Isaiah

1.1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

1.2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth. for YHVH hath spoken. I have magnified and exalted my children, and they have transgressed against me.

1.3 The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its owner's manger. Israel does not know, my people do not consider.

1.4 Woe to you, a sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children of corrupters, who have forsaken YHVH, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they have gone backward.

1.5 Why should you strike again? Why should you add more pain? Every head is sick, and every heart is faint.

1.6 From the sole of the foot to the head there is no soundness in him, no wound, no bruise, no fresh wound, not bandaged or soothed with oil.

1.7 Your land is desolate, your cities are burned with fire, your land is devoured by strangers before you, and you are desolate, like the destruction of strangers.

1.8 And the daughter of Zion shall be left as a shelter in a vineyard, as a den in a cave, as a besieged city.

1.9 Unless YHVH of hosts had left us a remnant, we would have been like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.

1.10 Hear the word of YHVH, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Omrah.

1.11 Why do you multiply your sacrifices to me? says YHVH. I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the milk of the fattened ones. I have not desired the blood of bulls, of lambs, and of goats.

1.12 For you have come to see whose face it is that demands this from you, O Rameses, who tramples on my walls.

1.13 You shall not add to it, you shall bring a vain offering, an abomination to me, incense, abomination, it is to me, new moon and sabbath, read a book, I will not eat fornication, and I will stop.

1.14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts are a burden to me, and I am weary of bearing them.

1.15 And when you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

1.16 Wash yourselves, be clean, remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes, cease from doing evil.

1.17 Learn well, seek justice, make the bitter bitter, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

1.18 Go now and see, saith YHVH. though your sins be as years, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

1.19 If you are hungry and hear the good of the land, you will eat.

1.20 But if you refuse and draw the sword, you shall be devoured, for the mouth of YHVH has spoken.

1.21 How could a prostitute have a faithful city? I would have filled it with justice and righteousness, and now murderers have settled in it!

1.22 Your money was like dross, your grandfather mixed with water.

1.23 A rebellious king, and companions of thieves, all of them love bribes and persecute, so that they do not judge the fatherless, and the widow's cause does not come to them.

1.24 Therefore thus saith YHVH GOD of hosts, the mighty one of Israel; I will comfort Egypt, and I will avenge myself of my enemies.

1.25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and gather together thy dross, and take away all thy snares.

1.26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning. afterward thou shalt be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.

1.27 Zion shall be redeemed in judgment, and her captivity in righteousness.

1.28 And he destroyed transgressions and sins together, and they that forsook YHVH were able.

1.29 For the rams which you desired have withered away, and the strongholds which you chose have been destroyed.

1.30 For you will be like a dead plant, like a garden that has no water.

1.31 And the fire was kindled against the fire, and they were kindled against the fire, and both of them burned together, and there was no quenching.

2.1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2.2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of YHVH'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

2.3 And many people shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of YHVH, to the house of the God of Jacob; let us learn of his ways, and let us walk in his paths. for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of YHVH from Jerusalem.

2.4 And he shall judge among the nations, and rebuke many people. and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

2.5 O house of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of YHVH.

2.6 For the house of Jacob has forsaken you, because the east is full of clouds, like the Philistines, and the children of the nations are satisfied.

2.7 And his land was filled with silver and gold, and there was no end to his treasures; and his land was filled with horses, and there was no end to his chariots.

2.8 And his land shall be filled with idols, the work of his hands. they shall worship that which his fingers have made.

2.9 And let a man bow down, and a man be humbled, and do not lift him up to them.

2.10 Come to the stone and bury it in the dust, for fear of YHVH and for the splendor of his majesty.

2.11 The eyes of the lofty ones are humbled, and the loftiness of men is brought low, and YHVH alone shall be exalted in that day.

2.12 For the day of YHVH of hosts is upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up and humbled.

2.13 And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,

2.14 And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the lofty hills,

2.15 And upon every high tower, and upon every wall in the form of a

2.16 And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant ships.

2.17 And the haughtiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low, and YHVH alone shall be exalted in that day.

2.18 And the idols shall pass away altogether.

2.19 And they came into narrow caves and holes in the ground for fear of YHVH, and for the glory of his majesty when he arose to the earth.

2.20 In that day a man will throw away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which they made for him to worship, to the moles and to the bats.

2.21 To enter into the narrow clefts and the clefts of the rocks, for fear of YHVH, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake the earth.

2.22 Cease ye from the man that hath breath in his nostrils. for what is he accounted of?

3.1 For behold, YHVH GOD of hosts doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the staff and the support, the whole support of bread, and the whole support of water.

3.2 A mighty man and a man of war, a judge and a prophet and a sorcerer and an elder,

3.3 A captain of fifty, and a counselor, and a wise man, and a wise man, and a wise man, whispered.

3.4 And I will give young men as their princes, and deceit shall rule over them.

3.5 And the people came near, one against another, and one against another. the young man fought against the old, and the weak against the strong.

3.6 If any man take hold of his brother, of his father's house, a garment, come, be our captain, and this stumbling block shall be under thine hand.

3.7 In that day he will say, "I will not be a Cushite; and in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; you shall not make me a ruler over the people."

3.8 For Jerusalem is become a desolation, and Judah is fallen. because their tongue and their doings are against YHVH, despite the poverty of his glory.

3.9 The knowledge of their faces has been revealed to them, and their sin has been revealed like Sodom; it has not been destroyed. Woe to their soul, for they have rewarded them evil.

3.10 The righteous say, "It is good for them to eat the fruit of their deeds."

3.11 Woe to the wicked, for the recompense of his own hands shall be done to him.

3.12 My people have gone astray, and their wives have been their companions. My people have made you a liar, and they have swallowed up the way of your pleasures.

3.13 We stand before YHVH to plead his case, and to judge the peoples.

3.14 YHVH will come in judgment with the elders of his people and his princes, and you have burned the vineyard, you have robbed the poor in your houses.

3.15 Their kings oppress my people and crush the faces of the poor, says YHVH GOD of hosts.

3.16 And YHVH said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with bowed necks, and wink with their eyes, they shall go astray, and shall trample with their feet.

3.17 And the servant of YHVH shall be a scorner unto the daughters of Zion. and YHVH shall be a scorner unto the daughters of Zion.

3.18 In that day YHVH will take away the glory of the scepters, the scepters, and the scepters.

3.19 The ordinations and the service and the poisonings

3.20 The glories and the marches and the connections and the houses of the soul and the spells

3.21 The rings and the nose rings

3.22 The scepters and the envelopes and the handkerchiefs and the engravings

3.23 And the scrolls, and the sheets, and the veils, and the foils

3.24 And there shall be under the name of Mac, and under the girdle of a girdle, and under the work of a girdle of a girdle of sackcloth, for under the beauty of beauty.

3.25 Your slain shall fall by the sword, and your might in war.

3.26 And we and Abul Phatyaha, and the land shall be inhabited.

4.1 And seven women took hold of one man in that day, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel. only let thy name be called upon us, take away our reproach.

4.2 In that day the plant of YHVH shall be for beauty and honor, and the fruit of the earth for excellency and glory, for the deliverance of Israel.

4.3 And it shall be, that he that remaineth in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be holy; to him shall be said all that is written concerning life in Jerusalem.

4.4 If YHVH washes away the blood of the daughters of Zion, and cleanses the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

4.5 And YHVH created over the whole base of mount Zion, and over the whole city, a cloud by day, and smoke, and the pillar of fire, and a flaming flame by night. for over all the glory was a covering.

4.6 And the tabernacle shall be for a shadow by day from the sword, and for a covert, and for a hiding place from storm and rain.

5.1 I will sing to my friend a song of my uncle concerning his vineyard. My friend had a vineyard in the valley of Ben Shemen.

5.2 And he fortified it, and stoned it, and planted it with a hedge, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a winepress in it, and made it a place for growing grapes, and made it a firewood.

5.3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray thee, between me and my vineyard.

5.4 What more can I do to my vineyard, and I have not done it? Why did I hope to produce grapes, and it is in vain?

5.5 And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. take away its hedge, and it shall be trodden down; break down its hedge, and it shall be trodden down.

5.6 And I will make it a tree, it shall not sing, nor be afraid. and the myrtle shall come up, and the thorn shall grow. and I will command the trees that shall rain upon it.

5.7 For the vineyard of YHVH of hosts is the house of Israel, and the man of Judah hath planted his delights. and he hath established it for judgment. and, behold, a flock for righteousness, and, behold, an outcry.

5.8 Woe to you who come from house to house, from field to field, they will destroy you until there is no more room, and you will be left alone in the midst of the land.

5.9 In the ears of YHVH of hosts, if there are not many houses for her sake, they shall be greater and better than no dwelling place.

5.10 For ten pairs of vines shall make one daughter, and a seed of hemlock shall make a place.

5.11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning, for they will pursue me with drunkenness, and they will inflame me with wine.

5.12 And the harp, and the lyre, and the tabret, and the pipe, and wine, shall be their drinkers. and they shall not behold the work of YHVH, neither shall they consider the operation of his hands.

5.13 Therefore he has led my people into exile without knowledge, and his glory in times of famine, and his people in times of thirst.

5.14 Therefore Saul enlarged her soul, and opened her mouth without limit. and the glory and the honor and the pride came down, and she rejoiced in it.

5.15 And man shall be humbled, and man shall be brought low, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.

5.16 And YHVH of hosts is exalted in judgment, and the holy God is sanctified in righteousness.

5.17 And they shall feed sheep according to their word, and shall devour the swords of strangers.

5.18 Woe to those who drag iniquity with ropes of the yoke, and like the fat of a bullock, sin is like a yoke of oxen.

5.19 They say, "Let him hasten and act quickly, so that he may see and draw near, and the counsel of the Holy One of Israel may come and be known."

5.20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, darkness for light and light for darkness, bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

5.21 Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes, and are built in their own sight!

5.22 Woe to the mighty to drink wine, and the mighty to the strong to drink strong drink!

5.23 Those who justify the wicked for a bribe will take away the righteousness of the righteous from him.

5.24 Therefore as the tongue of fire devoureth stubble, and as the flame devoureth, so shall it be as stubble, and their fruit shall go up as dust. because they have rejected the law of YHVH of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

5.25 Therefore the anger of YHVH was kindled against his people, and he stretched out his hand against them, and they smote them, and the mountains were moved, and their carcases were as the dung of the field in the midst of the fields. Nevertheless his anger was not turned away, but his hand was stretched out still.

5.26 And he shall shew a wonder unto the nations afar off, and shall hiss unto him from the end of the earth. and, behold, he shall come quickly.

5.27 He is not weary or weak; he will not slumber or sleep; his loins will not be untied or his sandal straps will be untied.

5.28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all his bows are like the hoofs of his horses, and his wheels are like silver.

5.29 He roared like a lion, and roared like the infidels, and roared, and seized the prey, and delivered it, and there was none to deliver.

5.30 And he roared against him in that day like a roaring sea, and he looked toward the land, and behold, darkness was thick, and the light was dark in its corners.

6.1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw YHVH sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

6.2 Above him stood seraphim, each with six wings. with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

6.3 And they cried one to another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is YHVH of hosts. the whole earth is full of his glory.

6.4 And the posts of the thresholds shall move at the voice of him that calleth, and the house shall be filled with smoke.

6.5 And I said, Woe is me, for I am fallen; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. for mine eyes have seen the King, YHVH of hosts.

6.6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a piece of cloth with tongs, which he took from off the altar.

6.7 And he touched my mouth, and said, Behold, this toucheth thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin atoned for.

6.8 And I heard the voice of YHVH, saying, Whom shall I send? and who will go for us? And I said, Behold, I have sent me.

6.9 And he said unto thee, And thou shalt say unto this people, Hear ye indeed, and understand not; and see ye indeed, and see not.

6.10 The heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull, and their eyes they have closed. lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and be healed.

6.11 And he said, How long, O Lord? And he said, Until when shall cities be laid waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land be desolate?

6.12 And YHVH cast out man, and the forsaken increased in the midst of the earth.

6.13 And she shall be a desolation, and shall return, and shall be as an oak, whose seed is holy, and whose foundation is like unto a pillar.

7.1 And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

7.2 And it was told the house of David, saying, Aram is come against Ephraim, and his heart is moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moved before the wind.

7.3 And YHVH said unto Isaiah, Go out now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shaar the son of Jehoshaphat, to the end of the conduit of the upper pool, by the highway of the fuller's field.

7.4 And thou shalt say unto him, Be of good cheer, and be quiet. fear not, and let not thine heart faint. for these two tails of these smoking pipes are the fury of Rezin, and of Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

7.5 For Aram, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken counsel against you, saying,

7.6 We will go up against Judah, and we will cut it down, and we will make it our own, and we will set the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it.

7.7 Thus saith YHVH GOD; It shall not arise, nor be.

7.8 For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be cut off from the people.

7.9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son, if you will not believe, for you will not believe.

7.10 And YHVH spake yet again unto Ahaz, saying,

7.11 Ask thee a sign of YHVH thy God, whether it be a deep question or a high question.

7.12 And Ahaz said, I will not ask, nor tempt YHVH.

7.13 And he said, Hear now, O house of David, how little soever of you to weary men, that ye weary also my God!

7.14 Therefore YHVH himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and you shall call his name with us, God.

7.15 Butter and honey he eats in his own opinion, he abhors evil and is a lover of good.

7.16 For before the child knows how to refuse evil and choose good, the land where you are will be forsaken because of its two kings.

7.17 YHVH will bring on you, and on your people, and on your father's house, days that have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah, the king of Assyria.

7.18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that YHVH shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost parts of the fields of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

7.19 And they came and rested all of them in the ravines of the rocks, and in the clefts of the rocks, and in all the ravines, and in all the ravines.

7.20 In that day shall my lord shave with a razor hired beyond the river by the king of Assyria the head, and the hair of the feet, and also the beard; it shall consume it.

7.21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall live with a cart of oxen, and with two sheep.

7.22 And it shall come to pass, that he that maketh much milk shall eat butter. for butter and honey shall all that remain in the midst of the land eat.

7.23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place where there were a thousand vines for a thousand pieces of silver shall be for dill and shall be for a thousand pieces of silver.

7.24 With arrows and bow shall he come thither. for the whole land shall be a thornbush and a weed.

7.25 And all the mountains that are in the wilderness shall be desolate. the fear of Shamir and Shit shall not come thither. and it shall be for the ox that sendeth, and for the ram that treadeth down.

8.1 And YHVH said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write therein with a man's pen, to hasten the spoil, to make haste

8.2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jebarekiah,

8.3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. And YHVH said unto me, Call his name, O swift of prey, O desolate, O desolate.

