1 Since many have undertaken to set forth in order a narrative of the things that have been revealed to us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, 3 it seemed good to me also, having followed everything closely from the beginning, to write to you in the following order, O Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things about which you have been instructed. 5 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and righteousness of the Lord blameless. 7 And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren: and they were both well nourished in their days. 8 And it came to pass, while he was serving as priest before God in his course, 9 According to the custom of the priesthood, he went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense. 10 And all the multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense. 11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right hand of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw it, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. 13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Sacred Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 And he shall turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God: 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. 18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, How shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife is well stricken in years. 19 And the angel answered and said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and was sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these things. 20 And, behold, thou shalt be silent, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their own time. 21 And the people waited for Zacharias; and they marveled while he stood in the temple. 22 And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: and he himself passed by them, and was deaf. 23 And it came to pass, that, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his own house. 24 And after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, 25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days which he saw to take away my reproach among men. 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in to her and said, “Rejoice, highly favored one! The Lord is with you; blessed are you among women.”29 And the woman who saw him was troubled at his words, and thought, "What a shameful thing this kiss was." 30 And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Ihsou. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” 35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of you will be called the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth to her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God. 38 And Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. 39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country, after learning, into a city of Judah, 40 and entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elizabeth. 41 And it came to pass, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb: and Elizabeth was filled with the Sacred Spirit, 42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For, behold, as soon as the voice of thy greeting came into my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 45 And blessed is she that believed, that there would be a fulfillment of those things which were spoken unto her from the Lord. 46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior, 48 for he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 49 For he that is mighty hath done for me great things, and holy is his name, 50 and his mercy is unto all generations on them that fear him. 51 He hath shewed strength with his arm, he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart. 52 He hath brought down the mighty from their thrones, and hath exalted the lowly. 53 He filled the hungry with good things, and he sent the hungry away empty. 54 He has called his son Israel to be in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever. 56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her own house. 57 And Elizabeth's full time came for her to be delivered, and she gave birth to a son. 58 And her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. 59And it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child: and they called him Zacharias, after his father's name. 60 And his mother answered and said, Nay; but he shall be called John. 61 And I said unto her, There is none among thy kindred that is called by this name. 62 And he made signs unto his father, what he would have him called. 63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying,His name was John; and they all marveled. 64 And his mouth was opened, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, blessing God. 65 And fear came upon all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judaea. 66 And all that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What then shall this child be? and the hand of the Lord was with him. 67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, 68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he hath visited and redeemed his people, 69 and hath raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his son David. 70 As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets since the world began, 71 Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us, 72 To show mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant, 73 The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, 74 To grant us, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, to serve him without fear, 75 In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life. 76 And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways, 77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins, 78 through the tender mercy of our God, in which the sunrise from on high has visited us, 79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. 80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts until the day of his manifestation to Israel.

1 Now it came to pass in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. 2 This first taxing was done while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be taxed, every man into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 To be taxed with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was not yet with child. 6 And it came to pass, while they were there, that the days were fulfilled for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were shepherds in that country feeding the sheep, keeping watch by night over their flock. 9 And, behold, an angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. 15 And it came to pass, when the angels and the shepherds were gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger. 17 And when they saw it, they knew what was spoken unto them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds had told them. 19 But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. 21 And when eight days were fulfilled for the circumcision of the child, his name was called Ihsou, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, 23 as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord, 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. 25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and this man was just and devout, and he sought the intercession of Israel: and the Sacred Spirit was upon him: 26 And it was confirmed unto him by the Sacred Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Ihsou, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 And he took him up in his arms, and blessed God,and said, 29 Now you are letting your servant go, Lord, according to your word, in peace; 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel. 33 And Joseph and his mother marveled at the things spoken of him. 34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against: 35 And a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also, that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed. 36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher: this prophetess was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity, 37 and she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And at that very hour she believed, and gave thanks to the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. 39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. 40 And the child grew, and was strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 41 And his parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. 43 And when the days were fulfilled, as they returned, the child Ihsou tarried behind in Jerusalem: and Joseph and his mother knew it not. 44 But supposing him to be in the company, they went a day's journey, and sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances. 45 And when they found him not, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when they saw him, they were astonished: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have been anxiously seeking thee. 49 And he said unto them, Why seek ye me? know ye not that I am in my Father's house? 50 And they did not understand the word which he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52 And Ihsou increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, this woman was of great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity, 37 and she was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And at that very hour she was converted and gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke about him to all who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem. 39 And when they had performed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 41 And his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. LUKE 3
1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2 in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins: 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places straight: 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. 7 Then he said to the crowds that were coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. 9 And now the axe is laid to the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 10 And the multitudes asked him, saying, What shall we do then? 11 And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath none, let him do likewise. 12 And there came also to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? 13 And he said unto them, Do no more than that which is commanded you. 14 And the soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what shall we do? And he said unto them, Be not troubled, neither slander, and be content with your victuals. 15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether he were the Christ, 16 John answered, saying unto them all, I baptize you with water: but he that is mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Sacred Spirit and fire: 17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will purge his floor, and gather his wheat into his garner; but he will burn up the chaff with blazing fire. 18 So with much entreaty and other requests, he preached the gospel to the people. 19 But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him for Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evil things Herod had done, 20 added this also to all, and shut up John in prison. 21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that when Ihsou had been baptized, and was praying, the heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon him: and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. 23 And this Ihsou was about thirty years old, being the son of Joseph, as he was called, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Mattathias, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Janna, the son of Joseph, 25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias,of Semei, of Joseph, of Judah, 27 of Johanan, of Resa, of Zerubbabel, of Shealtiel, of Neri, 28 of Melchi, of Addi, of Cosam, of Elmodam, of Er, 29 of Joseph, of Eliezer, of Jorim, of Mattathias, of Levi, 30 of Simeon, of Judah, of Joseph, of Jonan, of Eliakim, 31 of Melea, of Menam, of Mattatha, of Nathan, of David, 32 of Jesse, of Obed, of Boaz, of Salmon, of Nahshon, 33 of Amminadab, of Aram, of Hezron, Phares, Judah, 34 Jacob, Isaac, Abraham, Terah, Nahor, 35 Saruch, Reu, Peleg, Eber, Shelah, 36 Cainan, Arphaxad, Shem, Noah, Lamech, 37 Methuselah, Enoch, Jared, Mahalalel, Cainan, 38 Enosh, Seth, Adam, God.

