, a day for a year, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my wrath.

14.35 I YHVH have spoken; if I do not do this to all this evil congregation, which are gathered against me, they shall perish in this wilderness, and there they shall die.

14.38 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, lived among those men that went to search the land.

14.39 And Moses told these words unto all the children of Israel. and the people mourned greatly.

14.40 And they rose up early in the morning, and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we are come, and will go up unto the place which YHVH said, because we have sinned.

14.41 And Moses said, Why do you transgress the command of YHVH, and it shall not prosper?

14.42 Do not go up, for YHVH is not among you, and you will not be defeated before your enemies.

14.43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword. because ye are turned away from following YHVH, that YHVH will not be with you.

14.44 And they hastened to go up to the top of the mountain. but the ark of the covenant of YHVH and Moses departed not out of the midst of the camp.

15.1 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

15.2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of your possession, which I give you,

15.3 And ye shall offer a burnt offering unto YHVH, or a sacrifice for a vow, or for a freewill offering, or for your feasts, to make a sweet savour unto YHVH, of the herd or of the flock.

15.4 And the sacrifice that he offereth his offering unto YHVH shall be a tenth deal of a pound of flour, with the fourth part of a hin of oil.

15.5 And the fourth part of a hin of wine for a drink offering shalt thou make for the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice for the one lamb.

15.6 Or for a ram you shall offer a meal offering of two tenth deals of beaten flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil.

15.10 And you shall offer for the priest half a hin of wine, a sweet savour unto YHVH.

15.11 Thus shall it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for one lamb, or for one goat.

15.12 According to the number that you make, so shall you make to each according to their number.

15.13 Every citizen shall do these things in this way, to offer a burnt offering of a sweet savour unto YHVH.

15.14 And if a stranger sojourn with you, or a sojourner among you throughout your generations, and make an offering of a sweet savour unto YHVH, as ye do, so shall he do.

15.15 The congregation shall have one ordinance for you and for the stranger. the stranger shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, as ye are, so shall he be before YHVH.

15.16 One law and one judgment shall be for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.

15.17 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

15.18 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,

15.19 And it shall be, that when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall raise up an heave offering unto YHVH.

15.20 The firstfruits of your harvest shall be a heave offering, as the heave offering of the grain.

15.21 From the beginning of your generations you shall give an offering to YHVH.

15.22 And if ye err, and do not do all these commandments which YHVH hath spoken unto Moses,

15.23 All that YHVH commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that YHVH commanded, and henceforth throughout your generations.

15.24 And it shall be, if it be done unwittingly in the sight of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto YHVH, and his offering, and his drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats for a meat offering.

15.25 And the priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it was an error. and they shall bring their offering made by fire unto YHVH, and they shall sin before YHVH for their error.

15.26 And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them. for all the people have erred in their trespasses.

15.30 And the soul that doeth presumptuously, whether it be of the countryman or of the stranger, the same blasphemeth YHVH; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

15.31 For YHVH hath spoken this thing, and hath broken his commandment, the soul shall be cut off. he shall bear the penalty thereof.

15.32 And the children of Israel were in the wilderness, and found a man gathering sticks on the sabbath day.

15.33 And they that found him brought him a bundle of wood unto Moses and Aaron and unto all the congregation.

15.34 And they put him in custody, because it was not known what should be done to him.

15.35 And YHVH said unto Moses, The man shall surely be put to death. all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

15.36 And all the congregation brought him forth without the camp, and stoned him with stones, that he died; as YHVH commanded Moses.

15.37 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

15.38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, They shall make them fringes upon the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and shall put upon the fringe of the corners a lace of blue.

15.39 And it shall be unto you for a talisman, and ye shall look upon it, and remember all the commandments of YHVH, and do them. and ye shall not turn after your own heart, and after your own eyes, after which ye go a whoring.