8.4 For before the child knew it, he cried out, "My father and my mother, he will carry away the army of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria before the king of Assyria."

8.5 And YHVH spake yet more unto me, saying,

8.6 For this people is weary of him who sends those who walk slowly and who oppress Rezin and the son of Remaliah.

8.7 Therefore, behold, YHVH brings up against them the waters of the great and many rivers, the king of Assyria and all his glory, and he shall go over all his channels, and go over all his banks.

8.8 And he passed through Judah, and passed over, and came even unto the neck of Zoar. and the span of his wings was full, and the breadth of thy land was with us unto the

8.9 Let the peoples pasture and reap and listen; all the ends of the earth gather together and reap, gather together and reap.

8.10 Take counsel together, and break their word, and it shall not stand. for God is with us.

8.11 For thus said YHVH unto me, As the hand is strong, and he hath restrained me from going the way of this people, saying,

8.12 You shall not say a conspiracy to any of these people, "Conspiracy," and you shall not fear them or be afraid of them.

8.13 You shall sanctify YHVH of hosts, and he shall be your fear, and he shall be your admonition.

8.14 And it shall be for a sanctuary, and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offense to both houses of Israel, for a snare and a trap to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

8.15 And many stumbled in them, and fell, and were broken, and were smitten, and were taken.

8.16 Create a signed Torah certificate in Lamidi

8.17 And I waited for YHVH, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I hoped in him.

8.18 Behold, I and the children whom YHVH hath given me are for signs and wonders in Israel from YHVH of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

8.19 And if they say unto you, Seek unto the fathers, and to the wise men that divine, and to the diviners; should not a people seek unto their God for the living, even unto the dead?

8.20 To the law and to the testimony, if they do not say as this thing which has no meaning,

8.21 And he passed through it, hard and hungry. and it came to pass, when he was hungry, that he was wroth, and cursed his king and his God, and turned his face upward.

8.22 And he looked to the land, and behold, trouble and darkness, from the height of the rock, and darkness from afar.

8.23 For it is not lifted up to be firm for her now. the first was light, the land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali; and the latter was heavy, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.

9.1 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; they who dwell in the land of the shadow of death have seen a great light; a light has shone on them.

9.2 Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast not increased the joy. they rejoice before thee as with joy in harvest, when they divide the spoil.

9.3 For you are the head of his burden, and the scepter, like a tribe that approaches, you have cut off Midian today.

9.4 For every sun is in a tumult, and a garment rolled in blood, and the burning is like a consuming fire.

9.5 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. and the government shall be upon his shoulder. and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor to the mighty, Abijah, Prince of Peace.

9.6 Of the increase of the government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to establish it with judgment and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. the zeal of YHVH of hosts shall do this.

9.7 The word of YHVH is sent into Jacob, and it is fallen upon Israel.

9.8 And the people shall know that Ephraim is all, and Samaria dwelleth in pride and haughtiness, saying,

9.9 The bricks have fallen, but we have built with ash; the sycamores have been cut down, but we have replaced them with cedars.

9.10 And YHVH shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and shall cause his enemies to contend with him.

9.11 Aram before, and the Philistines behind, and they devoured Israel with every mouth. yet his nose turned not away, but his hand was stretched out still.

9.12 And the people returned not until they were smitten, neither did they seek YHVH of hosts.

9.13 And YHVH cut off from Israel head and tail, paw and heel, in one day.

9.14 An old man and a proud man is the head, and a false prophet is the tail.

9.15 And the leaders of this people will be deceived, and their leaders will be devoured.

9.16 Therefore YHVH will not rejoice over his young men, and will not have mercy on his fatherless and widows; for all his heart is deceit and wickedness, and every mouth speaketh perverseness. yet his nose turneth not away, and his hand is stretched out still.

9.17 For it burns like a wicked fire, devouring the myrtle and the nettle, and setting fire to the thickets of the forest, and causing them to rise up in a cloud of smoke.

9.18 Through the transgression of YHVH of hosts the earth trembleth, and the people are as the fuel of the fire. they shall not spare any man his brother.

9.19 And he judged on the right hand, and hungered, and he ate on Samuel, and they were not satisfied. they shall eat every man the flesh of his seed.

9.20 Manasseh and Ephraim, and Ephraim and Manasseh together, are against Judah. Nevertheless his anger is not turned away, but his hand is still stretched out.

10.1 Woe to the engravers, engravers of iniquity, and writers of labor, who write.

10.2 To turn aside the poor from judgment, and to rob the needy of my people of their right, to make widows their prey, and to despise the fatherless.

10.3 And what will you do in the day of visitation and in the day of destruction, when it comes from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory?

10.4 He who does not bow down under the prisoner and under the slain will fall, yet his nose does not turn back, and his hand is still stretched out.

10.5 O Assyria, the tribe of my anger, and the staff in their hand is my wrath.

10.6 I will send him to a contemptible nation, and to a people I have passed by, to plunder and to plunder, and to trample him like clay in the streets.

10.7 But he will not think so, nor will he think so in his heart, but to destroy in his heart, and to cut off nations not many.

10.8 For he shall say, Are not the princes kings together?

10.9 Are we not all as Carchemish? Or as Arpad, Hamath? Or as Damascus, Samaria?

10.10 When my hand found the kingdom of the idols and their images in Jerusalem and Samaria,

10.11 For as I have done to Samaria and to Amalek, so will I do to Jerusalem and to Naphtali.

10.12 And it shall come to pass, when YHVH shall have performed all his work upon mount Zion and upon Jerusalem, that I will punish the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the excellency of his high looks.

10.13 For he said, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom I am built, and I will remove the bounds of the peoples, and their future I will destroy, and I will bring down the inhabitants like a mighty man.

10.14 And you shall be found as a nest in my hand for the multitude of the nations, and as one gathereth eggs, I have gathered them that are forsaken of all the earth; and there was none that wandered with wings, nor that flapped its mouth, nor chirped.

10.15 The axe will boast of its hewer, if the saw will boast of its handle as if it were a tribe, and those who lift it up as if it were a branch, not a tree.

10.16 Therefore YHVH GOD of hosts shall send leanness in his fat ones, and under his burden he shall burn, as the burning of a fire.

10.17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his holiness for a flame and a burning, and it shall devour his drink and his rest in one day.

10.18 And the glory of his forest and of his Carmel shall be consumed, from soul to flesh, and it shall be as a scalding fire.

10.19 And the rest of the trees of the forest shall be numbered, and a young man shall write them.

10.20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and the escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more lean upon his sword, but shall lean upon YHVH, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

10.21 The remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty One.

13.3 I have commanded my sanctuary, I have also called my mighty ones to my mouth, and my glory rejoices.

13.4 The sound of a multitude in the mountains, the likeness of a great people, the noise of the kingdoms of the nations being gathered together. YHVH of hosts is the commander of the army of war.

13.18 And the bows of the young men shall be broken, and the fruit of the womb shall not be pitied, neither shall their eye spare.

13.19 And Babylon shall be the pride of the kingdoms of the glory of the Chaldeans, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

13.21 And there shall fleets lie down, and their houses shall be filled with brethren. and daughters of ostriches shall dwell there, and goats shall dance there.

13.22 And he answered and said, He will not prolong his days, but will give to his widows, and to the jackals in the palaces of Ang, and to come soon, and his days shall not be prolonged.

14.7 Rest in peace, all the earth has broken forth into joy.

14.8 Even the cypresses rejoiced over you, the cedars of Lebanon; since you lay down, no recognition has risen up against us.

14.9 Sheol from below has been angry with you at your coming; it has stirred up ghosts for you; all the treasures of the earth have been raised from their thrones; all the kings of the nations have been raised from their thrones.

14.10 They will all answer and say to you, “You too are sick like us, and you have become like us.”

14.11 Go down to Sheol, your glory, your slain, your corpses will be destroyed in your place, and worms will cover you.

14.12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O son of dawn! art thou cut off to the earth, dominating over nations?

14.13 And thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend above the stars of heaven, and I will sit upon the mount of Moad, in the sides of the north.

14.14 I will raise up on my high places a thick layer of earth.

14.15 But you will go down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.

14.16 Those who look to you will watch you, they will observe you. This man is a troubler of the earth, a troubler of kingdoms.

14.17 There the world is like a wilderness, and its cities are desolate, its prisoners are not opened.

14.18 All the kings of the nations lie in glory, each in his own house.

14.19 And you have cast yourself out of your grave like a detestable thing, clothed with the slain, with swords drawn, going down to the stones of the pit, like a slain carcass.

14.25 To break Assyria in my land, and upon the mountains of our pastures, and to remove them from them, and to suffer from them, as they are removed.

14.26 This is the counsel that is given over the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.

14.27 For YHVH of hosts hath purposed, and who can break it? and his hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?

14.28 In the year that King Ahaz died, this burden was

14.31 The wailing of the gate, the wailing of the city, the wailing of the Philistines, all of you, for out of the north comes a smoke, and there is no one left in his appointed time.

14.32 And what shall the angel of the Gentiles answer? For YHVH hath founded Zion, and in her shall he dwell the poor of his people.

15.4 And Heshbon shall cry, and Elah shall cry, even unto Jahaz shall their voice be heard. therefore shall the loins of Moab be ashamed. his soul shall be consumed in him.

15.5 My heart for Moab cries out for help, for the chariots are in distress, for the mountain of YHVH is in mourning, for the mountain of YHVH is in mourning, for the way of the horn is in mourning.

15.6 For the water of the leopards shall be of the name of YHVH. for the grass is withered, and there is no green grass.

15.7 Therefore he made a remnant, and they were numbered by the river of the Arabah, and they were carried away.

15.8 For the cry has gone round about the border of Moab, even to Egil, it howls, and to the wells of Edom, it howls.

15.9 For the waters of Dimon are full of blood. for I will bring more upon Dimon, to loose the lion of Moab, and to the remnant of the land.

16.9 Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer, O vine, where I will water you; I will weep with tears of reckoning and of mourning, because the sound of your summer and your harvest has fallen.

16.10 And joy and gladness shall be gathered from Carmel. and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall wine be shaken in the winepresses, neither shall the way be trodden down. I have restored thee.

21.5 The table is set, the watch is watched, the eat is drunk, the ministers are anointed, the shield is anointed.

22.17 Behold, YHVH will shake you with a mighty shaking, and your strength will be shaken.

22.18 Your crown will be crowned with a crown of gold, to a land of broad hands, where you will die, and there the chariots of your glory will be the disgrace of your master's house.

23.1 The ships of Tarshish lamented, "The burden is heavy, for plunder from the house of Mevo, from the land of the Cushites, has been revealed to them."

23.2 The blood of the inhabitants of the isle of the merchant, Sidon, beyond the sea, is poured out.

23.3 And by many waters the dawn of harvest sowed its grain, and it became the merchandise of the nations.

23.4 Be ashamed of Sidon, for the strong sea has said, "I have not labored, nor given birth, nor brought up young men; I have nourished virgins."

23.5 When he hears of the Egyptians, they will be as if they had heard of a calamity.

23.6 Pass over Tarshish, wail, the inhabitants of the island.

23.7 This is your joy from ancient times; her feet will wear out from afar to dwell.

23.8 Who has counseled this against the narrow-minded city, whose merchants sing like Canaanites, the honorable of the land?

23.9 YHVH of hosts hath taken counsel to bring to nought the proud, to bring to nought all the honourable of the earth.

23.10 Your land is like the daughter of Tarshish, there is no more port.

23.11 He stretched out his hand over the sea, he angered the kingdoms of YHVH, he commanded Canaan to destroy its strongholds.

23.12 And he said, Thou shalt no more add to the trouble of the virgin daughter of Sidon, O Israel. arise, O Hebrew, there also shalt thou have no rest.

23.13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans is this. the people were not Assyria, they founded it for armies, they built it in his sight, they built up its palaces, it is there for destruction.

23.14 Howl, you ships of Tarshish, for your strength is plundered.

23.15 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the captivity shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. and at the end of seventy years shall the captivity be as the song of a harlot.

23.16 Take up your harp, O forgotten harlot city, and play the Rebbe a song so that you may remember.

23.17 And it shall come to pass at the end of seventy years, that YHVH shall visit Tyre, and she shall return to her idols, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the earth upon the face of the earth.

23.18 And it shall be a tribute, and a holy offering unto YHVH. he shall not hoard it, nor lay it up. for they that sit before YHVH shall have it, to eat to the full, and to cover the old.

24.1 Behold, YHVH maketh the earth to be empty, and maketh it desolate, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

24.2 And he shall be as a people to a priest, as a servant to his master, as a maidservant to her mistress, as a buyer to her seller, as a bridegroom to her bride, as a wife to him who is married.

24.3 The earth shall tremble, and the people shall be ashamed. for YHVH hath spoken this thing.

24.4 The earth is in mourning, the world is in mourning, the heavens are in mourning with the earth.

24.5 And the land shall lie down under the inhabitants thereof. for they have transgressed the law, they have changed the ordinance, they have broken the everlasting covenant.

24.6 Therefore these things devour the land, and they that dwell therein are guilty. therefore the inhabitants of the land are dismayed, and few men are left.

24.7 But the wine is wretched, and the vine is wretched; all the merry of heart sigh.

24.8 The Sabbath is a day of rejoicing, the sound of drums ceases, the Sabbath is a day of rejoicing, the sound of the harp ceases.

24.9 In song they shall not drink wine, bitter intoxicating drink for the drunkards.

24.10 Kiryat Tehu was broken, every house of entry was closed.

24.11 There is a shout for wine in the fields of the wilderness, all joy in the wilderness of the land.

24.12 He remained in the city where he was, and where he struck the gate.

24.13 For thus it shall be in the midst of the land, among the peoples, as the gleaning of an olive tree, as the gleaning of a woman's harvest.

24.14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the glory of YHVH. the waters shall be joyful.

24.15 Therefore YHVH has made wells in the islands of the sea, the name of YHVH, the God of Israel.

24.16 From the wings of the earth we heard a song of a deer to the righteous, saying, "Shrug me, scold me, woe to me! They have betrayed me, and the treacherous have betrayed me."

24.17 Fear and trembling and gloom be upon you, O inhabitant of the land.

24.18 And it shall come to pass, that at the sound of fear he shall fall into the pit, and he that cometh up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. for the locusts shall be opened from on high, and the foundations of the earth shall shake.

24.19 Evil has shaken the earth, the earth has crumbled, the earth has collapsed, the earth has collapsed.

24.20 The earth shall be moved like a drunkard, and shall totter like a manger. and her transgression shall be heavy upon her, and she shall fall, and shall rise no more.

24.21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that YHVH shall punish the host of the highest on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

24.22 And they shall gather a prisoner together into a pit, and shut him up in the prison, and shall number him many days.