LUKE 4
1 And Ihsou, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted forty days by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days: and when he had finished them, he was hungry. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone to become bread. 4 And Ihsou answered and said unto him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil took him up into a very high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for it is delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, it shall be all thine. 8 And Ihsou answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 And in their hands they shall lift thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 And Ihsou answered and said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 And when thou hadst finished all the temptation, the devil departed from him until an opportune time. 14 And Ihsou returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and he went into the synagogue, as his custom was, on the sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he rolled up the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 And all bore witness to him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded from his mouth, and said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” 23 And he said unto them, Proclaim unto me this parable, Physician, heal thyself; whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy hometown. 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own hometown. 25 But truly I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there was a great famine throughout all the land. 26 And to none of them was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath of Sidon, to a widow woman.27 And many lepers were with Elisha the prophet in Israel; and none of them was cleansed, save Naaman the Syrian. 28 And all the people in the synagogue were filled with wrath, when they heard these things. 29 And they rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong. 30 But he passed through the midst of them, and went his way. 31 And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee; and he taught them on the sabbaths. 32 And they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority. 33 And in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 Saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Ihsou of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? behold who thou art, the Holy One of God. 35 And Ihsou rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. And they cast him into the midst, and he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and they spoke to one another, saying, “What word is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!” 37 And the news about him went out into all the surrounding region. 38 And he rose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a high fever, and they asked him about her. 39 And he came to her and rebuked the fever and left her. And immediately she rose up and served them. 40 When the sun was up, all who were sick with various diseases brought them to him, and he laid his hands on each one of them and healed them. 41 And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God.” And they rebuked him, saying, “They did not speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.” 42 And when day came, he departed and went into a deserted place, and the crowds sought him, and came to him, and they restrained him, that he would not go from them. 43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore am I sent. 44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.and go out? 37 And a report about him went out into all that region. 38 And he arose from the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house: and Simon's mother-in-law was sick with a high fever: and they asked him concerning her. 39 And he came upon her, and rebuked the fever, and left her: and she arose very weak, and ministered unto them. 40 And when the sun was up, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him: and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. 41 And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Christ, the Son of God. And they smote him, and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of God. 42 And it came to pass, that when it was day, he departed into a desert place: and the multitudes sought him, and came unto him, and would have him not depart from them. And they scolded him, saying, He is the Christ. 42 And when it was day, he departed into a desert place: and the multitudes sought him, and came unto him, and would have him not go from them. 43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore am I sent. 44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

LUKE 5
1 Now it came to pass, as the multitude pressed upon him to hear the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret: 2 And he saw two boats by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the multitudes out of the boat. 4 And when he had ceased speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into deep water, and let down your nets for the fish. 5 And Simon answered him, Master, we have toiled all night and taken nothing; nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net was breaking. 7 And they beckoned to the partners in the other ship, that they might come and take them: and they came and both ships were about to sink. 8 And when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Ihsou' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9 For a cloud fell upon him and all that were with him, because of the inflow of fish which they had taken. 10 And so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Ihsou said unto Simon, Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they left all, and followed him. 12 And it came to pass, that, while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy: and when he saw Ihsou, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13 And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And he charged him to say nothing: but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according to all that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15 But the news about him spread rapidly, and large crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. 16 But he often withdrew to the deserts and prayed. 17 One day he was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was there to heal them. 18 And behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they sought to touch him and to stand before him. 19 And not finding how to touch him because of the crowd, they went up on the roof, and through the tiles they set him down on the bed in the midst before Ihsou. 20 And seeing their faith, he said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies?” Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22 But Ihsou, knowing their reasonings, answered and said to them, “What are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?” 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—he said to the paralytic,I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house. 25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up the bed whereon he lay, and went to his house, glorifying God. 26 And they were all amazed, and glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day. 27 And after these things he went out, and saw a publican, named Leo, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. 28 And leaving all, he rose up, and followed him. 29 And Levi made a large bowl for himself in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them. 30 And their scribes and Pharisees complained to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 And Ihsou answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I did not say that the righteous should be called, but sinners to repentance.” 33 And they said unto him, Why do John's disciples fast often, and make prayers, and likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees; but thy disciples eat and drink? 34 And he said unto them, Ye cannot make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them. 35 But the days will come, and when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, then shall they fast in those days. 36 And he spake a parable unto them, No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old garment: else the piece rent the new, and the piece from the new reconciled not with the old. 37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine spilleth the bottles, and it is spilled, and the bottles perish. 38 But new wine is put into new bottles, and both are preserved. 39 And no man drinketh old, and straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. Then they fast in those days. 36 And he also told them a parable: No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; otherwise, the new will tear, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the new wine will spill the wineskins, and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 But new wine is put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. 39 And no one who has drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, The old is better.

LUKE 6
1 And it came to pass on the second Sabbath, that he went through the cornfields: and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, and hid them in their hands. 2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath? 3 And Ihsou answered them, Have ye never read what David did, how he was hungry, he, and they that were with him? 4 How he went into the house of God, and took and ate the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him, to whom it was not lawful for any but the priests to eat: 5 And said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. 6 And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and taught: and there was a man there, whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him. 8 But he knew their reasonings, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Arise, and stand forth in the midst. And he that was healed stood. 9 And Ihsou said unto them, I will ask you one thing, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil? to save a life, or to destroy it? 10 And when he had looked round about on them all, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 11 But they were filled with indignation, and talked among themselves what they might do to Ihsou. 12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into the mountain to pray: and he continued all night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, he called his disciples unto him: and of them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles: 14 Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; 15 Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus; and Simon called the Zealot; 16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also became a traitor; 17 And he went down with them, and stood on a level place; and a great multitude of his disciples, and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; 18 and those who were troubled with unclean spirits, and were healed; 19 and all the multitude sought to touch him: for power went out from him, and healed them all. 20 And he lifted up his eyes upon his disciples, and said, Blessed are the poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled: blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. 22 Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man's sake. 23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same to the prophets. 24 But woe to you who are rich, for you withhold your alms. 25 Woe to you who are rich, for you will hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. 26 Woe to you,When all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets. 27 But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you. 29 To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who strikes you do not withhold your coat or tunic. 30 Give to him who asks you, and from him who asks you do not demand your own. 31 And as you would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. 32 And if ye love them which love you, what credit is that unto you? For sinners love them which love them. 33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what credit is that unto you? For sinners do the same. 34 And if ye lend of whom ye hope to receive, what credit is that unto you? For sinners lend to sinners, that they may receive back the same. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again: and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Highest: for he is kind unto the ungrateful and evil. 36 Be ye therefore merciful, even as your Father is merciful. 37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: loose, and ye shall be loosed: 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall they give into your bosom: for with the measure which ye mete, it shall be measured unto you again. 39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall not both fall into the pit? 40 A disciple is not above his teacher: but every one that is perfect shall be as his teacher. 41 Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the log in your own eye? 42 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the speck out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. 43 For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. 46 Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do the things I say? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood arose, the stream beat against that house and could not shake it, because it had been founded on the rock. 49 But he who hears and does not do is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation; against which the stream broke and fell,And the breach of that house became great.

