Haggai

1.1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of YHVH by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

1.2 Thus saith YHVH of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the house of YHVH should be built.

1.3 And the word of YHVH came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

1.4 It is time for you to sit in your houses, shut up, while this house lies in ruins.

1.5 And now thus saith YHVH of hosts, Set your heart upon your ways:

1.6 You have sown much, but you have eaten little. But those who are full do not drink, and those who are hired do not have clothing, and they do not have bread. And the drunkard is drunkard to a heap of empty wine.

1.7 Thus saith YHVH of hosts, Set your heart upon your ways:

1.8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house, and I will dwell in it, and I will be glorified, saith YHVH.

1.9 Turn to the many, and behold, there are few; and ye shall bring the house, and I will blow upon it: for thus saith YHVH of hosts; because my house is a waste, and ye shall run every man to his house.

1:10 Therefore the heavens shall withhold the dew from you, and the earth shall withhold her increase.

1:11 And I will call for a sword upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon man, and upon beast, and upon all that men can reach.

1:12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of YHVH their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as YHVH their God had sent them; and the people feared before YHVH.

1:13 Then Haggai, the angel of YHVH, spoke to the people in the service of YHVH, saying, “I am with you,” says YHVH.

1:14 And YHVH stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did the work in the house of YHVH of hosts their God.

1:15 On the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

2.1 On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of YHVH came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

2.2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

2.3 Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? and what do you see now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes?

2.4 Now therefore be strong, saith YHVH, Zerubbabel; and be strong, Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all the people of the land, saith YHVH; and do it: for I am with you, saith YHVH of hosts.

2.5 The word which I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my spirit abideth among you: fear not.

2.6 For thus saith YHVH of hosts; Yet a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land:

2.7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory, saith YHVH of hosts.

2.8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith YHVH of hosts.

2.9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former, saith YHVH of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith YHVH of hosts.

2:10 In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of YHVH came to Haggai the prophet, saying,

2:11 Thus saith YHVH of hosts; Ask now the priests of the law, saying,

2:12 For if a man bear holy flesh in the fold of his garment, and touch with his fold any bread, or any stew, or any wine, or any oil, or any holy food, then the priests shall answer and say, No.

2:13 And Haggai said, If an unclean soul touch any of these, he shall be unclean. And the priests answered and said, He shall be unclean.

2:14 Then Haggai answered and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith YHVH: so is every work of their hands, and that which they offer there is unclean.

2:15 Now therefore, please set your hearts from this day forward, before one stone is left upon another in the temple of YHVH.

2:16 From the time he came to the heap of twenty, there were ten; he came to the vineyard to uncover fifty shekels, and there were twenty.

2:17 I will strike you with blight, mildew, and hail, in all the work of your hands; and you are not with me, says YHVH.

2:18 Set your hearts, I pray you, from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day unto the ninth day, from the day that the foundation of the house of YHVH was laid, set your hearts,

2:19 From the seed in the barn to the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate tree, and the olive tree, from this day forth I will not bless.

2:20 And the word of YHVH came a second time unto Haggai on the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

2:21 Then said he unto Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, I will shake the heavens and the earth:

2:22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and will destroy the strong of the kingdoms of the nations, and will overthrow the chariot and its charioteers; and the horses and their chariots shall go down, every one by the sword of his brother.

2:23 In that day, saith YHVH of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, my servant, saith YHVH, and will set thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith YHVH of hosts.