24.23 And the white dust and the hot ashes shall be scattered. for YHVH of hosts reigneth in mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before his elders is glory.

25.1 O LORD my God, you are my God, I will praise your name, for you have done wonders, counsel from afar, faith, Amen.

25.2 For you have made a city a fortress, a palace for foreigners, a city that will never be rebuilt.

25.3 Therefore the people of the city of Gad will honor you; the oppressors of the nations will fear you.

25.4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy, a refuge for him from the storm of the sword, for the wind of the oppressors is like a storm against a wall.

25.5 As the sword in Zion, the noise of strangers shall be subdued. the sword shall subdue in the thick shadow of the nightingale the tyrants shall be punished.

25.6 And YHVH of hosts will make for all peoples in this mountain a feast of fat things, a feast of leavened bread, of fat things made with yeast, of leavened bread made with yeast, of refined

25.7 And in this mountain he will swallow up the face of the veil that is spread over all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

25.8 He will swallow up death forever, and YHVH GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth; for YHVH has spoken.

25.9 And he will say in that day, Behold, our God, we have waited for him, and he will save us. this is YHVH, we have waited for him; we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

25.10 For the hand of YHVH shall rest upon this mountain, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, as straw is trodden down in the waters of Dimnah.

25.11 And he spread out his hands in the midst of him, as a diver spreadeth out to swim, and brought down his pride with the multitude of his hands.

25.12 And from the height of your walls the lowly one has come down to the earth, even to the dust.

26.1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah. A strong city is our salvation; he shall build walls and a wall.

26.2 Open the gates, and let the righteous nation enter, guarding the craftsmen.

26.3 He who is near shall seek peace, peace; for in you he trusts.

26.4 Trust in YHVH, my witnesses, until YHVH establish an everlasting fortress.

26.5 For YHVH will bring down the lofty city, the high city, to the ground, and bring it down to the dust.

26.6 The feet of the poor will trample the feet of the needy.

26.7 I will make a straight path for the righteous, and I will make a straight path for the righteous.

26.8 I will also make your judgments a feast, O LORD; I have called you for your name, and your remembrance is the desire of the soul.

26.9 My soul has sought you in the night, my spirit within me has been troubled. For when your judgments are righteous, the inhabitants of the world learn.

26.10 The wicked will not learn righteousness in the land of the valley of trouble, nor will he see the majesty of YHVH.

26.11 O LORD, lift up your hand, and let them not see visions, they shall see and wither, the envy of a people of wrath; a fire shall consume them.

26.12 O LORD, you will grant us peace, for you have also worked for us all our works.

26.13 O Lord our God, there are no lords besides you; in you alone will we make mention of your name.

26.14 The dead shall not live, the ghosts shall not rise. therefore shalt thou visit and destroy them, and all memory of them shall perish.

26.15 You will increase the nation, O LORD, you will increase the nation, you will be honored far away, all the ends of the earth.

26.16 YHVH has visited you in trouble, he has given you a secret, he has given you a secret to them.

26.17 As a woman with child, drawing near to give birth, begins to cry out in her sorrow, so we have been before you, O LORD.

26.18 Behold, we have conceived, as it were, a spirit of salvation, lest we be made an earth, and the inhabitants of the world fall.

26.19 Your dead will live, your corpses will be buried; wake up and let your neighbors in the dust rejoice, for the dew of your light will fall on you, and the land of the dead will fall.

26.20 Go, my people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself for a moment, until the wrath has passed by.

26.21 For, behold, YHVH cometh out of his place to visit the iniquity of the inhabitants of the earth upon him. and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

27.1 In that day YHVH with his sore and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, and Leviathan the crooked serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.

27.2 On that day, a pleasant vineyard was answered.

27.3 I, YHVH, will guard it for a moment; I will keep it, lest it be visited by night or day.

27.4 I have no one to give me a shield, let alone a sword in a fierce battle, in which I will kindle a fire together.

27.5 Or he will strengthen me in my stronghold, he will make peace for me, he will make peace for me.

27.6 They that come shall take root, Jacob shall bud, and Israel shall blossom, and they shall fill the face of the world with fruit.

27.7 If you strike him, strike him, if you kill him, kill him.

27.8 In Sassae, in the morning, in the morning, he conceived in his strong spirit,

27.9 Therefore by this shall the iniquity of Jacob be atoned for, and this is all the fruit of his righteousness. he shall take away his sin in his sight. All the stones of the altar shall be as the stones of a foreigner, broken to pieces; the Assyrians and the Huns shall not rise up.

27.10 For the city is desolate, desolate, and forsaken like a wilderness. there shall the calf feed, and there shall it lie down, and its branches shall be cut off.

27.11 In the dry season of harvest, women will come and light it, for it is not a people of understanding. Therefore, its maker will not have mercy on it, and its maker will not have pity.

27.12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that YHVH shall smite from the river even to the brook of Egypt. and ye shall be gathered together one by one, O children of Israel.

27.13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great trumpet shall be blown, and they that were lost in the land of Assyria, and they that were cast out in the land of Egypt, shall come, and worship YHVH in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

28.1 O crown of glory, O my lord Ephraim, and the lyre of the hart, his glory, which is upon the head of the valley of olive trees, full of wine.

28.2 Behold, I am strong and courageous for my Lord, like a flood of hail, like a flood of mighty waters that overflow, he has laid the earth in his hand.

28.3 The crown of the mighty ones of Ephraim will be trampled underfoot.

28.4 And the hart's crest was like a hart's lyre, his glory upon the head of the valley of olive trees, as the firstfruits before summer. he saw it, he showed it, while it was yet in his hand he devoured it.

28.5 In that day YHVH of hosts will be a crown of glory, and a horn of glory to the remnant of his people.

28.6 And to the spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and to the strength of them that return from battle,

28.7 And these also have erred through wine and strong drink. the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink. they are swallowed up in wine, they have erred through strong drink, they have erred in the work of their hands, they have committed iniquity.

28.8 For all the stores are filled with vomit and excrement, without place.

28.9 Who will teach knowledge, and who will understand a rumor? My reward is from milk, ancient from demons.

28.10 For precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, little by little, little by little.

28.11 For with barbarous tongues and with another tongue will he speak to this people.

28.12 To whom he said, This is the rest, let it alone, and this is the consolation, and I will not hear.

28.13 And the word of YHVH came unto them, precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, little by little, little by little, that they might go and stumble backward, and be broken, and be smitten, and be taken.

28.14 Therefore the men of Zoan heard the word of YHVH, the proverbs of this people that are in Jerusalem.

28.15 Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have made a covenant with a flowing stream. for it is past, it shall not come unto us. for we have made lies our refuge, and in falsehood we have hid ourselves.

28.16 Therefore thus saith YHVH GOD; Behold, I lay in Zion a stone, a tried stone, a precious foundation, a foundation that he that believeth shall not make haste.

28.17 And I will make judgment to the line, and righteousness to the balance. and hail shall cover a lie, and the waters shall wash away the secret.

28.18 And your covenant with death shall be atoned for, and your fear with Sheol shall not be lifted up, for it shall pass by, and ye shall be his trampling ground.

28.19 Every day it will take you away, for morning by morning it will pass by day and night, and it will be only a terror, a rumor understood.

28.20 For the bed is shorter than the bedspread, and the veil is narrower than the curtain.

28.21 For YHVH will rise up like a mountain of floods, like the valley of Gibeon, to do his work, his work is strange, and to serve his servants, his servants are strangers.

28.22 And now, do not mock, lest your morals be strengthened. for I have heard from YHVH GOD of hosts a decree, and a decree, upon all the earth.

28.23 Listen and hear my voice; listen and hear what I have said.

28.24 Today the plowman will plow for the seed of Jephthah and plunder his land.

28.25 If she beautifies her face, and spreads her brow, and casts forth oil, and there is a row of wheat, and her hair is marked, and her hair is her border.

28.26 And they shall be brought to judgment, and their God shall teach them.

28.27 For a hoe shall not be cut in a hole, nor shall a cart be turned upon a hoe. but a hoe shall be beaten with a staff, and a hoe with a threshing floor.

28.28 Bread shall be pressed, for it shall not be trodden down forever, and the wheel of his chariot and his horsemen shall not be pressed down.

28.29 This also comes from YHVH of hosts, wonderful counsel, great in wisdom.

29.1 O Ariel, Ariel, Kiryat Hanna, David, they shall be gathered together, year after year, and feasts shall be cut off.

29.2 And I will afflict Ariel, and she shall be a vessel, and she shall be to me as Ariel.

29.3 And I will set a siege ramp against you, and I will build a siege ramp against you, and I will build a siege ramp against you.

29.4 And thou shalt speak lowly out of the earth, and thy speech shall be of the dust. and thy voice shall be grievous out of the earth, and thy speech shall hiss out of the dust.

29.5 And the multitude of the oppressors shall be as fine dust, and the multitude of the oppressors shall pass away as a handful of chaff. and it shall be suddenly, and suddenly,

29.6 From YHVH of hosts came thunder and noise, and a great voice, a whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.

29.7 And it was as a dream of a vision by night, a multitude of all the nations, the harts upon Ariel, and all her harts, and her tyrants, and her tormentors.

29.8 And it shall come to pass, as the hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth, and is satisfied, and his soul is empty. and as the thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh, and is satisfied, and is weary, and his soul is faint. so shall the multitude of all the nations be, and the harts upon mount Zion.

29.9 They lingered and wondered; they played and were drunk, but not with wine; they moved and not with wine.

29.10 For YHVH hath poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes, the prophets, and the heads of your seers, hath he covered.

29.11 And all things shall be unto you as the words of a sealed book, which they shall deliver to him that knoweth the law, saying, Read this, I pray thee. and I say, I cannot; for it is sealed.

29.12 And he gave the scribe to him that knew not the law, saying, Read this, I pray thee. And he said, I know not the law.

29.13 And YHVH said, Because this people draw near me with their mouth and with their lips, and honor me with their mouth, but their heart is far from me, and their fear of me is taught by the commandments of men,

29.14 Therefore, behold, I will add a marvel to this people, a marvel of wonders. and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

29.15 Woe to those who seek counsel from YHVH, to hide it from him, and whose works are in the dark, and they say, "Who has seen us? Who knows us?"

29.16 If the creature thinks like clay, then the work will say to its maker, "I did not make me," and the creature will say to its maker, "I did not understand."

29.17 Is it not yet a little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into Carmel, and Carmel shall be counted as a forest?

29.18 And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and out of obscurity and out of darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.

29.19 The meek shall rejoice in YHVH. and the poor of men shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

29.20 For the tyrant is no more, and the oppressor is no more, and all the branches of iniquity are cut off.

29.21 They that cause a man to err in word, and reprove him in the gate, they shall turn aside the righteous from his way.

29.22 Therefore thus saith YHVH unto the house of Jacob, which redeemed Abraham; Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.

29.23 For when his children see the work of my hands in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

29.24 And the foolish in spirit shall know understanding, and the scorners shall learn a lesson.

30.1 O rebellious children, saith YHVH, that take counsel, but not of me; and that devise a plan, but not of my spirit, that ye may add sin upon sin.

30.2 Those who go down to Egypt have not asked for strength in the strength of Pharaoh, nor for refuge in the shadow of Egypt.

30.3 And you shall have the strength of Pharaoh, and the shadow of Egypt shall be your refuge for a plague.

30.4 For his angels and his messengers were in his presence, and he came to them.

30.5 All who are shameful to a people will not profit them, neither to help nor to profit, but to shame and disgrace.

30.6 The burden of the beasts of the Negev in a narrow and rocky land, a lion and a viper, and a flying serpent, they shall carry their burdens on the shoulder of cities, and on the humps of camels, their treasure upon a people that shall not profit.

30.7 And Egypt shall help vanity and vanity. therefore I have called this Rahab, they are the Sabbath.

30.8 Now therefore write it upon a table of tables, and upon a book of the law, and let it be for the last day for ever and ever.

30.9 For it is a rebellious people, children who refuse to listen to the law of YHVH.

30.10 Who said to the seers, You shall not see, and to the diviners, You shall not divine unto us. speak unto us plainly, and divine unto us out of thine own heart.

30.11 Turn away from me out of the way, and from the way, and cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

30.12 Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel. Because ye have abhorred this thing, and have trusted in oppression and deceit, and have leaned upon it.

30.13 Therefore this iniquity shall be unto you as a breach broken in a high wall, whose breach shall suddenly come.

30.14 And he shall break it as the breaking of a harp, that maketh bands. he shall not pity, neither shall he find in his hammer a plow, to break out the fire of the compass, and to bring forth water out of the deep.

30.15 For thus saith YHVH GOD, the Holy One of Israel. In your return and rest ye shall be refreshed, in quietness and confidence shall be your strength, and not your fear.

30.16 And ye shall say, Nay; for we will flee upon horses, therefore ye shall be carried away. and we will ride upon light horses, therefore shall your pursuers be light.

30.17 A thousand for the rebuke of one, and for the rebuke of five, shall ye try, until ye be left as a crown upon the top of the mountain, and come down upon the hill.

30.18 Therefore YHVH will wait for your favor, and therefore he will be exalted in your compassion. For YHVH is a God of judgment. blessed are all they that wait for him.

30.19 For the people of Zion who dwell in Jerusalem weep, you will not weep; he will be gracious to you at the sound of your cry, when he hears you he will answer you.

30.20 And YHVH will give you scanty bread and scanty water, and your teachers will no longer be afraid, and your eyes will see your teachers.

30.21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way; walk in it, if ye will believe and hearken unto it.

30.22 And you have defiled the altar of your silver idols, and the ornament of your golden mask shall flow like filth. go out and say to him,

30.23 And he will give the rain of thy seed wherewith thou shalt sow the ground, and bread of the increase of the earth; and it shall be fat and fat. and thy cattle shall feed in that day in a large pasture.

30.24 And the thousands and cities, the servants of the land, shall eat in a bitter night that which is fled from the east, and from the west.

30.25 And upon every high mountain and upon every hill shall flow streams of water, in the day of great slaughter, when the towers fall.

30.26 And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be seven days, as the light of seven days. in the day that YHVH bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the bruise of his wound.

30.27 Behold, the name of YHVH cometh from afar, burning with wrath, and heavy with his burden. his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is like a devouring fire.

30.28 And his spirit, like a river flowing up to the neck, will pass through, to shake the nations with a wave of vanity, and a bridle of error on the cheeks of the peoples.

30.29 You will have a song, a holy feast, and gladness of heart, as one goes with a flute to come to the mountain of YHVH, to the fortress of Israel.

30.30 And YHVH shall make his voice to be heard, and shall show forth his arm, with the fierceness of his anger, and with the flame of a consuming fire, hailstones, and torrents, and hailstones.