LUKE 7
1 When he had finished all his words in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. 2 A centurion had a servant who was sick and had been treated badly. 3 When he heard about Ihsou, he sent elders of the Jews to him, asking him how he could come and save his servant. 4 When they came to Ihsou, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have this done for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue.” 6 Ihsou went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying, Lord, do not trouble me; for I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. 7 For I am not worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my child shall be healed. 8 For I am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. 9 When Ihsou heard this, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 10 And those who had gone back to the house found the sick servant healed. 11 And it came to pass the next day that he went to a city called Nain; and his disciples and a large crowd went with him. 12 And as he drew nigh unto the gate of the city, behold, there was carried out an only begotten son of his mother, and she was a widow: and a great multitude of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14 And he came and touched the body: and the bearers stood up. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, arise. 15 And the dead man sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother. 16 And fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us, and that God hath visited his people. 17 And this saying went out throughout all Judea, and into all the region round about. 18 And his disciples told John of all these things. 19 And John, having called two of his disciples, sent them to Ihsou, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 20 And the men came unto him, and said, John the Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 21 And in that hour he healed many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits: and to many that were blind he gave sight. 22 And Ihsou answered and said unto them, Go and shew John the things which ye have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached unto them: 23 And blessed is he, if any man be offended in me. 24 And when the angels of John were departed, he began to say unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 25 But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those in glorious and tender clothing are in kingdoms.26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 27 This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’ 28 For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29 And all the people, even the tax collectors, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John: 30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the will of God, being not baptized of him. 31 And the Lord said, To what then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to whom are they like? 32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have praised you, and ye have not wept; we have mourned, and ye have not wept. 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Behold, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. 35 And wisdom is justified by all her children. 36 And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him. And he entered the Pharisee's house and was seated. 37 And behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, I knew that he was eating in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster jar of ointment, 38 and stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wet his feet with her tears, and to wipe them with the hair of her head, and to kiss his feet, and to anoint them with the ointment. 39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” 40 Ihsou answered him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” He said, “Teacher, tell me.” 41 There were two debtors who owed a certain man five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 But when he could not repay them, he forgave them both. Which of them, then, did he love him more? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom the greater was given. And he said unto him, Thou hast judged rightly. 44 And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? when thou camest into my house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. 45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman, from the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 46 You did not anoint my head with oil, but anoint my feet with perfume. 47 I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, because she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. 48 He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 And those who stood by began to say to themselves, “Who is this, who also forgives sins?” 50 He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”Among those born of women there is no greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29 And all the people, when they heard it, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John: 30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, being not baptized of him. 31 And the Lord said, To what then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace, and calling to one another, saying, We have praised you, and you did not weep; we have mourned for you, and you did not weep. LUKE 8
1 And it came to pass in those days, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, 2 And certain women which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom seven devils had gone out, 3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of them that were present. 4 And when a great multitude had gathered together, and they that came to him out of the city, he spake by a parable, saying, 5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and was trodden under foot, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6 And some fell upon the rock, and it withered away, because it had no root. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it, and choked it. 8 And some fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit an hundredfold. When he had said this, he cried out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” 9 And his disciples asked him, “What does this parable mean?” 10 He said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.” 11 This is the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 But those along the path are those who hear, then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 And those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a season, but in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns, these are they which, having heard, go forth by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and are choked, and bring no fruit. 15 But those on the good ground, these are they which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. 16 No one lights a lamp and covers it with a basket or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. 18 Therefore take heed how you listen. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 19 And his mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him because of the crowd. 20 And they told him, saying, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. 21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it. 22 And it came to pass on a certain day, that he entered into a ship with his disciples; and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake: and they took to the water. 23 And as they sailed, he awoke; and there came down a great storm of wind on the lake, and they were filled, and were in danger of being drowned. 24 And they came and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we are perishing. And he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the sea: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 And he said unto them,Where is your faith? And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this? For he commandeth even the winds and the water, and they obey him? 26 And they sailed into the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. 27 And when he came out to land, there met him a man out of the city, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Ihsou, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Ihsou, thou Son of the most high God? I beseech thee, torment me not. 29 For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man: for many times it had seized him, and he had been kept bound with chains and fetters: and breaking the bonds, he was driven of the devil into the wilderness. 30 And Ihsou asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: for many devils had entered into him. 31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go into the deep. 32 Now there was there a herd of swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them: and he suffered them. 33 And the devils came out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake, and were choked. 34 And when the herdsmen saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city, and in the country. 35 And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Ihsou, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at the feet of Ihsou, clothed and sound in mind. And they were afraid. 36 And those who had seen it told them how he who had been possessed by demons had been healed. 37 And all the crowd of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. But he entered into the boat and returned home. 38 And the man from whom the demons had gone out was with him. And Ihsou sent him away, saying, 39 Return to your house, and declare how much God has done for you. And he departed, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Ihsou had done for him. 40 And it came to pass, as Ihsou was going out, the people received him: for they were all waiting for him. 41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell at Ihsou' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42 For he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dead: and as he came, the people pressed upon him. 43 And a woman who had been subject to a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her life under physicians and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and her flow of blood stopped. 45 And Ihsou said, Who is my anointed one? And when he denied it all, Peter and those with him said, Master, the multitudes throng thee, and throng thee; and thou sayest, Who is my anointed one? 46 But Ihsou said, “Let me alone, for I know that power has gone out from me.” 47 But when the woman saw that he was not coming, she came trembling and ran to him.For what reason he had come to him, he told him in the presence of all the people, and how he was healed immediately. 48 And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace. 49 While he was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher." 50 But when Ihsou heard it, he answered him, saying, "Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be saved." 51 And when he had come into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father of the child, and the mother of the child. 52 And they all wept, and besought her. But he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53 And they mourned him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and cried, saying, The damsel liveth. 55 And her spirit returned, and she arose in a moment: and he commanded that something should be given her to eat. 56 And her parents arose, and he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

