Malachi
1.1 The burden of the word of YHVH unto Israel by the hand of an angel.
1.2 I have loved you, saith YHVH. and ye say, Wherein have ye loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith YHVH, and he loved Jacob.
1.3 But I hated Esau, and I made his mountains a desolation, and his heritage a wilderness.
1.4 For Edom shall say, We have broken down, and we will return, and build heaps. thus saith YHVH of hosts; They shall build, but I will throw down. and they shall call them the border of wickedness, and the people with whom YHVH is angry for ever.
1.5 And your eyes shall see it, and ye shall say, YHVH is magnified above the border of Israel.
1.6 A son shall honor his father, and a servant his master. and if I be a father, where is my honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith YHVH of hosts unto you, O priests, ye have profaned my name. and ye say, Wherein have we profaned thy name?
1.7 They offer upon the altars bread of redemption, and ye say, Wherein have we redeemed thee? ye say, The sacrifice of YHVH is abomination.
1.8 And if you offer a skin for a sacrifice, it is not evil; and if you offer the passover and the unleavened bread, it is not evil; offer it to your servant, whether he be pleased with you or not, saith YHVH of hosts.
1.9 Now therefore, I pray thee, beseech thee, that he may have mercy on you. this is he that hath taken away your countenance, saith YHVH of hosts.
1.10 Who among you will shut the doors, that you may not light the altars of vain sacrifices? I have no pleasure in you, says YHVH of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hand.
1.11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the setting of the sun my name shall be great among the nations. and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering. for my name shall be great among the nations, saith YHVH of hosts.
1.12 And you profane him, saying, "YHVH has redeemed him, and he has eaten his abominable seed."
1.13 And ye said, Behold, it is full, and ye have made it small, saith YHVH of hosts. and ye have brought the prey, and the passover, and the sick, and ye have brought the oblation, which I have given you with your hand, saith YHVH.
1.14 And cursed be the deceiver, and in his flock there is a male, and a vow, and a burnt offering unto YHVH. for I am a great King, saith YHVH of hosts, and my name is terrible among the heathen.
2.1 And now this commandment is for you, O priests.
2.2 If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, saith YHVH of hosts, then will I send a plague among you, and I will destroy your blessings, and their plagues also. because ye lay it not to heart.
2.3 Behold, I will rebuke you, and will sow you with a horseman, and will bring you to him.
2.4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith YHVH of hosts.
2.5 My covenant was with him of life and peace, and I gave him fear, and he feared me, and because of my name he was at ease.
2.6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and wickedness was not found in his lips. He walked with me in peace and on level ground, and turned many away from evil.
2.7 For the lips of the priest shall keep knowledge, and they shall seek the law at his mouth. for he is the angel of YHVH of hosts.
2.8 And ye have turned aside out of the way, ye have caused many to stumble in the law, which made the covenant of Levi, saith YHVH of hosts.
2.9 And I have made you despised and despised before all the people, because you have not kept my ways, and have shown partiality in the law.
2.10 Have we not all one father? and have we not one God made us? Why do we deal treacherously, every man against his brother, to profan the covenant of our fathers?
2.11 Judah has gone astray, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem, for Judah has profaned the holiness of YHVH which he loved, and has married a foreigner's daughter.
2.12 YHVH shall cut off the man that shall awake, and answer out of the tents of Jacob, and shall offer an offering unto YHVH of hosts.
2.13 And this again, you will make the altar of YHVH a covering of tears with weeping and groaning, so that you will no longer turn to the offering and take a willing hand from it.
2.14 And you said, "Why, because YHVH has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, with whom you have dealt treacherously, and she is your companion and the wife of your covenant?"
2.15 And not one has made and has left his spirit, and what one seeks the seed of God? And keep yourselves in your spirit, and do not deal treacherously with the wife of your youth.
2.16 For he hath hated him, saith YHVH God of Israel, and hath covered his garment with sackcloth, saith YHVH of hosts. and ye shall beware of your spirit, and ye shall not be deceived.
2.17 You have offended YHVH with your words, and you have said, "What have we offended you in saying, 'Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of YHVH, and he delights in them,' or, 'Where is the God of judgment?'
3.1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare a way before me. and suddenly shall YHVH, whom ye seek, come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in. behold, he cometh, saith YHVH of hosts.
3.2 And who can abide the day of his coming? and who can stand before his face? For he is like a fire that consumes, and like a fuller's mantle.
3.3 And he sat as a refiner and purifier of silver, and purified the sons of Levi, and purged them as gold and silver, that they might offer unto YHVH an offering in righteousness.
3.4 And the offering of Judah and Jerusalem shall be a pledge to YHVH, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
3.5 And I will come near to you for judgment, and will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against them that swear falsely, and against them that oppress the hireling, the widow, and the fatherless, and the stranger. and they shall not fear me, saith YHVH of hosts.
3.6 For I YHVH change not, neither are ye consumed, O children of Jacob.
3.7 In the days of your fathers you have cast off my commandments, and have not kept them. return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith YHVH of hosts. and ye say, Whereunto shall we return?
3.8 Be determined, O man of God, for you test me, and say, Wherein have we determined tithes and offerings?
3.9 You are like a fire in Mara, and you are like a whole nation.
3.10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, and let there be spoil in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith YHVH of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
3.11 And I will rebuke you in eating, and the fruit of the ground shall not be destroyed for you, neither shall your vine cast its fruit in the field, saith YHVH of hosts.
3.12 And all nations shall call you blessed. for ye shall be a delightful land, saith YHVH of hosts.
3.13 Ye have strengthened your words against me, saith YHVH; and ye have said, What have we spoken against thee?
3.14 You have said, "It is in vain to serve God, and what profit is there in that we have kept his charge, and have walked rebelliously before YHVH of hosts?"
3.15 And now we testify that some who did evil were also created, and yet tested God and escaped.
3.16 Then those who feared YHVH spoke to one another, and YHVH listened and heard, and wrote a book of remembrance before him for those who feared YHVH and thought on his name.
3.17 And they shall be mine, saith YHVH of hosts, in the day that I shall make a covenant with them, and I will have compassion on them, as a man has compassion on his son that serveth him.
3.18 And you shall return and see between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.
3.19 For behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble. and the day that cometh shall burn them, saith YHVH of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
3.20 And the sun of righteousness shall rise upon you, O ye that fear the heavens, with healing in its wings. and ye shall go forth, and leap like calves of the stall.
3.21 And the wicked shall trample them, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I do this, saith YHVH of hosts.
3.22 Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him with the sword for all Israel, statutes and judgments,
3.23 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of YHVH.
3.24 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse.