30.31 For by the voice of YHVH shall Assyria be smitten with a tribe,

30.32 And it shall be, that every one that passeth over the foundation, which YHVH shall lay upon him, shall fight against it with tambourines, and with harps, and with warlike instruments.

30.33 For the one who was prepared yesterday will also be tempted by the king, who has prepared a deep and wide chamber, a fire and much wood; the breath of YHVH, like a stream of brimstone, has burned in it.

31.1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many, and in horsemen, because they are very strong; and they have not looked unto the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought YHVH.

31.2 He is also wise, and bringeth evil, and calleth not back his words. but riseth up against the house of the wicked, and against the help of workers of iniquity.

31.3 But the Egyptians are man, and not God; and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. And YHVH shall stretch out his hand, and he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that helpeth shall fall; and they shall all perish together.

31.4 For thus saith YHVH unto me, As a lion roareth, and roareth for his prey, when he calleth upon him a multitude of shepherds, and is not smitten by their voice, and is not answered by their noise. so shall YHVH of hosts come down for an army upon mount Zion, and upon her hill.

31.5 As birds fly, so will YHVH of hosts defend Jerusalem, and deliver Passover and the uncircumcised.

31.6 Return to the place where the Israelites have made a deep breach.

31.7 For in that day every man shall abhor the idols of his silver, and the idols of his gold, which your own hands have made for you,

31.8 And the Assyrian shall fall by the sword, and not a man. and the sword shall devour him, and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be for tribute.

31.9 And his rock shall pass away from the midst of thee, and his princes shall be cut off from the midst of thee, saith YHVH, whose light is in Zion, and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

32.1 Surely a king shall reign for righteousness, and princes for uprightness.

32.2 And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert of streams, as streams of water in Zion, as the shadow of a heavy rock in a weary land.

32.3 You will not be satisfied with the eyes of those who see, nor with the ears of those who hear.

32.4 And the heart of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the foolish shall hasten to speak plainly.

32.5 The wicked shall no more be called a generous man, nor shall the wicked be called a fool.

32.6 For a wicked man speaketh wickedly, and his heart worketh iniquity, to work flattery, and to speak perverse things against YHVH, to cause the hungry soul to empty, and to give drink to the thirsty.

32.7 And his instruments are evil, he deviseth wicked devices, to destroy the poor with lying words, and with words of injustice.

32.8 And he that is generous will counsel generosity, and he shall be established by generosity.

32.9 Women who are at ease have risen up, who have heard my voice, and daughters who are secure, I have said.

32.10 Days after a year, they will be troubled, for the harvest is finished, and there is no return.

32.11 They were afraid of complacency, they were angry with confidence, they were naked and naked, and they were girded about their loins.

32.12 On the demons of mourning, on the breasts of love, on the fruitful vine.

32.13 On the land of my people shall come up a thornbush, for upon all the houses of Meshush shall be a city of joy.

32.14 For the palace is abandoned by the multitude of the city, and the wilderness is abandoned, and the caves are searched for forever, and the wild beasts are the pastures of the flocks.

32.15 Until a wind from on high come upon us, and the wilderness shall be counted as Carmel, and Carmel as a forest.

32.16 And judgment dwelleth in the wilderness, and righteousness dwelleth in Carmel.

32.17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the work of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

32.18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceful abode, and in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

32.19 And the hail shall be as the hail of the forest, and the city shall be as the hail of the valley.

32.20 Blessed are you, my seed, upon all waters, sent forth by the foot of the ox and the donkey.

33.1 O robber, and thou art not a robber, nor a traitor, nor hast thou been betrayed. as a robber thou shalt be betrayed, as thou wast betrayed, so shall they betray thee.

33.2 O LORD, have mercy on us; our hope is in you; be their seed in the morning, even our salvation in the time of trouble.

33.3 At the sound of the multitude, the peoples fled; at your exaltation the nations were scattered.

33.4 And the ravenous beast gathered your spoil, as a flock of sheep, full of them.

33.5 YHVH is exalted, for he dwells on high, full of judgment and righteousness.

33.6 And the faith of thy times shall be good, and the salvation of wisdom. and the knowledge of the fear of YHVH is his treasure.

33.7 They cried out, "The angels of peace, YHVH of the worlds, have cried out."

33.8 They have breathed the Sabbath, they have gone astray, they have broken the covenant, they have destroyed cities, they have not considered man.

33.9 But the land of the ditch is wretched, Lebanon is withered, Sharon is like a desert, and Bashan and Carmel are withered.

33.10 Now will I arise, saith YHVH; now will I lift them up; now will I bear them up.

33.11 Be proud, and fear will bring forth straw; your spirit will consume you with fire.

33.12 And there were peoples burning thorns, like thorns that were kindled in the fire.

33.13 Let those who are far off hear what I have done, and let those who are near know, my lady.

33.14 Fear in Zion, sins have seized trembling, flatterers, who will cause us to be consumed by fire? who will cause us to be the fires of eternity?

33.15 He walks righteously and speaks uprightly, abhorring greed and oppression, a young man who leans on bribes, who stops his ears at the sound of blood, and his very eyes behold evil.

33.16 He dwells on high, on the crags of the rocks; from his height he gives his bread to the faithful from his days.

33.17 The king in his beauty shall behold your eyes, you shall see a land far off.

33.18 Your heart will be filled with fear, and you will be amazed

33.19 You will not see a bold people, a people of deep speech, a people of mocking hearing, a tongue devoid of understanding.

33.20 Look upon Zion, the city of our dwelling, your eyes shall see her, Jerusalem, the peaceful dwelling place of Shaanxi, a tent that will not be moved, its stakes will not be removed forever, and all its cords will not be broken.

33.21 For if YHVH has given us a great place, a place of rivers flowing and wide, do not pass through it; I will sail, and a mighty fleet will not pass over us.

33.22 For YHVH is our judge, YHVH is our lawgiver, YHVH is our king, he will save us.

33.23 They have abandoned your bonds, they have not strengthened them; they have not spread out a miracle, then they have divided up the spoils, they have multiplied the spoils, they have plundered the spoils.

33.24 And let him not say, I am sick. the people that dwell therein bear the iniquity.

34.1 Come near, you nations, to hear; and listen, you peoples. Let the earth hear, and you who are full of the world, and all its descendants.

34.2 For the anger of YHVH is against all the nations, and wrath against all their armies. he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath given them to the slaughter.

34.3 And their slain shall be cast out, and their carcasses shall rise up in guilt, and the mountains shall melt with their blood.

34.4 And all the host of heaven shall be gathered together, and shall be laid bare as the book of heaven. and all their host shall be cut off as the withering of the vine, and as the withering of the fig tree.

34.5 For my sword is fixed in the heavens; behold, it will come down upon Edom, and upon my people Haram, to judgment.

34.6 The sword of YHVH is filled with the blood of fatlings, with the blood of rams, and with the fat of goats, with the kidneys of rams. for YHVH hath a sacrifice in Bezer, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

34.7 And the rams shall go down with them, and the bulls with the horsemen. and their land shall be drenched with blood, and their dust with milk.

34.8 For it is the day of vengeance of YHVH, and the year of peace for the cause of Zion.

34.9 And the rivers thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the soot into brimstone, and the land shall be as burning pitch.

34.10 Night and day it shall not be quenched for ever; its smoke shall ascend from generation to generation; it shall be destroyed for ever and ever; there shall be no passing away in it.

34.11 And the Kathite shall inherit it, and the Kephudite, and the Owl, and the Arabian shall dwell therein. and he shall cast a line upon it, and the stones of the sea shall be upon it.

34.12 They shall be called a people, and there shall be no kingdom, and all her laws shall be in vain.

34.13 And her palaces shall rise up, and the pots of Chemosh and Og shall be in her fortresses; and there shall be a place for jackals, and grass for the ostriches.

34.14 And the fleets met the islands, and the goats cried out to each other, but there the night rested and found rest.

34.15 There she made a nest, and fled, and hatched, and brooded in her shadow. but there the breasts of her strange wife were gathered together.

34.16 Seek ye out of the book of YHVH, and read, One is beautiful, there is none lacking, a woman is not to be found, for his mouth is commanding, and his spirit is a beggar.

34.17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by a line for ever. they shall inherit it from generation to generation, and they shall dwell therein.

35.1 He shall make the wilderness to see, and the wilderness shall blossom as the lily.

35.2 The flower shall blossom and be revealed. the glory of Lebanon shall be given to it. Carmel and Sharon shall see the glory of YHVH, the glory of our God.

35.3 Strengthen the weak hands, and strengthen the feeble knees.

35.4 Say to the fainthearted, Be strong, fear not. behold, your God will come with vengeance; the recompense of God will come, and he will save you.

35.5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.

35.6 Then he will leap like a ram, and the tongue of the dumb will sing, for waters will break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

35.7 And the thirsty shall be for a pool, and the thirsty for springs of water, and the jackals shall lie down in the reeds and grass.

35.8 And there shall be there a path, and a way, and the way of holiness, it shall be called. the unclean shall not pass over it. and it shall be his way, and the wicked shall not err.

35.9 There shall be no lion there, nor fierce beasts, neither shall they be found there. and they shall go forth redeemed.

35.10 And the redeemed of YHVH shall dwell, and shall come to Zion with joy, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

36.1 And it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

36.2 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem with a great army to king Hezekiah, and he stood by the conduit of the upper pool, in the plain of the fuller's field.

36.3 Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, went out to him.

36.4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say, I pray thee, to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

36.5 I have spoken but with the lips, counsel and strength for war. now in whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?

36.6 Behold, you trust in the support of this bruised reed, in Egypt, on which a man leans, and it comes with his hand, and it breaks. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

36.7 And if thou say unto me, We trust in YHVH our God. is it not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said unto Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

36.8 Now therefore, please make an agreement with my lord the king of Assyria, and I will give you a thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.

36.9 How then can you turn away the face of one of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

36.10 And now, behold, I am come up against this land to destroy it. YHVH said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

36.11 Then said Eliakim, and Shebna, and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in Aramaic; for we understand it. and speak not unto us in the language of Judah in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

36.12 And Rabbah said, YHVH is your master, and to you hath my master sent me to speak these words. is it not to the men that sit on the wall, that they may eat their bread, and drink their wine with you?

36.13 Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in Judah, and said, Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.

36.14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah trouble you. for he shall not be able to deliver you.

36.15 And let not Hezekiah make you trust in YHVH, saying, YHVH will surely deliver us. this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

36.16 Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria. Make a covenant with me, and come out to me, and eat every man of his vine, and every man of his fig tree, and drink every man the water of his own cistern.

36.17 Until I come and take you to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

36.18 Lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, YHVH will deliver us. but the gods of the nations have delivered every man his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria.

36.19 Where is the God of Hamath and Arpad? Where is the God of Sepharvaim? And how has he delivered Samaria from my hand?

36.20 Who are they among all the gods of these countries, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that YHVH should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

36.21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word. for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

36.22 Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

37.1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of YHVH.

37.2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the son of Amoz the prophet.

37.3 And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy. for the children are come unto the breaking forth, and there is no strength to bring forth.

37.4 It may be that YHVH your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove him according to the words which YHVH your God has heard, and you will raise up a prayer for the remnant that is left.

37.5 And the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

37.6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith YHVH, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

37.7 Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear a rumor, and return to his own land. and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

37.8 And Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria fighting against Libnah. for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.

37.9 And it was heard of Tarshish king of Ethiopia, saying, He is come out to fight against thee. And he heard it, and sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

37.10 Thus shall ye say to Hezekiah king of Judah, Let not your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

37.11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by desolation, and you will be saved.

37.12 The gods of the nations that my fathers destroyed, Gozan, Haran, Rephaim, and the children of Eden who were in Telsher, delivered them.

37.13 The king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, and the king of Iddo,

37.14 And Hezekiah took the book from the hand of the messengers, and read it. and he went up to the house of YHVH, and Hezekiah spread it before YHVH.

37.15 And Hezekiah prayed unto YHVH, saying,

37.16 O LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. thou hast made heaven and earth.

37.17 Incline your ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to defy the living God.

37.18 Indeed, YHVH has destroyed all the lands and their lands.

37.19 And he shall cast their gods into the fire. for they are no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone. and they shall perish.

37.20 And now, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are YHVH.

37.21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith YHVH God of Israel, Because thou hast prayed unto me to Sennacherib king of Assyria,

37.22 This is the word which YHVH hath spoken concerning this. Thou shalt laugh at thee, O virgin daughter of Zion, after thee shall the head of the people be removed, O daughter of Jerusalem.

37.23 Whom have you reproached and blasphemed, and against whom have you lifted up your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high to the Holy One of Israel?

37.24 In the hand of thy servants thou hast scorned my lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up from the height of the mountains, I have gone up from Lebanon, and have cut down the height of the cedars, the choice branches thereof; and I have come from the height of the forest of Carmel.

37.25 I was cold and drank water, and I spent my days in a cup of water, all the years of my siege.

37.26 Hast thou not heard afar off, that I have made it of old, and formed it? now have I brought it forth, and it shall be for the waves to roar, hawks awake in trouble?

37.27 And their habitations were of short stature, cut down and dried up; they were the grass of the field, and the green herb, the hay for the roofs, and the seed before the corn.

37.28 And I know thy return, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

37.29 Because you are angry with me, and your slander has come up to my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way you came.

37.30 And this shall be the sign unto thee. eat this year of the increase, and in the second year of the increase. and in the third year sow and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat of the increase of cattle.

37.31 And the remnant of the house of Judah shall take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

37.32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion. the zeal of YHVH of hosts shall do this.

37.33 Therefore thus saith YHVH unto the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

37.34 By the way that he came he shall return, and shall not come into this city, saith YHVH.

37.35 And I will defend this city for salvation, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

37.36 And the angel of YHVH went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred and fourscore and five thousand. and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

37.37 And Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and dwelt at Nineveh.

37.38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Naser his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword. and they escaped into the land of Ararat. and Aserhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

38.1 In those days Hezekiah was sick unto death. and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith YHVH, Set thine house in order. for thou shalt die, and not live.

38.2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to YHVH.

38.3 And he said, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

38.4 Then came the word of YHVH unto Isaiah, saying,

38.5 Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus says YHVH, the God of David your father. I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add to your days fifteen years.

38.6 And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.

38.7 And this shall be a sign unto thee from YHVH, that YHVH will do this thing which he hath spoken.

38.8 Behold, I will bring back the shadow of the steps, which has gone down on the steps of Ahaz, ten steps backward, and the sun will go back ten steps by the steps by which it has gone down.

38.9 A letter to Hezekiah king of Judah, when he was sick, and he recovered from his illness.

38.10 I said, "In the blood of my days I will go to the gates of Sheol; I have counted the remainder of my years."

38.11 I said, I shall not see YHVH in the land of the living; I shall not see man any more with the inhabitants of the land of the living.