1 And he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for the way, neither staves, nor bread, nor money, neither have two coats: 4 And whatsoever house ye enter, there abide, and thence depart. 5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the dust of your feet for a testimony against them. 6 And they went out through the villages, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. 7 And Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead: 8 And by some, that Elias had appeared: and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. 9 And Herod said, John I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him. 10 And the apostles returned, and told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside by themselves into a desert place, into a city called Bethsaida. 11 And the multitudes, knowing it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. 12 And the day began to decline. And the twelve came and said to him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding country and the fields and get food, for we are here in a deserted place. 13 And he said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we go and buy bread for all these people. 14 For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down in rows of fifty each. 15 And they did so, and they all reclined. 16 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed them, and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. 17 And they all ate and were filled: and there was taken up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets. 18 And it came to pass, as he was praying alone, that his disciples came unto him, and asked them, saying, Whom do the people say that I am? 19 And they answered and said, John the Baptist: others, Elijah: and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again. 20 And he said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answered and said, The Christ of God. 21 And he charged them, and charged them that they should tell no man of this thing, 22 Saying, Behold, the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day rise again. 23 And he said to them all, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world,But have you lost or been hurt? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and our words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and that of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God. 28 About eight days after these sayings, he took Peter, John, and James with him and went up on a mountain to pray. 29 And it came to pass, as he prayed, that the fashion of his face was altered, and his raiment was white as lightning. 30 And, behold, two men talked with him, which were Moses and Elijah: 31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. 33 And it came to pass, as they were parting from him, Peter said unto Ihsou, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: thou knowest not what he saith. 34 And while he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they were afraid as he entered into the cloud. 35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son; hear ye him. 36 And when the voice was spoken, Ihsou was found alone. And they were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen. 37 And it came to pass on the next day, when they were come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met him. 38 And, behold, a man of the multitude cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only begotten. 39 And, behold, a spirit taketh him, and suddenly he cryeth, and convulseth him, and foameth at the mouth, and cometh out of him, and convulseth him. 40 And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not. 41 And Ihsou answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring your son here. 42 And as he was yet coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. And Ihsou rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and gave him back to his father. 43 And all were astonished at the majesty of God. And while all were marveling at all that Ihsou did, he said to his disciples, 44 Let these sayings sink into your ears: for the Son of man is about to be delivered into the hands of men. 45 But they knew not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they should not perceive it: and they were afraid to ask him about this saying. 46 And a reasoning entered into them, which of them should be greater than they. 47 But Ihsou, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and set him by him, 48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all, the same is great.” 49 And John answered and said, “Trust me,We saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us. 50 But Ihsou said to him, “Do not forbid him; for whoever is not against us is against us.” 51 Now it came to pass, when the days were fulfilled that he should be taken up, that he set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent angels before his face: and they went, and entered into a city of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53 And they received him not, because his face was journeying to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not of what manner of spirit ye are of: 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went into another town. 57 And it came to pass, as they went on the way, that one said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58 And Ihsou said to him, “Foxes have nests, and birds of the air have roosts, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 59And he said to another, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 But Ihsou said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead; but go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 And another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go and say good-bye to my own people.” 62 And Ihsou said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.62 And Ihsou said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.62 And Ihsou said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

LUKE 10
1 After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. 2 And he said unto them, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send out labourers into his harvest. 3 Be ye therefore: behold, I send you as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no scrip, neither take ye any shoes: neither break ye any thing by the way. 5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6 And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, let it rest upon you. 7 And in that same house abide, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9 And heal the sick therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 10 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof, and say, 11 Even the dust of your city, which cleaveth to us, we wipe off against you: nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 12 But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom in that day than for that city. 13 Woe to you, Chorazin; woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon that were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to hell. 16 He who hears you hears me; and he who rejects you rejects me; and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me. 17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.” 18 And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and no man shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you: but rejoice, that your names are written in heaven. 21 In that hour Ihsou rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: yea, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight. 22 All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him. 23 And turning to his disciples privately, he said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.” 25 And behold, a lawyer stood up, testing him, saying, “Teacher, what have you done to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “I have heard the word of God, and I have seen it.”You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. 28 And he said to him, You have answered rightly; this do, and you shall live. 29 But he who wanted to justify himself said to Ihsou, And who is my neighbor? 30 And Ihsou answering said, A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who stripped him, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 And by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise also a Levite, when he was at the place, came and saw him, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion, 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And on the morrow he went out, and took out two denarii, and gave them to the innkeeper, and said unto him, Take care of him: and whatsoever thou spendest, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36 Which of these three dost thou think was a neighbor unto him that fell among the robbers? 37 And he said, The one that shewed mercy on him. Then said Ihsou unto him, Go thy way, and do thou likewise. 38 And it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Ihsou' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. But she said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me. 41 And Ihsou answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: but Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.He who showed mercy to him. Ihsou therefore said to him, Go, and do thou likewise. 38 And it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Ihsou' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving: and she said unto him, Lord, carest thou not that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she should come unto me. 41 And Ihsou answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one is needful: but Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.He who showed mercy to him. 41 And Ihsou answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one is needful: but Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

LUKE 11
1 And it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, as in heaven, also on earth. 3 Give us this day our daily bread: 4 And forgive us our sins: for we also forgive us our trespasses. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine is come to me on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him: 7 And he shall answer from within, and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I tell you, even if he does not give him, because he is his friend, because of his arrogance he will rise and give him as many as he needs. 9 And I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 Which of you, if his son asks bread, will not give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will not give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he not give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? 14 And he was casting out a demon, and he was deaf. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the deaf man spake: and the multitudes marveled. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out demons by Beelzebub the prince of the demons. 16 But others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house falleth. 18 And if Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? for ye say, I cast out devils by Beelzebub. 19 And if I cast out devils by Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they are your judges. 20 But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21 When a strong man, fully armed, guards his palace, he has peace in his possessions. 22 But when a stronger than he comes and overcomes him, he takes away his armor and scatters his weapons. 23 He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he passeth through dry places, seeking rest: and finding none, he saith, I will return into my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it stripped and garnished. 26 Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a woman lifted up her voice out of the multitude, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou hast sucked. 28 But he said, Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. 29 And the multitudes that came together began to say, This is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. 30 For as Jonah was a sign unto the Ninevites; so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here. 33 No man lighteth a candle, and putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. 34 The lamp of the body is the eye. When therefore thine eye is single, thy whole body is full of light: but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Be careful therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36 If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, that it may be wholly full of light, as when the candle of the lightning giveth thee light. 37 And as he spake, a Pharisee asked him how he might be made better than him. And he came in, and fell down. 38 But the Pharisee, seeing this, marveled that he had not been baptized before the wise. 39 And the Lord said to him, Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the plate, but your inside is full of extortion and wickedness. 40 You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But give alms of what you have, and behold, everything is clean to you. 42 But woe to you Pharisees, because you tithe mint and rue and all herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God. These things you may do, but the others you do not. 43 Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the first seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces. 44 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like the tombs that are visible, and the people who walk on them do not know them. 45 But the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying these things you insult us also.” 46 He said, “Woe to you lawyers too! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not lift one of your fingers to move the burdens. 47 Woe to you! For you build the monuments of the prophets, but your fathers killed them. 48 Therefore you bear witness and approve of the deeds of your fathers; for they killed me, and you build their monuments.” 49 Therefore also the wisdom of God said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute; 50 that the blood of all the prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the temple; yes, I say to you,It will be sought for by this generation. 52 Woe to you lawyers, for you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter in, and those who were entering you hindered. 53 And when he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be vehement and to hold him in suspicion, 54 watching him and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