15.40 That ye may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

15.41 I am YHVH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am YHVH your God.

16.1 Then Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, took Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, the sons of Reuben,

16.2 And they arose before Moses, and of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the congregation, and famous men of the congregation,

16.3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye have done too much for yourselves. for all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and YHVH is among them. and why do ye lift up yourselves above the congregation of YHVH?

16.4 And when Moses heard it, he fell on his face.

16.5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Rise up, and YHVH will know who is his, and who is holy, and will bring unto him. and whomsoever he shall choose, he will bring unto him.

16.6 Do this. take for yourselves the torches of Korah and all his company.

16.7 And you shall put fire in them, and put incense on them before YHVH tomorrow. And it shall be that the man whom YHVH chooses, he shall be holy, and he shall be chief among you, you sons of Levi.

16.8 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear now, ye sons of Levi.

16.9 You are few in number, for the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of YHVH, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them.

16.10 And he shall bring near with thee, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee, and their request also, even a priest.

16.11 Therefore you and all your congregation, who are grumbling against YHVH, and what is Aaron, that we should complain against him?

16.12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and they said, We will not go up.

16.13 It is a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, for you have also brought us down upon us.

16.14 Neither hast thou brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, and hast given us inheritance of fields and vineyards, that the eyes of these men should be pecked out, that we should not go up.

16.15 And Moses was very angry, and said unto YHVH, Regard not their offering. I have not borne one of them, nor have I hurt one of them.

16.16 And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before YHVH, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow.

16.17 And take every man his censer, and put incense upon them, and offer before YHVH every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers, and thou and Aaron each his censer.

16.18 And they took every man his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense therein, and stood at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, with Moses and Aaron.

16.23 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

16.24 Speak unto the congregation, saying, Gather together Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, round about the tabernacle of the congregation.

16.25 And Moses arose, and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.

16.26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart ye now from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing that pertaineth unto them, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.

16.27 And Dathan and Abiram went up from the tabernacle of Korah round about. and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, and their sons, and their little ones.

16.28 And Moses said, By this ye shall know that YHVH hath sent me to do all these works; for it is not of mine own accord.

16.29 If these are numbered according to the number of all men, and the number of all men be numbered upon them, then YHVH hath not sent me.

16.30 And if YHVH create a creature, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, and all that they have, and they go down alive, then ye shall know that these men have provoked YHVH.

16.31 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the earth that was under them did cleave asunder.

16.32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the people that were in the land, and all their goods.

16.33 And they went down, and all that had life in them, and the earth covered them, and they perished from among the multitude.

16.34 And all Israel that were round about them sought to speak with them, for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.

16.35 And there came out fire from YHVH, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

17.1 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

17.2 He said to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, "Take up the censer from among the burnings and put away the strange fire, for it is holy."

17.3 And they took these sin offerings in their own souls, and made them into bases of brass, ready for the altar. for they offered them before YHVH, and sanctified them, and they were a sign unto the children of Israel.

17.4 And Eleazar the priest took the brazen censers which the seraphim had offered, and brought them up to the altar.

17.5 To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to burn incense before YHVH, and that he be not as the ice, and as his congregation, as YHVH spake unto him by the hand of Moses.

17.6 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured on the morrow against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of YHVH.

17.7 And it came to pass in the congregation of the congregation, that they turned toward the tabernacle of the congregation, and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of YHVH appeared.

17.8 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

17.9 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

17.10 They were taken from among this assembly, and they ate with them in a moment, and they fell on their faces.

17.11 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them. for wrath is gone out from before YHVH; the plague is begun.

17.12 And Aaron took as Moses spake, and ran into the midst of the congregation. and, behold, the plague was begun among the people. and he offered incense, and made an atonement for the people.

17.13 And he stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stayed.

17.14 And those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those who died because of Korah.

17.15 And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. and the plague was stayed.

17.16 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

17.17 Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of them a rod, according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers, twelve rods, every man with his name written upon his rod.

17.18 And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi. for there shall be one rod for the head of the house of their fathers.