38.12 My generation is gone and I am far from the tent of my friends. I have kept my life as a thread. From day to night, you will make me whole.

38.13 I have been like a lion until morning; so all my bones are broken. Day and night you will heal me.

38.14 Like a galloping horse, so I will neigh, like a dove my eyes are set on high, my Lord has made me a prey.

38.15 What shall I say, and he hath made me a burden all my years in the bitterness of my soul?

38.16 My Lord, they shall live upon them, and all in them shall be the life of my spirit, and my dreams, and my eyes.

38.17 Behold, peace is bitter to me, and thou hast desired my soul, thou hast destroyed it without cause. for thou hast cast all my sins behind me.

38.18 For the grave shall not praise thee; death shall praise thee. they that go down into the pit shall not break thy covenant.

38.19 As I live, as I live, he will know you today, the father of children will declare your faithfulness.

38.20 O LORD, be my salvation, and my song. we will sing in the house of YHVH all the days of our life.

38.21 And Isaiah said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it upon the boil, and he shall live.

38.22 And Hezekiah said, What shall be the sign that I shall go up to the house of YHVH?

39.1 At that time Mordecai Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, when he heard that he had been sick and had recovered.

39.2 And Hezekiah rejoiced over them, and showed them the house of Nechadah, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and all the house of his vessels, and all that was found in his treasures. there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not show them.

39.3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, From a far country they came unto me, even from Babylon.

39.4 And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah said, They have seen all that is in mine house. there is nothing among my treasures that ye have not shewed me.

39.5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of YHVH of hosts.

39.6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon. nothing more shall be left, saith YHVH.

39.7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

39.8 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, Good is the word of YHVH which thou hast spoken, saying, There shall be peace and truth in my days.

40.1 Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God.

40.2 Speak ye heartily unto Jerusalem, and cry unto her, For her army is full. for she is ready to be punished. for she hath received of YHVH's hand double for all her sins.

40.3 A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight in the wilderness the way of YHVH, a highway for our God.

40.4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. and the crooked shall become a plain, and the rough places a plain.

40.5 And the glory of YHVH shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together. for the mouth of YHVH hath spoken.

40.6 A voice called out, saying, What shall I call? All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the grass of the field.

40.7 The grass of the field is withered, the grass of the people is withered, because the Spirit of YHVH blows upon it.

40.8 The grass withers and the grass withers, but the word of our God endures forever.

40.9 Go up to a high mountain, O bearer of good tidings, O Zion; lift up thy voice with strength; O bearer of good tidings, O Jerusalem; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God.

40.10 Behold, YHVH GOD will come with strength, and his seed shall inherit it. behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

40.11 He will feed his flock, he will feed his seed, he will gather the lambs, and in his bosom he will carry the burnt offering, he will lead it.

40.12 Who has measured the waters and the heavens with the span, and all the dust of the earth with a third? Or weighed the mountains in a balance, and the hills in a balance?

40.13 Who has measured the Spirit of YHVH? And who has taken his counsel will tell us?

40.14 Whom shall we advise, and instruct him, and teach him in the way of judgment, and teach him knowledge, and make known to us the way of understanding?

40.15 The nations are counted as a bucket, and as a balance, and the islands are counted as a handful.

40.16 Lebanon is not enough to burn, and its pasture is not enough to burn.

40.17 All the nations are as nothing before him, and are accounted as nothing and as nothing to him.

40.18 And to whom will you liken him, and what image will you make for him?

40.19 The idol is cast in iron, and covered with gold, and the silver is set in silver.

40.20 The poor man will choose a tree that will not rot; a wise man will ask him to make a statue that will not be moved.

40.21 Do you not know? Do you not hear? Do you not declare to you beforehand? Do you not understand the statutes of the land?

40.22 He dwells on the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who spread themselves out like the canopy of heaven, and who pitch themselves like a tent to sit on.

40.23 He who gives numbers to the judges of the earth, he has made them like this.

40.24 They shall not plant, nor sow, nor take root in the earth; and the wind shall blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the storm shall carry them away like stubble.

40.25 And to whom will you liken me, and whom will you say, Holy?

40.26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out the army by number, all of them called by name, mighty in power, mighty in might; not one of them is missing.

40.27 Why do you say, Jacob, and Israel speak, My way is hidden from YHVH, and my judgment is passed by my God?

40.28 Did you not know, if you did not listen to the eternal God, YHVH, the Creator of the ends of the earth, he will not grow weary or weary, and there is no searching out of his understanding?

40.29 He gives power to the weary, and the powerless increase.

40.30 And the youths shall flee and be weary, and the young men shall stumble and stumble.

40.31 And the children of YHVH shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not be faint.

41.1 Let the islands be silent before me, and let the nations be moved with power; let them come near, then let them speak together for judgment, for it is near.

41.2 Who shall call the city from the east, righteousness shall be called to his foot? shall bring nations and kings before him. he shall bring down his sword as dust, his bow as chaff.

41.3 He who pursues them will pass by in peace, but a stranger will not come with his feet.

41.4 Who has wrought and done, calling forth praises from the beginning? I am YHVH, the first, and with the last I am he.

41.5 The islands shall see, and fear. the ends of the earth shall be afraid, they shall fear his face, and his face shall be darkened.

41.6 They will help each other, and each one will say to his brother, “Be strong!”

41.7 And the plowman strengtheneth the joint, and the smoothing of the hammer, he that striketh it once, he saith unto the glue, It is good, and he fasteneth it with nails, it shall not move.

41.8 But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham, whom I love.

41.9 Who have taken thee from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chiefest thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and have not cast thee off.

41.10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

41.11 They shall wither and wither; all that slander thee shall be as nothing, and thy adversaries shall perish.

41.12 You will seek them, but you will not find them; your men of war will be as nothing and as nothing.

41.13 For I am YHVH your God, who holds your right hand, who says to you, "Do not fear; I will help you."

41.14 Fear not, O worm Jacob, O Israel. I will help thee, saith YHVH, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

41.15 Behold, I will make thee a new threshing instrument, having two edges. thou shalt thresh the mountains and the hills like a threshing floor, and shalt make the hills like a threshing floor.

41.16 You will flow, and the wind will carry them away, and the storm will scatter them. But you will rejoice in YHVH, in the Holy One of Israel, and you will glory in him.

41.17 The poor and needy seek water, but their tongue is thirsty, and there is no drink. I, YHVH, will answer them, the God of Israel, I will not forsake them.

41.18 I will open rivers in the mouths, and springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

41.19 I will set in the wilderness the cedar, the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the wilderness the cypress, the pine, and the box together.

41.20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together. that the hand of YHVH hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

41.21 Bring your strife near, saith YHVH; bring your bones near, saith the King of Jacob.

41.22 Let them bring and tell us the things that were revealed at first. What, then, did they tell us? And breathed into our hearts, and we knew their latter end, or made us hear what was to come?

41.23 Tell the signs behind, and we will know that you are gods, and you will also do good, and we will be amazed, and we will be seen together.

41.24 You are from nowhere, and your deeds are abominable. He will choose you.

41.25 He that calleth upon me from the north, and from the rising of the sun shall call upon my name. and the princes shall come like clay, and like a potter treading clay.

41.26 Who has declared from the beginning, and has known from before, and has said, "He is righteous, and no one declares, nor does anyone make known, nor does anyone hear your words?"

41.27 The firstborn of Zion, behold, they bring good tidings to Jerusalem.

41.28 And I saw that there was no man, and there was no counselor among them. and I asked them, and they answered me not.

41.29 Behold, they are all iniquity, their works are wind, and their counsels are vain.

42.1 Behold, my servant, I will uphold him; my chosen one, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the nations.

42.2 He will not cry out, nor lift up his voice, nor make his voice heard outside.

42.3 A bruised reed he will not break, and a black flax he will not break. He will bring forth justice in truth.

42.4 He will not be afraid or slow to anger until he has established justice in the land, and the islands have established his law.

42.5 Thus saith YHVH GOD, that created the heavens and their host, that spread abroad the earth and its seed, that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to walk therein.

42.6 I, YHVH, have called you in righteousness, and will hold you by the hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nations.

42.7 To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out the prisoner from the prison, and from the prison of darkness.

42.8 I am YHVH, that is my name. and my glory will I not give to another, neither will I praise graven images.

42.9 The first things have come, and new things I declare; before they spring up I will make you hear them.

42.10 Sing to YHVH a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and fill the isles with their inhabitants.

42.11 They shall carry away the wilderness, and the cities thereof shall be inhabited. the inhabitants of Kedar shall rejoice. the inhabitants of the rock shall rejoice from the top of the mountains.

42.12 They shall give glory to YHVH, and his praise shall they declare in the isles.

42.13 YHVH will go forth like a mighty man, he will go forth like a man of war; he will stir up jealousy; he will shout even to his enemies; he will prevail.

42.14 I felt that I would never again be able to restrain myself like a serpent in labor, and I would breathe together.

42.15 I will destroy mountains and hills, and will destroy all their vegetation; I will turn rivers into islands, and I will destroy lakes.

42.16 And I will lead them blind by a way that they know not, in paths that they know not. I will turn darkness into light before them, and they that are hardened into a plain. these things have ye done, and have not forsaken.

42.17 Turn back, they that trust in the graven image, that say, Our gods are a mask.

42.18 The deaf heard, and the blind looked and saw.

42.19 Who is my servant, and who is my servant, and who is my messenger? I will send him who is my servant, and who is my servant, and who is my servant.

42.20 You have seen many things, but you do not observe; you have opened your ears, but you do not hear.

42.21 YHVH delights in his righteousness; he will magnify the law and make it glorious.

42.22 And he is a people of plunder, and of plunderers, all of them in the dungeons, and in the prisons they have hid themselves for plunder, and none saveth, none saith, Return.

42.23 Whoever among you will listen to this will listen and listen back.

42.24 Who gave Jacob to the horse, and Israel to the plunderers? Is it not YHVH? We have sinned against him, and have not walked in his ways, nor listened to his law.

42.25 And his wrath shall be poured out upon him, and the battle shall be kindled. and it shall burn him round about, and he shall not know; and it shall burn within him, and he shall not lay it to heart.

43.1 And now thus saith YHVH, he that created thee, Jacob, and formed thee, Israel. Fear not. for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name unto me.

43.2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle on you.

43.3 For I am YHVH thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour. I have given Egypt thy fathers, Ethiopia, and Seba in thy stead.

43.4 For you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I have loved you, and I will give men in your place, and nations in your place.

43.5 Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west.

43.6 Say to the north, Give up, and to Yemen, do not be enslaved; bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth.

43.7 Everyone who is called by my name, and for my glory I created him, I formed him, I made him.

43.8 He brought forth a people with skin and eyes, and deaf and deaf with ears.

43.9 All the nations are gathered together, and the peoples are assembled. who among them will declare this, and will be the first to hear it? let them bring forth their witnesses, and be justified, and let them hear, and speak the truth?

43.10 You are my witnesses, declares YHVH, and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me there was no god formed, and after me there shall be none.

43.11 I, even I, am YHVH, and besides me there is no savior.

43.12 I have declared, and warned, and made it known; and there is no stranger among you, and ye are my witnesses, saith YHVH, and I am God.

43.13 Even from the day I am he, and there is none to deliver from my hand. I will work, and who shall restore it?

43.14 Thus saith YHVH, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. For your sakes I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all the captives, and the Chaldeans have carried you away in ships.

43.15 I am YHVH, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

43.16 Thus saith YHVH, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters.

43.17 He who brings forth chariot and horse, both mighty and strong, shall lie down together, they shall not rise; they shall be consumed, they shall be extinguished.

43.18 Remember not the beginning, nor the beginning of time; understand not.

43.19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring up, shall you not know it? I will also make in the wilderness a way, in the wilderness a river.

43.20 The wild beasts of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the daughters of the wild oxen. for I have given waters in the wilderness, rivers of water in the wilderness, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

43.21 With this people I have created for myself, they will tell of my praise.

43.22 And you have not called me Jacob, but Israel has touched me.

43.23 You have not brought me your burnt offerings and sacrifices; you have not honored me; you have not served me with offerings, nor have you brought me incense.

43.24 You have not bought me anything with money, nor have you satisfied me with the milk of your sacrifices; but you have made me serve you with your sins, you have made me weary with your iniquities.

43.25 I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my sake, and I will not remember your sins.

43.26 Remember me, we were judged together; count it, that you may be justified.

43.27 Your first father sinned, and your counselors transgressed against me.

43.28 And I will profane the holy places, and will give Jacob to destruction, and Israel to blasphemies.

44.1 But now Jacob my servant heareth, and Israel my chosen.

44.2 Thus saith YHVH, He that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, He shall help thee. fear not my servant Jacob, and Sharon, I have chosen him.

44.3 For I will pour water on the thirsty, and streams on the dry ground. I will pour out my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.

44.4 And they grew among the grass, like ravens by the watercourses.

44.5 One will say to YHVH, “I am he,” and another will call himself by the name of Jacob, and another will write his hand for YHVH, and will subscribe to the name of Israel.

44.6 Thus saith YHVH, the King of Israel, and his redeemer, YHVH of hosts. I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

44.7 And who is like me, that can call and declare, and prepare for me my works, and the people of the world, and the nations, and that which shall come shall tell them?

44.8 Do not be afraid, nor look at him. For I have told you from the beginning, and you are my witnesses. There is no God besides me, and there is no rock that I do not know.

44.9 The makers of idols are all amazed, and their idols are of no use. their witnesses see not, nor know, that they may wither.

44.10 Who has made a god, or a carved image, that it is useless?

44.11 Behold, all his companions are withered and deaf; they shall gather themselves together from a man; they shall all stand, they shall be afraid, they shall wither together.

44.12 He wrought iron with a sledgehammer, and wrought it in coals and in the furnaces. he formed it, and wrought it with his strong arm. he was hungry, and had no strength; he drank no water, and was weary.

44.13 A carpenter bends a line, they will mark it with a chisel, they will make it with chisels and compasses, they will mark it and make it according to the pattern of a man, according to the beauty of a man to dwell in a house.

44.14 He cut down cedars for himself, and took cypress and oak, and strengthened himself with the trees of the forest, and planted fir trees, and the rain would increase.

44.15 And it came to pass, that a man took thereof, and heated it, and poured it out, and baked bread, and made it into a god, and worshipped it, and made it an idol, and worshipped it.

44.16 Half of it he burned with fire, and half of it he ate flesh, he roasted it, and was filled with heat. And his brother said, My mother-in-law, I have seen light.

44.17 And the remnant of him that made a god, he shall worship him, and worship him, and pray unto him, and say, Save me; for thou art mine.