LUKE 12
1 When a great crowd had gathered together, so that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 There is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. 3 Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and whatever you have whispered in the ear in the closets will be proclaimed on the housetops. 4 And I say unto you, My friends, Fear not them which kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell: yea, I say unto you, Fear him. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings? and not one of them is counted before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered: fear not therefore: ye are more than many ostriches. 8 And I say to you, everyone who confesses me before men, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God. 9 But whoever denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. 10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit it will not be forgiven. 11 But when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you will defend yourself or what you will say. 12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you should say. 13 Someone from the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14 But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?” 15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The land of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater, and there will I gather all my goods and my goods: 19 And I will say unto my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years: take thy ease, eat, drink, be merry. 20 But God said to him, “You fool, this night your soul will be required of you. But what about those things you have provided? 21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God. 22 And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about your body, what you will wear. 23 The life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens, that they neither sow nor reap, and they have no storehouse or barn, and yet God feeds them. How much more are you than the roosters? 25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his lifespan? 26 If then you are not able to do the least, why do you worry about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow; they do not toil or spin; and I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith? 29 And do not seek what you will eat or what you will drink, and do not be anxious. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things; and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you. 32 Fear not, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give alms. Provide yourselves purses that do not grow old, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches or destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 35 Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning. 36 And be like men who are waiting for their master from the wedding feast, so that when he comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately. 37 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, finds so doing. Truly I tell you, he will gird himself and put them to bed, and when he comes out, he will serve them. 38 And if he comes in the second watch, or in the third watch, and finds them so, blessed are those servants. 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched and not let his house be broken into. 40 Therefore be ye also ready: for the Son of man cometh at an hour that ye think not. 41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, tellest thou this parable unto us, or unto all? 42 And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of bread in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 44 Truly I say unto you, he will make him ruler over all his goods.45 But if that servant says in his heart, My lord delays his coming, and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and be drunken; 46 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in pieces, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes: 48 but he that knew not, and did deserve stripes, shall be beaten with few. But to everyone to whom much is given, much will be required; and to whom much is given, of him will they ask the more. 49 I came to cast fire on the earth, and what will I do if it is already kindled? 50 I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how shall I continue until it is finished? 51 Do you believe that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not peace, but division. 52 For from now on there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 Father will be divided against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 54 He also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A storm is coming,’ and so it is. 55 And when it blows from the south, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and so it is. 56 You hypocrites, you know how to judge the face of heaven and earth, but how is it that you do not judge this time? 57 And why do you not judge what is right? 58 For when you go with your adversary to the magistrate, on the way give him a reason to be released from him, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison. 59 I tell you, you will not get out thence until you have paid the last penny. You know how to test the face of heaven and earth; but how is it that you do not test this time?

1 Now there were some present at that time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 And Ihsou answered and said to them, “Do you believe that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were debtors above all men that dwell in Jerusalem? 5 Nay, I say unto you; but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 6 And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard: and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none. 7 And he said unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down: why doth it also destroy the earth? 8 But he answered and said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it bear fruit for me: and if not, in time to come thou shalt cut it down. 10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath days: 11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent together, and could in no wise lift herself up. 12 And when Ihsou saw her, he called unto her, Woman, be loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her; and immediately she stood up straight, and glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Ihsou had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, “There are six days on which work must be done; come and be healed on those days, and not on the Sabbath.” 15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrite! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or your donkey from the stall and lead it away to water? 16 And this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound for eighteen years, has not been released from this bond on the Sabbath day? 17 And when he said these things, all his opponents were ashamed; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. 18 And he said, “To what is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I liken it?” 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a great tree, so that the birds of the air lodged in its branches. 20 And again he said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? 21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. 22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying to Jerusalem. 23 And some said unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25 When once the master of the house shall rise up, and shall shut the door, and ye shall begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us: and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27 And he shall say, I say unto you,I know you not whence ye are: depart from me, all ye that work iniquity. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. 29 And they shall come from the east and the west, and from the north and the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 30 And, behold, there be last which shall be first, and first which shall be last. 31 On that day some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get out and go from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32 He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Look, I am casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I am finished.’ 33 But see me today and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, for it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.” 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate. But truly I say to you, you will not see me until he comes, when you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’

LUKE 14
1 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they were watching him. 2 And, behold, there was a man before him which had the dropsy. 3 And Ihsou answered and said unto the scribes and Pharisees, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? 4 And they were astonished. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go. 5 And he answered and said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox that fall into a well, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day? 6 And they could not answer him in answer. 7 And he spake a parable to them that were bidden, when he had heard how the chief seats were chosen, saying unto them, 8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the chief seat: lest perhaps thy honour be more honourable than he that bidden of him: 9 And when he that biddeth thee cometh, he saith unto thee, Give this man this place; and then beginneth with shame to take the last place. 10 But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit with you. 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. 12 And he said to him who was invited, ‘When you give a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor your rich neighbors; otherwise they may also invite you, and you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind. 14 And you will be blessed, because you have no one to repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous. 15 When those who were with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.” 16 He said to him, “A certain man made a great dinner and invited many. 17 And he sent his servant at the hour of the dinner to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18 And they all began to forsake one another. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and must needs go out and see it: I pray thee, have me excused. 19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee, have me excused. 20 And another said, My wife is with child, and for this cause I cannot come. 21 And that servant came and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the lame, and the blind. 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the master said to the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. 25 And great multitudes went with him: and he turned and said unto them, 26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me is not my disciple. 28 For which of you, wanting to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going to make war with another king, does not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or if he is still far away, he sends an embassy and asks for peace. 33 So therefore, whoever of you does not put aside all his own belongings is not my disciple. 34 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what can it be seasoned? 35 It is fit neither for the earth nor for the dunghill; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

LUKE 15
1 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were drawing near to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. 3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after the lost one, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance. 8 What woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the silver coin which I lost.’ 10 I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. 11 He said, “A man had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of your property that falls to me.’ And he divided his life between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all together and traveled to a distant country, where he squandered his property in debauchery. 14 When he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he longed to fill his belly with the pods that the swine did eat; and no one gave him any. 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger. 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee; 19 and I am no more worthy to be called thy son; make me as one of thy hired servants. 20 And he arose and came to his father. And when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found. And they began to make merry. 25 Now his older son was in the field. As he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the young men and asked what this meant. 27 And he said to him, “Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back in good health.” 28 And he was angry and would not go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.29 And he answered and said to his father, Behold, these many years do I serve thee, and I never disobeyed thy commandment; and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends. 30 But when this thy son, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, came, thou killedst for him the fatted calf. 31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine: 32 Therefore make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