17.19 And you shall lay them in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, which I have commanded you there.

17.20 And it shall come to pass, that the rod of the man whom I choose shall flourish; and I will take away from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

17.21 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and all their princes gave him a rod for a prince, one rod for a prince of their fathers' houses, twelve rods, and the rod of Aaron among their rods.

17.22 And Moses set the table before YHVH in the tabernacle of the congregation.

17.23 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses went into the tabernacle of the congregation. and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and brought forth blossoms, and brought forth almonds.

17.24 And Moses brought forth all the rod from before YHVH unto all the children of Israel. and they looked, and took every man his rod.

17.25 And YHVH said unto Moses, Return Aaron's rod before the testimony, to be kept for a sign unto the children of rebels, that their murmurings against me may cease, that they die not.

17.26 And Moses did as YHVH commanded him, so did he.

17.27 And the children of Israel said unto Moses, Behold, we are perishing; we are all perishing.

17.28 Everyone who comes near the tabernacle of YHVH will die. Will you be counted for a curse?

18.1 And YHVH said unto Aaron, Thou, and thy sons, and thy father's house with thee, shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary. and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.

18.2 And also thy brethren of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, which are with thee, shall be brought near unto thee, and they shall minister unto thee, thou and thy sons with thee, before the tabernacle of the congregation.

18.3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle. only they shall not come nigh unto the vessels of the sanctuary, and unto the altar, lest they also die.

18.4 And they shall come near you, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle. and no stranger shall come nigh unto you.

18.5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar. and there shall be no more wrath upon the children of Israel.

18.6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel, as a gift unto you, given unto YHVH, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

18.7 You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for all things concerning the altar, and for the lampstand for the covering, and your service shall be a freewill offering. I will give your priesthood to you, and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

18.8 And YHVH spake unto Aaron, saying, Behold, I have given thee the charge of my heave offering, of all the holy things of the children of Israel. I have given them to thee for the anointing, and to thy sons by a statute for ever.

18.9 This shall be unto thee a most holy thing from the fire. all their offerings, and all their offerings, and all their sin offerings, and all their trespass offerings, which they shall return unto me, shall be most holy unto thee, and to thy sons with thee.

18.10 You shall eat it in the most holy place. Every male that eats it shall be holy to you.

18.11 And this is yours, the heave offering of all the heave offering of the children of Israel; I have given it to you, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, by a statute for ever. every one that is clean in your house shall eat of it.

18.12 All the firstfruits of the milk of YHVH, and all the firstfruits of the new wine, and the firstfruits of the grain, which they shall give unto YHVH, I give unto thee.

18.13 All the firstborn of all that is in their land, which they bring unto YHVH, shall be unto thee. every one that is clean in thine house shall eat it.

18.14 Every devoted thing in Israel shall be yours.

18.15 Every firstborn of all flesh, whether of man or of beast, which they offer unto YHVH, shall be thine. only thou shalt redeem the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of unclean beast shalt thou redeem.

18.16 And if you redeem him from a new son, you shall redeem him according to your valuation, five shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.

18.17 But the firstborn of a bullock, or the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat, thou shalt not redeem. they are holy. thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and their milk thou shalt burn as a fire for a sweet savour unto YHVH.

18.18 And their flesh shall be unto thee as the wave breast, and as the right thigh shall it be unto thee.

18.19 All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto YHVH, I have given unto thee, and to thy sons, and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever. it is a covenant of salt for ever before YHVH, to thee, and to thy seed with thee.

18.20 And YHVH said unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them. I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

18.21 And unto the children of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service, which they do in the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

18.22 And the children of Israel shall no more come near the tabernacle of the congregation, to bear sin, to die.

18.23 And the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. and they shall bear their iniquity by a statute for ever throughout your generations. and among the children of Israel shall they have no inheritance.

18.24 For the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer up as an offering unto YHVH, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance. therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

18.25 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

18.26 And thou shalt speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you of them for your inheritance, and ye shall offer up of it an heave offering unto YHVH, a tenth part of the tithe.