44.18 They will not know nor understand, for their eyes are too blind for their understanding.

44.19 And he shall not return to his heart, nor have knowledge nor understanding, saying, I have burned half of it with fire, and I have baked bread upon the coals thereof. I have eaten flesh with it, and I have made the rest of it an abomination, a log of wood, to worship it.

44.20 Evil is the ashes of a heart that is set on a heap of ashes, and he cannot deliver his soul, nor can he say, Is not a lie in my right hand?

44.21 Remember these things, Jacob and Israel. for thou art my servant, I have made thee. thou art my servant, Israel. thou shalt not forsake me.

44.22 I have blotted out your transgressions as a thick cloud, and your sins as a cloud. return unto me, for I have redeemed you.

44.23 Sing, O heavens, for YHVH has done it; let the foundations of the earth be joyful; let the mountains break forth; let the forest and every tree in it sing for joy; for YHVH has redeemed Jacob, and in Israel he will glory.

44.24 Thus saith YHVH, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb. I am YHVH, that made all the corners of the heavens by myself, and the foundations of the earth by myself. who is with me?

44.25 He who breaks omens and enchantments will be disgraced; he will turn back the wise and make their minds foolish.

44.26 He establishes the word of his servant, and the counsel of his angels he performs, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited, and the cities of Judah shall be built, and I will raise up the ruins thereof.

44.27 Say to the city, My sword will destroy your rivers,

44.28 Saying to Cyrus, My friend, and all My goods shall be paid; and saying, Jerusalem shall be built, and the temple shall be founded.

45.1 Thus saith YHVH to his anointed, to Cyrus, whom I have raised up in his days, to subdue nations before him, and to raise up kings. I will open before him doors, and the gates shall not be shut.

45.2 I will go before you and bring joy to generations. I will break the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

45.3 And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and secret places of secret places, that you may know that I am YHVH, who calls you by name, the God of Israel.

45.4 For the sake of Jacob my servant, and Israel my chosen, I will call you by your name, and you will be my servant, though you have not known me.

45.5 I am YHVH, and there is none else besides me. there is no God that will bind you, and you have not known me.

45.6 That they may know from the rising of the sun and from the west that I am YHVH, and there is none else.

45.7 He forms light and creates darkness, He makes peace and creates evil. I, YHVH, do all these things.

45.8 The heavens above shall drop rain, and the skies shall pour down righteousness. the earth shall open, and salvation and righteousness shall spring up together. I YHVH have created it.

45.9 Woe to him who has multiplied his labor, who has made the potters of the earth, who has said, "Clay, what will you do to him who has made it?" And your work has no hands.

45.10 Woe to the father, what will you beget? and to the wife, what will you conceive?

45.11 Thus saith YHVH, the Holy One of Israel; and the makers of the signs ask me concerning my son, and concerning the work of my hands, and I will judge thee.

45.12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it. I have stretched out the heavens with my hands, and all their host have I commanded.

45.13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and all his ways I have approved. he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captivity, not for price nor reward, saith YHVH of hosts.

45.14 Thus saith YHVH; Egypt shall come, and the merchants of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, and the men of Media. they shall pass over thee, and thou shalt be after thee; they shall go in the wilderness, they shall pass over thee, and thou shalt bow down to thee, they shall pray unto thee. but thou art a god, and there is no other god.

45.15 Truly, you are a God who hides himself, the God of Israel, the Savior.

45.16 They were ashamed and also confounded, all of them together; they walked in confusion, like plowmen with axes.

45.17 Israel is saved in YHVH, with an everlasting salvation. You shall not be ashamed nor confounded forever and ever.

45.18 For thus saith YHVH, that created the heavens; he is God; the former of the earth, and made it; he established it; he created it, and was not in vain. I created it, and will not be hereafter. I am YHVH, and there is none else.

45.19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark land; I have not said to the seed of Jacob, “You are astonished at my counsel.” I am YHVH, who speaks righteousness, declaring the upright.

45.20 They gathered together, they came, they clashed together, the fugitives of the nations knew not, who carried the wood of their graven image, and prayed to a god that cannot save.

45.21 They have declared and brought it forth, they have taken counsel together. who hath declared it from of old, since the declaration? Am not I YHVH, and there is no God besides me? a righteous God, and there is no savior beside me?

45.22 Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else.

45.23 By myself I have sworn, that a word shall go forth from my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return. but to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

45.24 But in YHVH I said, "Righteousness and the strength of his witnesses will come, and all who despise him will be cut off."

45.25 In YHVH shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

46.1 Nebo bowed down, and Nebo was broken. Their hearts were like a beast, and their burdens were like a burden to the beast.

46.2 They have fallen, they have fallen together; they could not deliver themselves; their soul is in captivity, and they have gone astray.

46.3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that are laden with my belly, that are carried by my womb.

46.4 Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will bear it; I have made it, and I will bear it, and I will endure it, and I will deliver it.

46.5 To whom will you liken me and compare me? and compare me, and be likened?

46.6 They shall weigh out gold out of the bag, and silver out of the reed. they shall hire a goldsmith, and make it into a god, that they may worship and bow down.

46.7 They shall bear him upon the shoulder, they shall bear him, and set him under him, and he shall stand up from his place, he shall not be moved. neither shall he cry unto him, nor shall he answer him. in his trouble shall they not save him.

46.8 Remember this and be strong, and turn back the wicked to their hearts.

46.9 Remember the former things of old, that I am God, and there is no God, neither is there any like me.

46.10 He declares the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.

46.11 An eagle calls from the east, from a far country, a man of his own counsel. I have spoken, I have brought it about; I have formed, I will do it.

46.12 Hearken unto me, ye stout of heart, that are far from righteousness.

46.13 My nearness, my righteousness, is not far off, and my salvation is not tarrying. and I will give salvation in Zion to Israel, my glory.

47.1 Come down and sit on the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit in the land, there is no throne, daughter of the Chaldeans, for you shall no longer be called delicate and delightful.

47.2 Take millstones and grind flour, unroll your braid, uncover the fringe of your hair, unroll the market, cross the rivers.

47.3 Your nakedness will be uncovered, you will see your shame; I will take vengeance, and I will not harm anyone.

47.4 YHVH of hosts is our redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, his name is

47.5 Sit thou still, and come into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans. for thou shalt no more be called the lady of kingdoms.

47.6 I was angry with my people, I profaned my inheritance, and they were in your hand. You did not show them any mercy because of their old age, and you were very hard on them.

47.7 And you said, "I will be a lady forever," until you laid these things to your heart, and did not remember their end.

47.8 And now hear this, O gentle one, that dwelleth securely, saying in her heart, I am a widow no more, neither shall I know bereavement.

47.9 And these two things shall come upon thee in a moment in one day. the widow and the widower shall come upon thee in multitude, as thy mouth shall say, in the strength of thy very friends.

47.10 And thou hast trusted in thine evil, saying, I see not. thy wisdom and thy understanding are deceitful. and thou hast said in thine heart, I am nothing.

47.11 And evil shall come upon thee, thou shalt not know the cause thereof. and YHVH shall curse thee, thou shalt not be able to atone. and a calamity shall come upon thee suddenly, thou shalt not know it.

47.12 Stand up now among your friends, and multiply your words, as you have done from your youth. perhaps you will be able to profit, perhaps you will be able to persuade.

47.13 You are weary with the multitude of your counsels; let them stand up and save you. The Creator of the starry heavens, who announces to the new moons what will come upon you.

47.14 Behold, they are as stubble that the fire has burned; they shall not deliver themselves from the flame; there is no coal to warm them, nor light to sit before it.

47.15 Thus have you been, when you have come to your senses, in your trade from your youth; no one has gone astray in his ways, and there is no one to save you.

48.1 Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and out of the waters of Judah have come those who swear by the name of YHVH, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth or in righteousness.

48.2 For they are called out of the holy city, and trust in the God of Israel, YHVH of hosts, whose name is he.

48.3 The first things have come from my mouth, and I have heard them; suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.

48.4 I know that you are hard, and your neck is like an iron sinew, and your forehead is bronze.

48.5 And I have told you from before you came, lest you should say, I have made a covenant with you, and

48.6 You have heard the report of a bride, and you say, "Have you heard news from now on and news, and you did not know it?"

48.7 Now are they created, and not since, and from a day ago, and ye have not heard, lest thou shouldest say, Lo, I know them.

48.8 You have neither heard nor known, neither have you opened your ear since then, for I know that you will deal treacherously, and that your belly will be filled with wickedness.

48.9 For my name's sake I will prolong my anger, and my praise I will seal it for you, that I may not cut you off.

48.10 Behold, I have bought you with no money, and have chosen you as the firstborn of the poor.

48.11 For my own sake, for my own sake, I will do it, for how shall it be? And I will not give my glory to another.

48.12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel, O my God. I am he, I am the first, I am also the last.

48.13 My hand also laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens. I called unto them, that they might stand together.

48.14 Assemble yourselves, all of you, and hear, who among them has declared these things? YHVH will do his pleasure in Babylon, and in the seed of the Chaldeans.

48.15 I, even I, have spoken, I have called, I have brought it, and it prospered in its way.

48.16 Come near to me, hear this; I have not spoken in secret from the time it was there; and now YHVH GOD has sent me, and his spirit.

48.17 Thus saith YHVH thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. I am YHVH thy God, which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee in the way which thou shalt go.

48.18 If only you had listened to my commandments, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

48.19 And the seed of thy seed, and the offspring of thy bowels, shall be as with him. his name shall not be cut off, nor shall his name be destroyed from before me.

48.20 Go out of Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of rejoicing declare this, make it heard, utter it to the ends of the earth, say, YHVH has redeemed his servant Jacob.

48.21 And they thirsted not for the swords. he brought them water out of the rock that gushed out for them, and the rock was split, and water gushed out.

48.22 There is no peace, says YHVH, to the wicked.

49.1 Hear, O ye nations, my threats, and give ear unto the heathen from afar. YHVH hath called me from the womb, from my mother's bowels he hath made mention of my name.

49.2 And he made my mouth like a sharp sword in the shadow of his hand, which he hid from me. and he set me in a clear place, in his secret place, which he hid from me.

49.3 And he said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will glory.

49.4 But I said, I have laboured in vain, I have exhausted my strength in vain. I have surely judged YHVH, and wrought for my God.

49.5 And now YHVH hath said, I will gather Jacob to himself, and Israel shall not gather. and I will be glorified in the sight of YHVH, and my God shall be my strength.

49.6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel. and I will give thee for a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

49.7 Thus saith YHVH, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him that despiseth the soul, to him that despiseth the nation, to him that serveth proverbs. kings shall see, and princes shall arise, and worship, because of YHVH, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, and hath chosen thee.

49.8 Thus saith YHVH; In a time of favor have I answered thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee. and I will gather thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the land, to cause the desolate to inherit their inheritance.

49.9 To say to the prisoners, Go forth, O ye captives, In the darkness they shall feed in the ways, And in every mouth of their flocks.

49.10 They shall not hunger, nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them. for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, and by the springs of water shall he guide them.

49.11 And I will make all the mountains a way, and I will make the mountains of Hermon a level place.

49.12 Behold, these shall come from afar, and behold, these from the north and from the sea, and these from the land of Sin.

49.13 The heavens shall rejoice, and the depths of the earth shall be rent. the mountains shall rejoice. for YHVH will rejoice over his people, and will have mercy on his humble.

49.14 And Zion said, YHVH hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

49.15 Can a woman forget the son of her womb? Even these will forget, but I will not forget you.

49.16 Your statutes are on my hands, your walls are always against me.

49.17 Your sons will come out of you quickly, from your destruction and from your swords.

49.18 Lift up your eyes round about, and see, they all gather together, they come to you. as I live, saith YHVH, they are all my witnesses. thou shalt be clothed, and bound together as a bride.

49.19 For I have made thee desolate, and have made thee desolate, and the land that hath laid thee waste. for now shalt thou be desolate, and they shall be far from thy mouth.

49.20 They will say in your ears, "My son, your wisdom is too narrow for me. Come near and I will sit down."

49.21 And thou saidst in thine heart, Who hath begotten these for me? and I am desolate and desolate, a captive and a stranger. and who hath brought them up? and I am left alone. where are these?

49.22 Thus saith YHVH GOD; Behold, I will lift up mine hand upon the nations, and upon the peoples of the Aryans. and they shall bring thy sons upon their loins, and thy daughters shalt thou carry upon the shoulder.

49.23 And kings shall be thy nurses, and their maids thy sucklings, the dust of the earth shall bow down unto thee, and they shall lick the dust of thy feet. and thou shalt know that I am YHVH, whose lines shall not be dried up.

49.24 He will take a strong man from a slave, and if he is a righteous man, he will escape.

49.25 For thus saith YHVH; Even my servant shall take the mighty, and the oppressor shall be delivered from the hand of the oppressor. and I will contend with thine adversary, and I will save thy children.

49.26 And I will feed thy people with their flesh, and they shall be drunken with their blood. and all flesh shall know that I YHVH am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

50.1 Thus saith YHVH, Is this the book of your mother's circumcision, which I have sent her? or which of the creditors have I sold you unto? For your iniquities were ye sold, and for your transgressions hath your mother sent you away.

50.2 Why have I come, and there is no one to answer? I have cut off my hands, and I have no power to deliver. At my rebuke I will destroy the sea, and I will make rivers a desert. Their fish will stink because there is no water, and they will die of thirst.

50.3 I clothe the heavens with pitch, and I put sackcloth as their covering.

50.4 YHVH GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to answer the wise. he wakeneth morning by morning he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

50.5 YHVH GOD has opened my ear, and I have not turned back, nor turned back.

50.6 I gave the nation to the smiters, and my life to the robbers. I hid not my face from calamities, but

50.7 But YHVH GOD will help me; therefore I shall not be ashamed. therefore I have set my face like a cherub, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

50.8 My righteous one is near, who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is my advocate? Let him approach me.

50.9 Behold, YHVH GOD will help me; who is he that will inherit me? behold, they all shall wax old like a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

50.10 Who among you fears YHVH? He hears the voice of his servant, who walks in darkness, and has no helper. He trusts in the name of YHVH, and relies on his God.

50.11 Behold, all of you are fiery furnaces, from the places of your burning. walk in the light of your fire, and in the torches of your burning, it was for you a fitting place to lie down.

51.1 Hearken unto me, ye that pursue righteousness, ye that seek YHVH. look unto the hewn stone, and unto the pit, and to the pit, and to the pit, and to the hewn stone.

51.2 Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah your mother, for I called him alone, and blessed him, and kept him.

51.3 For YHVH will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of YHVH; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of singing.

51.4 Listen to me, my people, and my people, listen to me. For a law will go forth from me, and I will make my judgments a light for the peoples.