LUKE 16
1 And he said also to his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward: and he was grievously smitten with him, as if he had squandered his substance. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, Why hearest this of thee? Give up thy stewardship; for thou canst not yet steward. 3 And the steward said within himself, What shall I do? my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4 I know what I shall do, that when I am finished with the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. 5 And he called together every one of his lord's debtors, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? 6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then he said unto another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write eighty. 8 And the Lord rebuked the unjust steward because he had dealt wisely: for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light. 9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness, that, when ye fail, they may receive you into the everlasting habitations. 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in that which is least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will believe the true? 12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? 13 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 14 And the Pharisees who were greedy for money heard all these things, and they were sneering at him. 15 And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For the high thing in men is an abomination in the sight of God. 16 The law and the prophets were until John; since then the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone presses into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fall. 18 Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and whoever divorces her husband commits adultery. 19 There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table; but even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried. 23 And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 And Abraham said, Son,Remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus likewise evil things; but now he is there, and you are in torment. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who would pass from here to you cannot, nor can those who would cross over from there to us. 27 And he said, I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may plead with them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham said to him, “They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.” 30 But he said, “No, father Abraham; but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.” 31 He said to him, “If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.”

LUKE 17
1 And he said to the disciples, It is impossible that offenses should not come; but woe to him through whom they come. 2 It would be more amiss for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than for him to offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and turns to you seven times in a day, saying, I repent, forgive him. 5 And the apostles said to the Lord, You have given us faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Be thou plucked up by the roots, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would obey you. 7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, would say unto him, When he is come out of the field, Go and sit down; 8 And would not say unto him, Prepare that I may sup with thee; and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunk; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? 9 Is there not grace in that servant, because he did those things which were commanded him? I will not prove it. 10 So you also, when you have done all that you are commanded, say, We are unprofitable servants; for we have done that which was our duty to do. 11 And it came to pass, as he went up to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered into a certain village, ten men that were lepers met him, which stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices, saying, Ihsou, Master, have mercy on us. 14 And when he saw it, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, that they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God: 16 And fell on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Ihsou answered and said, Were not the ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18 And none of them turned back to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19 And he said unto him, Rise up, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. 20 And being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, Lo there! for, lo, the kingdom of God is within you. 22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. 23 And they shall say unto you, Lo here! or, Lo there! go not away, neither persecute. 24 For as the lightning, that shineth out of the one under heaven, shineth unto the other under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. 25 But first shall he see many things, and be rejected of this generation. 26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise also it was in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built. 29 But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and he lost them all. 30 So it will be on that day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 In that day, let no one on the housetop or in the house go down to see what is inside, and let no one in the field go back. 32 Remember Lot. 33 Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35 Two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36 Two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

LUKE 18
1 And he spake a parable unto them, to this end that men ought always to pray, and not to faint, 2 saying, There was in a certain city a judge, which feared not God, nor regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city, and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a time: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says. 7 Shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry unto him day and night, and bear long with them? 8 I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily: but the Son of man cometh, that he may find faith on the earth? 9 And he spake this parable unto some which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice on the sabbaths, I give tithes of all that I acquire. 13 But the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than that man; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. 15 And they brought him also infants, that he might touch them: but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 16 But Ihsou called them, and said, Suffer the children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 17 Truly I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 18 And the ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what have you done that I may inherit eternal life? 19 And Ihsou said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth. 22 When Ihsou heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing: sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, for he was very rich. 24 When Ihsou saw him, he was very sad and said, “How hard it is for those who have money to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And those who heard him said, “Then who can be saved?” 27 He said, “The things that are impossible with men are possible with God.” 28 Then Peter said, “Look, we have left everything and followed you.” 29 And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or sisters or wife or children, because of the kingdom of God, 30 who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life. 31 And he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. 32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon, 33 and shall be scourged, and killed: and the third day he shall be raised up. 34 But they did not know any of these things, and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not understand what was said. 35 And it came to pass, as he drew near to Jericho, a blind man sat by the roadside begging. 36 And hearing a crowd passing by, he wondered what this meant. 37 And they told him that Ihsou of Nazareth was passing by. 38 And he cried out, saying, Ihsou, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 39 And those who led him rebuked him, that he should be quiet: but he cried out the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. 40 And Ihsou stood still, and called him to him: and when he was come near, he asked him, 41 Saying, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. 42 And Ihsou said unto him, Receive thy sight; thy faith hath made thee whole. 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

1 And he entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And behold, a man named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and rich, 3 and he sought to see Ihsou who it was, and he could not because of the crowd, because he was short in years. 4 And running ahead, he climbed a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. 5 And when he came to the place, Ihsou looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for today I must stay at your house. 6 And he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And all, seeing him, murmured, saying, He is come to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 But Zacchaeus stood still and said to the Lord, Behold, the half of my goods, Lord, I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any of them of anything, I restore fourfold. 9 And Ihsou said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.” 11 And as they heard these things, he went on to tell them a parable, because Jerusalem was near, and to prove to them that the kingdom of God was not to be seen immediately. 12 And he said, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and then to return. 13 And he called ten of his servants, and delivered unto them ten minas, and said unto them, Deal with me till I come. 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. 15 And it came to pass, when he was returned, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know what he had bargained with. 16 And the first came, saying, Lord, thy mina hath gained ten minas. 17 And he said to him, Well done, good servant; because you have been faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities. 18 And the second came, saying, Lord, your mina has made five mina. 19 And he said to him also, Be thou over five cities. 20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your mina, which I have laid down in a cloth. 21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man; you reap where you have not sown, and reap where you have not sown. 22 And he said to him, Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You know that I am an austere man, plowing where I did not plant and reaping where I did not sow. 23 And why did you not put my money into the bank, and when I came I did it with interest? 24 And he said to those who stood by, Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas. 25 And I said to him, Lord, he has ten minas. 26 For I say to you, that to everyone who has, more will be given; but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 27 But those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring here and slay them before me. 28 And having said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 And it came to pass, when he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called Olivet, that he sent two of his disciples, 30 saying, Go into the village opposite you; and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied,on which no man has ever sat; loose him, and lead him away. 31 And if he ask you, Why do ye loose him? say ye, His Lord hath need of him. 32 And they that were sent went their way, and found it even as he had said unto them. 33 And as they loosed the colt, his masters said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? 34 And they said, His Lord hath need of him. 35 And they brought him to Ihsou: and they cast their garments on the colt, and set Ihsou thereon. 36 And as he went, they spread their garments in the way. 37 And as he was now come nigh, even at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen, 38 Saying, Blessed is the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you, that if these should hold their peace, the stones would cry out. 41 And as he drew near, he saw the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, even thou, in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace; but now is it hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will build a rampart around you, and surround you, and hem you in on every side, 44 and they will lay you and your children within you low, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation. 45 And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and bought in it, 46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.” 47 And he was teaching daily in the temple. And the chief priests and the scribes, and the elders of the people, sought to destroy him: 48 And found not what they might do: for all the people hung on his words.44 And they will bury you and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation. 45 And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and bought in it, 46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.” 47 And he was teaching daily in the temple. And the chief priests and the scribes, and the elders of the people, sought to destroy him: 48 And found not what they might do: for all the people hung on his words.