18.27 And your offering shall be counted unto you as the corn of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.

18.28 So you also shall offer an offering to YHVH from all your tithes, which you receive from the children of Israel, and you shall give it as an offering to YHVH to Aaron the priest.

18.29 From all your gifts you shall offer the whole heave offering of YHVH, from all his milk, to his sanctuary.

18.30 And thou shalt say unto them, When ye have taken away his milk from him, it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the corn, and as the increase of the winepress.

18.31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households. for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.

18.32 And ye shall bear no sin upon him, by taking his milk from him. and the holy things of the children of Israel ye shall not profane, lest ye die.

19.1 And YHVH spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

19.2 This is the statute of the law which YHVH hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a heifer without blemish, in which is no blemish, upon which no blemish hath come.

19.3 And ye shall give it unto Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring it forth without the camp, and kill it before him.

19.4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of the blood with his finger, and sprinkle of the blood before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times.

19.5 And he shall burn the heifer in his sight, her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, upon her skin.

19.6 And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and two hyssops, and cast them into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

19.7 And the priest shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water. and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

19.8 And he that burneth shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.

19.9 And a clean man shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place. and it shall be for the congregation of the children of Israel to keep for him that sinneth.

19.10 And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

19.11 He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

19.12 He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean; but if he purify himself not on the third day, nor on the seventh day, he shall not be clean.

19.13 Whoever touches a dead body, whether a man or a woman, who dies, and does not purify himself before the tabernacle of YHVH, that person shall be unclean, and that soul shall be cut off from Israel; because the water of separation has not been thrown upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness shall be upon him.

19.14 This is the law. If a man dies in a tent, everyone who comes into the tent, and everyone who is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

19.15 And every open vessel, which hath not a bridle upon it, is unclean.

19.16 And whoever touches in the open field what is cut off by a sword, or a dead body, or a human bone, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

19.17 And he shall take for the unclean from the dust of the burnt offering for sin, and shall put living water upon him in a vessel.

19.18 And a clean man shall take moss, and dip it in water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon the plague, whether it be a bone, or a hollow, or a dead body, or a grave.

19.19 And he shall purify himself for the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day, and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

19.20 And the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation. for he hath defiled the sanctuary of YHVH. he hath not cast upon himself the water of separation, he is unclean.

19.21 And it shall be a statute for ever unto them, that he that hath the issue of separation shall wash his clothes. and he that toucheth the issue of separation shall be unclean until the even.

19.22 And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean. and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until the even.

20.1 And the children of Israel came, all the congregation, out of the wilderness of Zaan in the first month. and the people abode in Kadesh. and Miriam died there, and was buried there.

20.2 And there was no water for the congregation. and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

20.3 And the people murmured against Moses, and said, We have sinned against our brother before YHVH.

20.4 And why have you brought the congregation of YHVH into this wilderness, to die there, we and our city?

20.5 And why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to bring us to this evil place, which is not a place of seed, nor fig, nor vine, nor pomegranate, and where there is no water to drink?

20.6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the congregation unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and fell upon their faces. and the glory of YHVH appeared unto them.

20.7 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,

20.8 Take the rod, and gather the congregation together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, and it shall give forth his water. and thou shalt bring forth water for them out of the rock, and thou shalt give drink unto the congregation, and to their city.

20.9 And Moses took the rod from before YHVH, as he commanded him.

20.10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together unto the face of the rock. and he said unto them, Hear now, I pray you, ye bitter men, out of this rock will we bring forth water for you.

20.11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice. and there came out abundant water, and the congregation drank, and their city.

20.12 And YHVH said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the sight of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

20.13 These are the waters of strife, wherewith the children of Israel strove against YHVH, and he sanctified himself by them.

20.14 And Moses sent messengers from the sanctuary unto the king of Edom, saying, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us.

20.15 And our fathers went down out of Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt many days. and the Egyptians dealt treacherously with us, and with our fathers.