51.5 My righteous one will come near, my son, and the seed of the peoples will judge me. In me the islands will hope, and in my seed they will long.

51.6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth beneath. for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and the inhabitants thereof shall die in like manner. but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be destroyed.

51.7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, and my law in their hearts. fear not the reproach of man, nor their reproach against him.

51.8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the moth shall eat them up like wool. but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.

51.9 Awake, awake, put on the arm of YHVH, awake, as in the days of old, of the ages of ages. Is it not she that digs up Rahab, that brings forth the serpent?

51.10 Is it not she who divides the sea, the waters of the great deep, who makes a way out of the depths of the sea for the redeemed?

51.11 And the redeemed of YHVH shall return, and come to Zion with joy, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. they shall obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

51.12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you. who art thou that thou shouldest fear man that shall die, and the son of man that shall be given straw?

51.13 And you will forget YHVH your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth, and you will fear continually all day long because of the wrath of the oppressor, as he has prepared to destroy. And where is the wrath of the oppressor?

51.14 He hastened to open the door, and he shall not die of corruption, nor shall his bread be lacking.

51.15 And I, YHVH thy God, divide the sea, and the waves thereof roar. YHVH of hosts is his name.

51.16 And I will put my words in thy mouth, and will cover thee in the shadow of my hand, to plant the heavens, and to lay the foundations of the earth, and to say, Thou art my people, Zion.

51.17 Awake, awake, arise, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of YHVH the cup of his wrath. thou hast filled the cup of gall, thou hast drunken the cup of gall.

51.18 She has no one to guide her among all the sons she has borne, nor any to hold her hand among all the sons she has brought up.

51.19 Two, behold, I have called you. who will make you wander? The devil, and the famine, and the sword, who will comfort you?

51.20 Your children have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, like a slain priest, filled with the wrath of YHVH, the rebuke of your God.

51.21 Therefore hear this, I pray thee, poor and drunk, and not of wine.

51.22 Thus saith thy Lord YHVH, and thy God that contendeth with him. Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling; I have filled the cup of my fury; thou shalt drink it no more.

51.23 And I will put it in the hand of thy oppressors, which have said unto thy soul, Live, and pass over, and thou shalt be as the land of Gog, and as the land of the Hebrews.

52.1 Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on the garments of your beauty, O Jerusalem, the holy city. for there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.

52.2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise, O captive Jerusalem; let your neck be freed, O captive daughter of Zion.

52.3 For thus saith YHVH; Ye are sold for nought; ye shall not be redeemed with money.

52.4 For thus saith YHVH GOD; Egypt shall go down with my people to sojourn there at the first, and Assyria shall oppress them with nought.

52.5 And now what have I here? saith YHVH. for he hath taken his people for nought. they shall cry unto him, saith YHVH. and my name is blasphemed continually all the day long.

52.6 Therefore my people shall know my name in that day. for I am he that speaketh, behold, I am he.

52.7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings of peace, that publisheth good tidings of salvation! Say unto Zion, Thy God is king!

52.8 The voice of thy watchmen shall lift up the voice, they shall sing together. for they shall see eye to eye, when YHVH shall return to Zion.

52.9 The swords of Jerusalem shall break forth, they shall cry together. for YHVH hath comforted his people, the Redeemer of Jerusalem.

52.10 YHVH has bared his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

52.11 Turn away, turn away, go out of thence, unclean, touch not, go out from the midst of her, O ye who bear the vessels of YHVH.

52.12 For you shall not go out in haste, nor shall you go in haste. for YHVH will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your gatherer.

52.13 Behold, my servant shall be exalted, and lifted up, and very high.

52.14 When many have made a desolation upon thee, so hast thou made a man to be desolate, and to be a shadow of men.

52.15 So shall many nations know him; kings shall be astonished at him. for that which was not told them they have seen, and that which they had not heard they have considered.

53.1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of YHVH been revealed?

53.2 And he came up before him as a beast, and as a root out of the green earth. he had no form, nor majesty, nor comeliness, nor comeliness, nor comeliness.

53.3 He is despised and despised, every man from pains, and his sickness is known, and as one who hides his face, he is despised, and we do not consider him.

53.4 Surely he hath borne our infirmities, and carried our sorrows. yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

53.5 And he cleanseth us from our transgressions, he crusheth us from our iniquities. he bringeth forth our peace upon him, and in his company we are healed.

53.6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and YHVH hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

53.7 He drew near, and he answered, and he opened not his mouth. as Jubilee to the slaughter, and Caleb before the shearing-horse is dumb, and he opened not his mouth.

53.8 He took away captivity and judgment, and who shall speak of his generation? for he was cut off from the land of the living. For the transgression of my people is upon him.

53.9 And he will give the wicked their grave, and the rich their life, because he has done no violence, nor is there any deceit in his mouth.

53.10 And YHVH delighteth in the afflicted. if thou puttest him in error, he shall see a seed that shall prolong his days. and YHVH delighteth in his hand, he shall prosper.

53.11 He shall fear the labor of his soul, he shall be satisfied with his own understanding. the righteous shall justify my servant before many, and he shall bear their iniquity.

53.12 Therefore I will divide him with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the mighty, in a place where he was mindful of the death of his soul, and his transgressions were numbered, and he bore many sins, and for his transgressions he shall be wounded.

54.1 The barren woman did not give birth, the maidens did not give birth, and the maidens did not have children. For the children of the wilderness are more numerous than the children of the burnt offering, says YHVH.

54.2 Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your dwellings stretch out. Do not be shy. Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.

54.3 For you will break forth on the right hand and on the left, and your seed will inherit the nations, and they will inhabit the cities of the living.

54.4 Fear not, for you shall not be ashamed; neither be confounded, for you shall not be confounded. for you shall forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you shall remember no more.

54.5 For your master is YHVH of hosts, his name is he; and your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, the God of the whole earth, he shall be called.

54.6 For YHVH hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and as a wife of youth, because thou art abhorred, saith thy God.

54.7 For a small moment I forsook you, but with great mercies I will gather you.

54.8 In a moment of wrath I hid my face from you, but in an everlasting kindness your lovingkindness is, says YHVH your Redeemer.

54.9 For who shall keep this from me, that I have sworn? Who shall keep it from me upon the earth? I have sworn in wrath against thee, and in rebuke thee.

54.10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be made low. but my lovingkindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith YHVH of thy mercies.

54.11 Poverty, a storm, not comforted, behold, I will smite thy stones with the edge of the stone, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

54.12 And I will make thee as a wall, and thy gates as flint, and all thy borders as precious stones.

54.13 And all thy children shall be taught of YHVH. and great shall be the peace of thy children.

54.14 Prepare yourself in righteousness; be far from oppression, for you will not fear it; and from destruction, for it will not come near you.

54.15 They will live in a place where there is no one left. Whoever lives with you will fall on you.

54.16 Behold, I have created the potter, the smith in the fire of coals, and he bringeth forth a tool for his work. and I have created the destroyer to be a slayer.

54.17 No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment shall condemn you. This is the heritage of the servants of YHVH, and their righteousness is of me, saith YHVH.

55.1 Woe to every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; and he that hath no money, come ye, break bread, and eat; and come ye, break wine and milk without money, and without price.

55.2 Why do you weigh out money for nothing, and why do you spend it for nothing? Hearken unto me, and eat ye good, and delight yourselves in the fatness of your soul.

55.3 Incline your ear, and come unto me. hear, and your soul shall live. and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the steadfast love of David.

55.4 Behold, I have given him as a leader to the nations, and a commandment to the peoples.

55.5 Behold, you will call upon a nation you do not know, and a nation that did not know you will run to you for the sake of YHVH your God and for the Holy One of Israel, for your glory.

55.6 Seek YHVH while he may be found; call upon him while he is near.

55.7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. and let him return unto YHVH, and he will have mercy upon him; and unto our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

55.8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith YHVH.

55.9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

55.10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither, but water the earth, that it may bring forth and bud, and give seed for the sower, and bread for the eater.

55.11 So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth. it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

55.12 For you will go out with joy and peace. The mountains and hills will break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

55.13 Instead of the brier the cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up. And it will be to YHVH for a name, for an everlasting sign that will not be cut down.

56.1 Thus saith YHVH, Keep judgment, and do righteousness. for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.

56.2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it. that keepeth the Sabbath from profaning it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

56.3 And let not the stranger that hath joined himself unto YHVH say, YHVH hath separated me from his people. neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

56.4 For thus saith YHVH unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose that which pleaseth me, and hold fast my covenant.

56.5 And I will give them in my house and within my walls a name and a good name, both of sons and of daughters; I will give him an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.

56.6 And the sons of the stranger, that join themselves unto YHVH, to serve him, and to love the name of YHVH, shall be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from profaning it, and taketh hold of my covenant.

56.7 And I will bring them to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer. their sacrifices and their offerings shall be accepted on my altar. for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

56.8 Thus saith YHVH GOD; I will gather again the outcasts of Israel unto him that is gathered unto them.

56.9 All the beasts of the field are full of them, and all the beasts of the forest are full of them.

56.10 Watch, all of them are blind, all of them do not know, all of them are dumb dogs, they cannot bark, the lynxes lie down, my love, to sleep.

56.11 And the dogs, the fierce ones, have not known satiety; and these wicked ones have not known understanding; they all turn to their own way; each one to do his own thing.

56.12 I will take wine with him, and be drunk with strong drink. and it shall be so on the morrow, that it shall be exceeding great.

57.1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart. and the merciful are gathered together, and they understand not. for from evil the righteous is gathered together.

57.2 Peace will come, they will rest on their beds, he will go before them.

57.3 And you, come near, behold, the children of Anan, a seed of adultery and whoredom.

57.4 In whom will you delight? In whom will you enlarge your mouth? Are you not children of iniquity, a seed of lies?

57.5 Those who comfort themselves in the gods under every green tree, those who slaughter their children in the streams under the branches of the rocks.

57.6 In my portion is your portion, they are your lot; you have poured out your drink offering, you have offered a burnt offering; these I will comfort.

57.7 On a high mountain, and a high place, where you lay your body, even there you went up to sacrifice a sacrifice.

57.8 And behind the door and the mezuzah, put your remembrance, for I have come from Gath, and you have gone up, and you have enlarged your bed, and you have cut off from them the love of their bed, the hand of the forerunner.

57.9 And you shall anoint the king with oil, and multiply your feasts, and send the needy far away, and humble yourself even to the grave.

57.10 You have come in many ways, you have not said, "Despair!" Your hand has found life, therefore you are not sick.

57.11 And whom have you feared and feared, that you may be deceived? and you have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart. Am I not hidden and hidden? and you have not feared me?

57.12 I will declare your righteousness and your works, but it will not profit you.

57.13 At your cry, your congregation will save you, and the wind will carry them all away. The wind will carry them away. But those who trust in me will inherit the land and inherit my holy mountain.

57.14 And he said, Turn aside, turn aside, remove the stumbling block from the way of my people.

57.15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that dwelleth, and holy is His name, even on high, and holy is His dwelling place, and to him that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

57.16 For I will not contend forever, neither will I be angry forever. for the spirit from before me shall compass me about, and I have made the souls.

57.17 For the iniquity of his doings I chastised him, and smote him secretly, and chastised him, and he walked in the way of his own heart.

57.18 I have seen his ways, and I have healed him, and comforted him, and I have comforted him and his mourners.

57.19 The Creator opens the lips of the people, saying, "Peace to those far off and those near." Says YHVH, "And I will heal them."

57.20 But the wicked shall be cast out into the sea, because there is no peace; and they shall be cast out of their waters, mire and clay.

57.21 There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked.

58.1 Cry out with your throat, do not be silent; lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins.

58.2 And they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that hath done righteousness, and forsook not the judgment of their God. they ask of me the judgments of righteousness, they desire the nearness of God.

58.3 Why have we fasted, and you do not see? We have afflicted our souls, and you do not know? In the day of your fasting you will find a desire, and all your nerves will be troubled.

58.4 For strife and unleavened bread you shall fast, and to strike with the fist of wickedness you shall not fast today, to make your voice heard on high.

58.5 Such shall be the fast that I have chosen, a day of affliction for a man, when he shall bow his head with sackcloth and ashes. this shall be called a fast, and a day acceptable to YHVH.

58.6 Is this not the fast that I have chosen? To open the gates of wickedness, to let loose twisted tales, and to send the broken free, and to cut off every twisted thing.

58.7 Is it not a reward for the hungry for your bread, and for the poor and needy that you bring home? For you see their nakedness and cover them, and do not ignore your food.

58.8 Then shall thy length break forth as the morning, and thy stature shall spring forth speedily. and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of YHVH shall gather thee.

58.9 Then shalt thou call, and YHVH shall answer, and shall say, Behold, I am he. if thou wilt take away the crookedness from within thee, put forth thy finger, and speak wickedly.

58.10 And you will satisfy your hungry soul, and your hungry soul will be satisfied. And your light will shine in the darkness, and your darkness will be like noonday.

58.11 And YHVH shall bless thee continually, and satisfy thy soul with the sweetness of thy soul, and thy strength shall be saved. and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

58.12 And they built from you the swords of the world, the foundations of generation and generation, and you were called a wall, a barrier, from the side of the road to the Sabbath.

58.13 If you turn away your feet from doing your pleasures on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a holy day, you will honor YHVH and honor him by doing your ways, by finding your pleasures and by speaking your words.

58.14 Then you will delight yourself in YHVH, and I will make you ride on the pastures of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of YHVH has spoken.

59.1 Surely the hand of YHVH is not shortened from saving, neither is his ear heavy from hearing.

59.2 For if your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you,

59.3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue utters deceit.

59.4 He who calls not righteously, nor is judged by faith, is secure in a vain and empty word; he conceives trouble and gives birth to iniquity.

59.5 The eggs of vipers have hatched, and the spider has woven its web. The one who eats their eggs will die, and the one who hatches them will hatch a viper.

59.6 Their webs will not be for clothing, nor will they be covered with their deeds; their deeds are acts of violence and the work of violence is in their hands.

59.7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood. their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, and destruction is in their hearts.

59.8 The way of peace they have not known, and there is no judgment in their midst; their paths are hard for them, every way in which they have not known peace.

59.9 Therefore judgment is far from him, and righteousness cannot overtake us. we hope for light, but behold darkness, for we walk in darkness.

59.10 We grope like a wall, and as if there were no eyes, we grope like our fellows at noonday, like a breath in the fire, like the dead.

59.11 We all growl like bears, and moan like doves; we hope for judgment, and there is no salvation far from him.

59.12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our iniquities bear record of us. for our transgressions are with us, and our iniquities we know.