LUKE 20
1 And it came to pass on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders came up, 2 and said to him, “Tell us, by what authority do you do these things? Or who is it that gave you this authority?” 3 And he answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one question, and tell me: 4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?” 5 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven, he will say, Why then did ye not believe him? 6 But if we shall say, Of men, all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet. 7 And they answered, We know not whence. 8 nd Ihsou said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 9 And he began to speak this parable to the people: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and brought forth fruit for many years. 10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. 11 And he sent yet another servant: and they beat him also, and shamefully treated him, and sent him away empty. 12 And he sent yet another: and they beat him also, and cast him out. 13 And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will be offended when they see him. 14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. 15 And they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What then will the lord of the vineyard do to them? 16 He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. But when I heard it, I said, Let it not be so. 17 And when he saw them, he said, What then is this that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? 18 And every one that falleth upon that stone shall be broken: and on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall crush him. 19 And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him that very hour: and they feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken this parable against them. 20 And when they had observed it, they sent spies, pretending to be righteous, to catch him in his words, that they might deliver him to the principality and authority of the governor. 21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest not the person of any, but teachest the way of God in truth. 22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? 23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? 24 Show me a denarius, whose image and superscription hath it. And I answered and said, Caesar's. 25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. 26 And they could not hold their tongue against this saying before the people: and marveling at his answer, they held their peace. 27 Then some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came and asked him, 28 saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies having a wife, and he dies childless, that his brother may take the wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died childless: 30 And the second took the wife, and he also died childless. 31 And the third took her: and in like manner the seven also; and left no children, and died. 32 Last of all the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her. 34 And Ihsou answered and said unto them, The children of this age marry and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage: 36 For they can neither die any more: for they are angels, and are the sons of God, being the sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, as he saith the Lord God of Abraham, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob. 38 He is not God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. 39 And certain of the scribes answered and said, Master, thou hast well said. 40 And no man durst ask him any more questions. 41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is the son of David? 42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43 Until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 44 David therefore calleth him Lord: and how is he his son? 45 And when he heard all the people, he said to his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, who love to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, and the best seats in the synagogues, and the first places at feasts; 47 who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater condemnation. And how is he his son? 45 And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces, and the best seats in the synagogues, and the chief seats at feasts; 47 who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

LUKE 21
1 And he looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw also certain poor widows putting in two mites. 3 And he said, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath put in more than they all. 4 For all these have cast in of their abundance unto the offerings of God: but she of her want hath cast in all the living that she had. 5 And when some were speaking of the temple, that it was adorned with good stones and with accursed stones, he said, 6 As for these things which you see, the days will come in the which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 7 And they asked him, saying, Master, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things shall be fulfilled? 8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and, The time is at hand; go not after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified. For these things must happen first, but the end does not come immediately. 10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences, and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. 13 You will be held as a witness against me. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to premeditate to make excuses. 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries will not be able to answer or resist. 16 And you will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you will be put to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. 18 And not a tear will fall from your head. 19 By your patience you will gain your souls. 20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of her withdraw, and let those who are in the country not enter her. 22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are with child and to those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress on the land, and wrath among this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away captive into all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations until the times of the nations are fulfilled. 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with the sea roaring, and the waves roaring, 26 men fainting from fear, and expectation of the things coming upon the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads: for your redemption draweth nigh. 29 And he told them a parable, saying, Behold the fig tree, and all the trees: 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of yourselves that summer is now nigh. 31 So likewise ye, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly I tell you, this generation will by no means pass away until all things are fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 34 But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day come on you suddenly. 35 For it will come as a flood on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, praying always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. 37 And in the days he was teaching in the temple, and at night he went out and went to the mount called Olivet. 38 And all the people came to him in the temple to hear him.

LUKE 22
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, was at hand. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. 3 Then Satan entered into Judas, called Iscariot, one of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and offered him money. 6 And he confessed, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude. 7 And the day of unleavened bread came, when the passover must be sacrificed. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare for us the passover, that we may eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him into the house that he entereth in. 11 And say unto the goodman of the house, The Teacher saith unto thee, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the passover with my disciples? 12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished; there make ready. 13 And they went and found it as he had told them; and they made ready the passover. 14 And when the hour was come, he went down, and the twelve apostles with him. 15 And he said unto them, I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not eat thereof again, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. 17 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God come. 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he wept, and gave to them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. 21 But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 And the Son of man goeth as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed. 23 And they began to reason among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. 24 And there was also a reasoning among them, which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and they that exercise authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But it is not so with you; but the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the one who serves. 27 For who is greater, the one who is superior or the one who serves? Not the one who is superior, but I am among you as the one who serves. 28 You are the ones who have continued with me in my trials. 29 And I appoint to you, just as my Father appointed to me, a kingdom, 30 that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both to prison, and to death. 34 And he said,I tell you, Peter, no one will cry out today before he denies knowing me three times. 35 And he said to them, When I sent you a purse and you took sandals, did you lack any? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then he said to them, But now, he who has a purse, let him take it; and he who has none, let him sell his garment and buy a sword. 37 For I tell you that this which is written shall not yet be fulfilled in me, And was reckoned with transgressors; and the end is come upon me. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. 39 And he came out, and went, as is his custom, unto the mount of Olives: and his disciples followed him. 40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray, that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And rising up from prayer, he came to his disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow. 46 And he said unto them, Why sleep ye? arise, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. 47 While he yet spake, behold, a multitude; and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, came near unto Ihsou to kiss him. 48 But Ihsou said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 When those around him saw what was going on, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. 51 But Ihsou answered and said, “Let him alone.” And he touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Ihsou said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple, and the elders who had come against him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as against a robber? 53 When I was with you in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness. 54 And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed at a distance. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the courtyard, and had set them together, Peter sat among them. 56 And seeing him as a child sitting in the light, and looking intently at him, she said, This man also was with him. 57 But he denied it, saying, Woman, I know him not. 58 And after a little while another seeing him said, Thou also art one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. 59And when they were gone about about the space of an hour, another denied them, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him: for he is a Galilean. 60 But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the eunuch cried out. 61 And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, Before you cry out, you will deny me three times. 62 And Peter went out and wept bitterly.63 And the men who were following Ihsou mocked him, and beat him. 64 And they covered him, and struck his face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is he that touched thee? 65 And they said many other blasphemies unto him. 66 And when it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together, and led him into their council, saying, 67 If thou be the Christ, tell us. But he said to them, If I tell you, you will not believe; 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer me, or let me go. 69 From now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God. 70 They all said, “You are the Son of God.” But he said to them, “You say that I am.” 71 They said, “What further need do we have of testimony? We ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.”