20.16 And we cried unto YHVH, and he heard our cry, and sent an angel, and we came up out of Egypt. and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost part of thy border.

20.17 We will pass through your land, we will not pass through the fields or vineyards, we will not drink water from the wells; we will go by the king's highway, we will not turn to the right or to the left, until we have passed your border.

20.18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.

20.19 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go up by the way of the mountain. and if I and my husband drink of thy water, and give me of thy vineyard, yet there is nothing that I can pass over with my feet.

20.20 And he said, Thou shalt not pass over. and Edom came out against him with a great people, and with a strong hand.

20.21 And Edom refused to let Israel pass through his border. and Israel turned away from him.

20.22 And they journeyed from the sanctuary, and the children of Israel, the whole congregation, came unto the mount of the mountains.

20.23 And YHVH spake unto Moses and unto Aaron in the mount of the mount, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,

20.24 Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word in the waters of Mephibosheth.

20.25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to the mountain of YHVH.

20.26 And you shall strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son. and Aaron shall be gathered together, and shall die there.

20.27 And Moses did as YHVH commanded, and they went up into the mount in the sight of all the congregation.

20.28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son. and Aaron died there in the top of the mount. and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.

20.29 And all the congregation saw that Aaron was sick. and they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.

21.1 And when the Canaanite king of Arad, which dwelt in the south, heard that Israel was come by the way of the wilderness, he fought against Israel, and took of them captives.

21.2 And Israel vowed a vow unto YHVH, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into mine hand, and I will utterly destroy their cities.

21.3 And YHVH hearkened unto the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites, and utterly destroyed them and their cities, and called the name of that place Harmah.

21.4 And they journeyed from the mountain by the way of the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom. and the soul of the people was faint on the way.

21.5 And the people spake against God and against Moses, saying, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and no water, and our soul is weary with this perishable bread.

21.6 And YHVH sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

21.7 And the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against YHVH, and against thee. pray unto YHVH, that he take away the serpent from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

21.8 And YHVH said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery furnace, and set it upon a pillar. and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

21.9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it upon a pole. and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, and he looked unto the serpent of brass, he lived.

21.10 And the children of Israel journeyed, and encamped in Abet.

21.11 And they journeyed from Abebe, and pitched in Ai-Hebrew, in the wilderness that is before Moab toward the sunrising.

21.12 From there they traveled and camped at the Zered Valley.

21.13 From there they journeyed and camped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites. For the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

21.14 Therefore it shall be said in the book of the wars of YHVH, Wahab in its end, and the brooks Arnon,

21.15 And the valley of the brooks, which went down to the plain, and abutted against the border of Moab,

21.16 And from there to Barah, that is, the well of which YHVH said to Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

21.17 Then shall Israel sing this song of Eli, answer her.

21.18 A well dug by the princes, a well dug by the people, a well in the wilderness of Matanah,

21.19 And of Manatha, Nahaliel; and of Nahaliel, Bamoth.

21.20 And the high places of the valley, which is in the field of Moab, the top of the peak, and looking toward the face of Jeshiman,

21.21 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

21.22 We will pass through your land, we will not turn aside into the fields or vineyards, we will not drink water from the wells, we will go by the king's highway until we have passed your border.

21.23 And Sihanouk would not suffer Israel to pass through his border. but Sihanouk gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jotah, and fought against Israel.

21.24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon. for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

21.25 And Israel took all these cities. and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.

21.26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, and he fought against the first king of Moab, and took all his land from his hand, even unto Arnon.

21.27 Therefore they shall say in proverbs, Come, Heshbon, build and prepare the city of Sihon.

21.28 For a fire is gone out of the city of Sihon, a flame from the city of Sihon, it hath devoured the city of Moab, YHVHs of the high places of Arnon.

21.29 Woe to you, Moab! You are destroyed, O people of Chemosh, whose sons and daughters were exiled to Sihon, the king of the Amorites.