59.13 We have transgressed and denied YHVH, and have turned back from following our God, speaking oppression and deceit, and have conceived lies from the heart.

59.14 And judgment shall be turned back, and righteousness shall stand afar off. for truth shall fail in the street, and it shall not be able to come near.

59.15 And truth shall be absent, and wickedness shall be gone forth, and YHVH shall fear, and it shall be evil in his sight, that there is no judgment.

59.16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was none to hurt him. and his seed shall be saved, and his righteousness shall be his strength.

59.17 And he shall put on righteousness as a helmet, and a helmet of salvation upon his head. and he shall put on garments of vengeance, and shall cover himself with jealousy as with a mantle.

59.18 As a camel, so a camel will repay wrath to his enemies, and recompense to his enemies, and recompense to his threats.

59.19 And they shall fear the name of YHVH from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. for he shall come like a rushing river, the spirit of YHVH passing through it.

59.20 And a Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to the captivity of transgression in Jacob, saith YHVH.

59.21 And as for me, this is my covenant with them, saith YHVH. my spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith YHVH, from henceforth and for evermore.

60.1 Arise, my light, for your light has come, and the glory of YHVH has risen upon you.

60.2 For, behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people. but YHVH shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

60.3 And the nations shall walk to the length thereof, and the kings to the rising of the sun.

60.4 Lift up your eyes around you and see, all of them are gathered together. Your sons will come to you from afar, and your daughters will be on the other side of the sea.

60.5 Then you will see and be afraid, and your heart will be enlarged, for the multitude of the sea will come against you, the strength of the nations will come against you.

60.6 The multitude of camels shall cover the fields of Midian, and all they that come shall bring gold and frankincense. they shall shew forth the praise of YHVH.

60.7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee; the rams of the prophets shall serve thee. they shall offer willingly upon mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

60.8 Who are these, like the birds of the air, and like the doves to their nests?

60.9 For in me shall the isles hope, and the ships of Tarshish at the head, to bring thy sons from afar, their silver and their gold with them, to the name of YHVH thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, for thy glory.

60.10 And the sons of the sons of the strangers shall be thy enemies, and their kings shall serve thee. for in wrath I have smitten thee, and in the desire of thy mercy I have smitten thee.

60.11 And your gates shall be open continually day and night; they shall not be shut, to bring to you the army of the nations, and their kings shall be brought.

60.12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish, and the nations shall be destroyed by the sword.

60.13 The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary, and I will glorify the place of my feet.

60.14 And the children of thy afflictions shall come unto thee, and all thy enemies shall bow down at thy feet, and they shall call thee the city of YHVH, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

60.15 Instead of you being forsaken and hated, and no one passing by, I will make you an everlasting glory, from generation to generation.

60.16 And thou shalt suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings. and thou shalt know that I YHVH am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the mighty one of Jacob.

60.17 Instead of the bronze I will bring gold, and instead of the iron I will bring silver, and instead of the wood, brass, and instead of the stones, iron. and I will appoint peace for you, and I will appoint righteousness for you.

60.18 No more shall the sound of a tumult be heard in your land, nor destruction within your borders; but the cry of salvation shall be upon your walls, and upon your gates praise.

60.19 The sun shall no more be thy light by day, neither shall the moon shine for thee for light. but YHVH shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

60.20 The moon shall no more withdraw itself, neither shall thy moon withdraw itself. for YHVH shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

60.21 And all your people are righteous forever; they shall inherit the land, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, to glory in it.

60.22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a mighty nation. I YHVH will make him great in his time.

61.1 The Spirit of YHVH GOD is upon me; because YHVH hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

61.2 To proclaim the year of YHVH's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.

61.3 To give unto the mourners of Zion beauty for ashes, oil of joy for mourning, a covering of praise for the dark wind, and to call them the rams of righteousness, the planting of YHVH, to glory.

61.4 And they shall build the desolate cities of the world, and the firstborn shall arise, and shall renew the desolate cities of the world, generation after generation.

61.5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners shall be your farmers and your vinedressers.

61.6 And you, the priests of YHVH, shall be called the ministers of our God. he shall say unto you, Ye shall eat the strength of the nations, and in their glory shall ye glory.

61.7 Instead of your shame, their portion shall be a second, and their portion shall be a third. therefore in their land shall they inherit; everlasting joy shall be unto them.

61.8 For I, YHVH, love justice, and hate robbery for burnt offerings. and I will give them their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

61.9 Their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples. all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed of the blessing of YHVH.

61.10 I will trust in YHVH; my soul shall rejoice in my God. for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, the robe of righteousness. he shall cover me, as a bridegroom doth adorn himself, and as a bride adorneth herself with her fullness.

61.11 For as the earth causes her grass to sprout, and a garden causes its branches to sprout, so YHVH GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.

62.1 For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until righteousness go forth as a sun, and her salvation as a burning lamp.

62.2 And the nations shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory. and thou shalt be called a new name, which the mouth of YHVH shall name.

62.3 And you shall be a crown of glory in the hand of YHVH, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

62.4 You will no longer be called Forsaken, nor will your land be called Desolate. For you will be called My delight in you, and your land will be blessed. For YHVH delights in you, and your land will be blessed.

62.5 For if a young man marries a virgin, your sons will marry you; and if a bridegroom marries a bride, your God will marry you.

62.6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, day and night continually, that they that remember YHVH may not be ashamed of my blood.

62.7 And give him no more blood, until he establish, and until he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

62.8 YHVH has sworn in our days, by the arm of his might, that I will give your grain as food for your enemies, and that foreigners will drink your wine which you have drunk.

62.9 For those who gather it shall eat it, and praise YHVH. and those who gather it shall dwell in the courts of my sanctuary.

62.10 Pass through, pass through the gates, turn to the way of the people, pass through, pass through the way, stone by stone, lift up a sign among the nations.

62.11 Behold, YHVH hath made a noise unto the end of the earth, saying unto the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy servant cometh. behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

62.12 And they shall call them the holy people, the redeemed of YHVH. and thou shalt be called a city not forsaken.

63.1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, in raiment from Basra? This is the one that is comely in his apparel, he hath gone forth in the multitude of his strength. I speak in righteousness, and am mighty to save.

63.2 Why should a man clothe you with his garments, as in the way of Gath?

63.3 I have walked alone, and among the people there is no man with me. and I have trodden them in my nose, and trampled them in my anger. and I have trodden them upon my garments, and have stripped them of all my garments.

63.4 For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redemption is come.

63.5 And I looked, and there was none to help. and I was astonished, and there was none to trust. and my seed saved me, and my flesh supported me.

63.6 And I will devour the nations in my anger, and make them drunk in my wrath, and I will bring them down to the earth.

63.7 The mercies of YHVH I will mention the praise of YHVH, according to all that YHVH hath bestowed upon us, and the great goodness which he hath bestowed upon the house of Israel, according to his mercy, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

63.8 And he said, Surely these are my people, children that will not lie, and he will be their savior.

63.9 In all their affliction he did not afflict them, but the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and compassion he redeemed them, and he took them, and he carried them all the days of the world.

63.10 But they rebelled, and grieved his Holy Spirit. and he was turned to be their enemy, and fought against them.

63.11 And Moses remembered the days of old, when the waters were turned away from the shepherds of his flock, when YHVH was within him, when his holy spirit was with him.

63.12 He leads Moses by the right hand with his glorious arm, causing water to flow from before them, to make an everlasting name for him.

63.13 They will be before you in the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, they will not stumble.

63.14 Like a beast in the valley, the Spirit of YHVH will come down, and give us rest. So you have dealt with your people, to make a glorious name for yourself.

63.15 Look down from heaven and see, your holiness and your glory. Where is your zeal and your strength? The multitude of your bowels and your mercies have restrained themselves from me.

63.16 For you are our father, though Abraham did not know us, and Israel did not acknowledge us. You are YHVH our father, our redeemer, your name has redeemed us from the beginning.

63.17 Why do you turn away from your ways, O LORD? Why do you harden our hearts from your fear? For the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance,

63.18 For your holy people have inherited misfortune; our enemies have destroyed your sanctuary.

63.19 If you had never ruled over them, your name would not have been invoked over them. If you had not torn the heavens and come down at your presence, the mountains would have flowed away.

64.1 As a fire that quenches water, so shall the fire be, to declare thy name to the needy. the nations shall be angry because of thee.

64.2 You have done terrible things that we cannot hope for. The mountains have melted at your presence.

64.3 And they have not heard, nor perceived, nor eye seen, a God besides thee, that he should wait for him.

64.4 You have struck the six, and done justice in your ways, they will remember you. You are the one who has been beaten, and we will sin against them forever and be saved.

64.5 And we shall all be as unclean, and all our righteousnesses as filthy rags. and we shall all be as a leaf, and our affliction as the wind that carryeth us away.

64.6 And none that calleth upon thy name shall rise up to take hold of thee. for thou hast hid thy face from him, and he is consumed by the hand of his iniquity.

64.7 And now, O Lord our Father, we are the clay, and you are our potter, and we are all the work of your hand.

64.8 Do not be angry with YHVH forever, nor remember iniquity forever. Look, we are all with you.

64.9 Your holy cities have become a wilderness, Zion a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

64.10 Our sanctuary and our glory, which our fathers praised, is burned with fire, and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

64.11 For these things wilt thou refrain, O LORD? wilt thou be grieved, and afflict us exceedingly?

65.1 I sought for them, and they were found without my asking. I said, Lo, here I am, lo, there is a nation that hath not called upon my name.

65.2 I have spread out my hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own thoughts.

65.3 The people who provoke me to anger always offer shameful sacrifices and burn incense on idols.

65.4 Those who live in tombs and in dungeons will be filled with food, eating pork and breaking their utensils.

65.5 Those who say, "Come near to me," do not come near me, for I have sanctified you. These are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all day long.

65.6 Behold, it is written before me, I will not repent, until I have paid, and I have paid upon his shoulder.

65.7 Your time and the time of your fathers together, says YHVH, you who burn incense on the mountains and on the hills, you have defied me, and I have measured you by your deeds, your firstborn on your shoulders.

65.8 Thus saith YHVH. As the new wine is found in the cluster, and I say, Destroy it not; for there is a blessing in it. so will I do for my servant's sake, that I destroy not all.

65.9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of the mountains. and my chosen shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

65.10 And Sharon shall be a fold of sheep, and the valley of Achor a place for cattle to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.

65.11 But you who forsake YHVH, who forget my holy mountain, who set up a feast for the gods, and fill your mouth with wine from the winepress.

65.12 And I will destine you for the sword, and all of you shall fall to the slaughter. because I called, and ye answered not; I spoke, and ye heard not; but ye did evil in mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

65.13 Therefore thus saith YHVH GOD; Behold, my servants shall eat, and ye shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, and ye shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, and ye shall be ashamed.

65.14 Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall sing for brokenness of spirit.

65.15 And you will take your name for an oath to my chosen ones, and YHVH GOD will kill you, and his servants will be called by another name.

65.16 For he that blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth. and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth. for the former troubles are forgotten, and are hid from my eyes.

65.17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. and the former things shall not be remembered, neither shall they come up into mind.

65.18 But if they shall be ashamed, and shall know my testimony, even that I am the creator. for, behold, I will create Jerusalem a mystery, and her people a mystery.

65.19 And I will dwell in Jerusalem, and I will dwell among my people. and the voice of weeping and the voice of crying shall no more be heard in her.

65.20 There shall be no more there from thence an old man that shall not fill his days. for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall curse.

65.21 And they built houses and dwelt there, and planted vineyards and ate cattle.

65.22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat. for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and the work of their hands shall consume my chosen.

65.23 They shall not toil in vain, nor bring forth for trouble. for they are the seed of the blessed of YHVH, and their seed shall be with them.

65.24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; while they yet speak, I will hear.

65.25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. and the serpent shall eat dust for his meat. they shall not feed nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith YHVH.

66.1 Thus saith YHVH, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. what is this house that ye build unto me? and what is the place of my rest?

66.2 And all these things have my hand made, and all these things have come to pass, saith YHVH. and to this will I look, even to him that is poor and contrite in spirit, and trembleth at my words.

66.3 The ox is slaughtered, the man is sacrificed, the lamb is beheaded, the dog is offered, the blood of a pig is remembered, the son is blessed. These also have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations.

66.4 I also will choose their wickedness, and I will bring upon them their own destruction. because I called, and they answered not. I spake, and they hearkened, and did evil in my sight, and chose that in which I delighted not.

66.5 Hear the word of YHVH, you who fear his word, and say, Your brothers who hate you have rejected you, that my name may be glorified in YHVH, and that it may be seen in your joy, and they may wither away.

66.6 A voice of uproar from the city, a voice from the temple, the voice of YHVH repaying his enemies.

66.7 Before she conceives, before she travails and gives birth to a male child,

66.8 Who has heard such things? Who has seen such things? He who brings forth a land in one day, as a nation brings forth at once. For Zion also brings forth her children.

66.9 Shall I bring forth, and bring not forth? saith YHVH; if I bring forth, and bring not forth? saith thy God.

66.10 Rejoice with Jerusalem, and let all her lovers rejoice in her. for she is with you, and all who mourn for her shall rejoice.

66.11 That ye may suck and be satisfied with the breast of her comforts, that ye may be satisfied and be delighted with the sweetness of her glory.

66.12 For thus saith YHVH, Behold, I will extend unto her a river of peace, and a stream that causeth the glory of the nations to flow. and ye shall suck them upon the side, and shall be carried upon the knees, and shall rejoice.

66.13 As a man whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you, and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

66.14 And you shall see, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like grass. and the hand of YHVH shall be known toward his servants, and his wrath toward his enemies.

66.15 For, behold, YHVH will come with fire, and with his chariots silver, to render his wrath in fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

66.16 For by fire YHVH shall be judged, and all flesh shall be consumed by the sword. and the slain of YHVH shall be multiplied.

66.17 Those who are sanctified and purified will enter the sanctuary one by one, among those who eat swine's flesh, the abomination, and the mouse together, says YHVH.

66.18 And I, their works and their thoughts, am come to gather all nations and tongues, and they shall come and see my glory.

66.19 And I set a sign among them, and sent them to the nations, to Tarshish, and to Lydda, and to the bowers of the earth, and to Greece, to the isles afar off, which have not heard my voice, nor seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the nations.

66.20 And bring all your brethren out of all the nations an offering unto YHVH, on horses, and in chariots, and in mules, and in chariots, unto my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith YHVH, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of YHVH.

66.21 And of them will I also take for priests and Levites, saith YHVH.

66.22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith YHVH, so shall your seed and your name remain.

66.23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith YHVH.

66.24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me. for their worm shall not die, neither shall their sin be quenched. and they shall be a terror to all flesh.