LUKE 23
1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him to Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute unto Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a king. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And he answered him, Thou sayest. 4 And Pilate said unto the chief priests and the multitude, I find no fault in this man. 5 But they were the more vehement, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place. 6 And when Pilate heard of the Galilean, he asked whether the man were a Galilean. 7 And when he knew that he was of Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was in Jerusalem at that time. 8 And when Herod saw Ihsou, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some sign done by him. 9 And I questioned him in persuasive words, but he answered him nothing. 10 And the chief priests and the scribes stood up, accusing him vehemently. 11 And Herod, having brought him forth with his men of war, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a splendid array, sent him back to Pilate. 12 And that very day both Pilate and Herod were made friends with each other; for before they had been at enmity with one another. 13 Then Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, 14 and said to them, “Bring me this man as one who perverts the people. And behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man of the charges you bring against him. 15 Neither have I, Herod, for I sent you to him, and, behold, nothing worthy of death has been done in him. 16 So I will chastise him and release him. 17 But he was obliged to release him to them at the feast. 18 But they cried out again, saying, “Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas.” 19 Who had been thrown into prison for a certain insurrection in the city and for murder.” 20 Pilate therefore cried out again, “I want to release Ihsou.” 21 But they kept on shouting, “Crucify him, crucify him.” 22 The third said to them, “Why, what evil has he done? I find no cause of death in him. Having been punished, I will release him.” 23 But they kept on shouting with loud voices, demanding that he be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests were getting louder. 24 And Pilate granted their request. 25 And he released to them the man who had been accused of sedition and murder, whom they had asked for, and Ihsou he delivered up to their will. 26 And as they led him away, they laid hold on one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Ihsou. 27 And a great multitude of the people followed him, and of women, and of women, and of women, who mourned and lamented him. 28 But Ihsou turning to them said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.’ 30 Then they will begin to say to the mountain,Fall on us; and to the mountains, Cover us. 31 For if they do these things in the wet, what will happen in the dry? 32 And two other criminals were crucified with him. 33 And when they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. 34 But Ihsou said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they divided his garments, casting lots. 35 And the people stood by, beholding. And the rulers also mocked him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be the Christ, the chosen of God. 36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming up to him, and offering him vinegar, 37 And saying, If thou be the King of the Jews, save thyself. 38 And there was also a superscription written over him in letters of Greek, and of Romans, and of Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 39 And one of the criminals who were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be the Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answered and said to him, “Do you not fear God at all? For you are in the same place as him. 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said to Ihsou, “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And Ihsou said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” 44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 And Ihsou cried with a loud voice, and said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the spirit. 47 And when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Of a truth this man was righteous. 48 And all the people that came together at that sight, beholding the things that were done, smote their breasts, and returned. 49 And all his acquaintances stood afar off, and the women which had followed him from Galilee, beholding these things. 50 And, behold, a man named Joseph, a councilor, a good and just man, 51 who had not consented to their counsel and deed, of Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who also himself was waiting for the kingdom of God: 52 he went to Pilate, and begged the body of Ihsou. 53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a hewn tomb, where no one had ever lain. 54 And it was the day of the preparation, and the sabbath day was come. 55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. 56 And they went and prepared spices and myrrh. And they did the men on the sabbath day, according to the commandment.35 And the people stood looking on. And the rulers also mocked him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if this be the Christ, the chosen of God. 39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed on him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us.” 40 The other answered him, “Do you not fear God? You are in the same condemnation. 41 And we justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said to Ihsou, “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And Ihsou said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” 44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed on him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us.” 40 The other answered him, “Do you not fear God? LUKE 24
1 And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 and when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Ihsou. 4 And it came to pass, as they passed by, behold, two men met them in a trance. 5 And they were afraid, and bowed their faces to the ground, and said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spoke to you while he was still in Galilee, 7 saying, "You must see the Son of Man being betrayed into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again." 8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the others with them, who told these things to the apostles. 11 And their words appeared to them as a cloud, and they believed them. 12 But Peter arose, and ran unto the tomb; and turning about, he saw the sepulchres written alone: and he went away, marveling at that which was done. 13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14 And they talked with one another of all these things that were done. 15 And it came to pass, as they talked and reasoned, that Ihsou himself drew near, and went with them: 16 And their eyes were stedfast, that they knew him not. 17 And he said unto them, What manner of discourse are these that ye hold together, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered and said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said unto them, Who? And they said unto him, Concerning Ihsou of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; 20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and crucified him: 21 But we hoped that he was he which should redeem Israel: and thou, and all these things, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22 And certain women of our company also came unto us, being watchmen at the sepulchre: 23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which say that he is alive. 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found even so as the women said: but him we saw not. 25 And he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew near to the city whither they were going; and he pretended to go further. 29 And they urged him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.30 And it came to pass, as he sat with them, that he took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him: and he vanished from their sight. 32 And we said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he spake unto us by the way, and while he opened unto us the scriptures? 33 And they rose up that very hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34 saying, That the Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared unto Simon. 35 And they told these things by the way, and how he was made known unto them in the breaking of bread. 36 And as they thus spake, Ihsou himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 And they were astonished, and were afraid, and desired to see the Spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you suppose me to have.” 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 While they still did not believe for joy and wondered, he said to them, “Have you any food?” 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish and a piece of a honeycomb. 43 And he took it and ate before them. 44 And he said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything must be fulfilled that was written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high.” 50 And he led them out as far as Bethany; and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you suppose me to have. 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still did not believe for joy and wondered, he said to them, “Have you any food?” 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish and a piece of a honeycomb. 43 And he took it and ate in their presence. 44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures: 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved the Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem: 48 And ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. 50 And he led them out as far as Bethany: and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: 53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.