21.30 And Niram was lost count unto Diban, and Nahamas unto Naphath, as far as Midba.

21.31 And Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

21.32 And Moses sent to spy out Jazer, and they took the children of Nethaniah, and he possessed the Amorites that were there.

21.33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan. and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

21.34 And YHVH said unto Moses, Fear him not. for I have delivered him into thine hand, and all his people, and his land. and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

21.35 And they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until he left him none remaining. and they possessed his land.

22.1 And the children of Israel journeyed, and pitched in the plains of Moab beyond Jordan at Jericho.

22.2 And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

22.3 And Moab fled before the people greatly, because they were many. and Moab was dismayed before the children of Israel.

22.4 And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now will the congregation lick up all that is round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. and Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.

22.5 And he sent messengers unto Balaam the son of Beor, which was by the river, in the land of his people, to call unto him, saying, Behold, a people is come out of Egypt; behold, it covereth the face of the earth; and he dwelleth before me.

22.6 Now therefore go, I pray thee, bring me this people; for they are too strong for me. peradventure I may be able to smite them, and drive them out of the land. for I know that whatsoever thou blessest, it shall be blessed, and whatsoever thou cursest, it shall be smitten.

22.7 Then the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed, and with enchantments in their hand, and they came to Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

22.8 And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as YHVH shall speak unto me. And the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

22.9 And God came unto Balaam, and said, Who are these men with thee?

22.10 And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, send unto me,

22.11 Behold, the people have come out of Egypt, and they cover the face of the earth. now therefore come, I pray thee, and fight with them; peradventure I shall be able to fight against them, and drive them out.

22.12 And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them, neither shalt thou curse the people. for blessed be he.

22.13 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your own land. for YHVH refuseth to let me go with you.

22.14 And the princes of Moab arose, and came unto Balak, and said, Where is Balaam? will he go with us?

22.15 And Balak sent yet more princes, more honourable than these,

22.16 And they came to Balaam, and said unto him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let not thy coming hinder me, I pray thee,

22.17 For I will greatly honor you, and I will do whatever you say to me. Go, lead me this people.

22.18 And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the command of YHVH my God, to do less or more.

22.19 Now therefore tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what more YHVH will speak unto my people.

22.20 And God came to Balaam by night, and said unto him, If the men have come to call thee, arise, go with them, and do the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou mayest do.

22.21 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

22.22 And the anger of God was kindled because he went. and the angel of YHVH stood in the way against him. and he rode upon an ass, and his two servants were with him.

22.23 And the ass saw the angel of YHVH standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand. and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field. and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her aside out of the way.

22.24 And the angel of YHVH stood in the path of the vineyards, a hedge on this side and a hedge on that side.

22.25 And the ass saw the angel of YHVH, and thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall, and he smote her.

22.26 And Joseph the angel of YHVH passed by, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

22.27 And the ass saw the angel of YHVH, and lay down under Balaam. and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

22.28 And YHVH opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

22.29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me, I would there were a sword in my hand, for now would I kill thee.

22.30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am I not thy ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since thy youth even unto this day? I have dared to do this unto thee. And he said, Nay!

22.31 And YHVH opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of YHVH standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand. and he bowed himself, and bowed himself before his face.

22.32 And the angel of YHVH said unto him, Wherefore hast thou beaten thine ass these three feet? behold, I am gone forth against Satan, because the way is turned against me.

22.33 And the ass turned before me three feet. perhaps she turned before me. for now I will smite her also, and I will revive her.

22.34 And Balaam said unto the angel of YHVH, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me. and now, if it displease thee, I will turn again unto thee.

22.35 And the angel of YHVH said unto Balaam, Go with the men, and only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. And Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

22.36 And Balak heard that Balaam was come, and went out to meet him unto the city of Moab, which is on the border of Arnon, which is at the uttermost part of the border.

22.37 And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not indeed send unto thee to call thee? Wherefore camest thou not unto me? shall I not eat thy fat?

22.38 And Balaam said unto Balak, Behold, I have come unto thee. now therefore I will eat of the word which God putteth in my mouth, that I may speak it.

22.39 And Balaam went with Balak, and they came to Kirjath-hazoth.

22.40 And Balak sacrificed oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam and to the princes that were with him.

22.41 And it came to pass in the morning, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up to the top of Baalim. and from thence he saw the uttermost part of the people.

23.1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

23.2 And Balak did as Balaam had said. and Balak and Balaam offered a bullock and a ram upon the altar.

23.3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand upon thine altar, and I will go. peradventure YHVH will meet me, and shew me some thing, and I will tell thee. and my mouth went.

23.4 And God called Balaam, and said unto him, I have prepared the seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram upon the altar.

23.5 And YHVH put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

23.6 And he returned unto him, and, behold, he and all the princes of Moab stood by his altar.

23.7 And he took up his parable, and said, From Aram shall Balak king of Moab come unto me, from the mountains of the east. go away, O Jacob, and go away, O Israel, the wrath of Israel.

23.8 What have I done, that God has not angered me? and what have I done, that YHVH has not been angry?

23.9 For from the beginning of the captivity of Aram, and from the heights of Assyria, they are a people that shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

23.10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number the fourth part of Israel? My soul shall die the death of the upright, and my end shall be like it.

23.11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? that I have taken thee, and, behold, thou hast blessed me.

23.12 And he answered and said, Must I not keep that which YHVH shall put in my mouth?

23.13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou shalt see the uttermost part thereof, and shalt not see all of it. and I will bring it to thee from thence.

23.14 And he took him to the top of the mountain, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on the altar.

23.15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thine altar, and I will go up thus.

23.16 And YHVH called Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

23.17 And he came unto him, and, behold, he stood by his altar, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath YHVH spoken?

23.18 And he took up his parable, and said, Arise, Balak, and hear, O son of Zippor,

23.19 He is not a God, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should comfort himself. he hath spoken, and shall not do; he hath spoken, and shall not perform.

23.20 Behold, I have taken a blessing, and a blessing, and will not return it.

23.21 He has not seen iniquity in Jacob, nor has he seen trouble in Israel; YHVH his God is with him, and the shout of a king is within him.

23.22 God brought them out of Egypt like a flock of sheep,

23.23 For there is no sorcery in Jacob, nor divination in Israel. now shall it be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought?

23.24 For he shall rise up like a lion, and shall lift himself up as a lion. he shall not lie down till he devour the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

23.25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Thou hast not cursed us, neither hast thou blessed us.

23.26 And Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Did I not tell thee, saying, All that YHVH speaketh, that I must do?

23.27 And Balak said unto Balaam, Go, I pray thee, I will take thee unto another place. peradventure it shall please God, and thou shalt receive me there.

23.28 And Balak took Balaam to the head of the mountain that looks over the Jeshimon.

23.29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

23.30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on the altar.

24.1 And Balaam saw that it pleased YHVH to bless Israel. and he went not, as at other times, to meet the serpents, but set his face toward the wilderness.

24.2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and saw Israel abiding by his tribes. and the Spirit of God came upon him.

24.3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Ber hath spoken, and the man that hath no eyes hath spoken.

24.4 Hearken, I say unto you, O God, whose face is full, and whose eyes are open,

24.5 How good are your tents, O Jacob, and your dwellings, O Israel!

24.6 They are spread out like streams, like gardens by the river's banks, like tents, which YHVH has planted like cedars by the waters.

24.7 He poured out water from his buckets, and sowed with many waters. and he lifted up his king from Agag, and his queen was exalted.

24.8 Do not bring him out of Egypt like a ram, for he will devour the nations that oppress him, and will destroy their strength, and crush half of them.

24.9 He crouched down like a lion and a cub. Who will raise us from your blessings? Blessed are you, and cursed are you?

24.10 And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he stretched out his hands. And Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to bless mine enemy, and, behold, thou hast blessed him these three times.
