7.9 For on the first day of the first month he began the journey from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his Alhym upon him.

7.10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of YHVH, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

8.22 For I have asked of the king a force and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way. for we have spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our Alhym is upon all them that seek him for good, and his strength and his wrath upon all that forsake him.

8.23 And we fasted and besought our Alhym for this, and he was intreated of us.

8.24 And Abednego, of the chief of the priests, gave twelve to Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and with them ten of their brethren.

8.25 And I will weigh out to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, the offering of the house of our Alhym, which the king, and his counsellors, and his princes, and all Israel that were present, have offered.

8.26 And I weighed out to them six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and gold an hundred talents.

8.27 And twenty baskets of gold for a thousand baskets, and vessels of brass of fine gold, two thousand precious in gold.

8.28 And she said unto them, Ye are holy unto YHVH, and the vessels are holy. the silver and the gold are a dedicated thing unto YHVH Alhym of your fathers.

8.29 Be diligent and watchful until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and Levites and the chiefs of the fathers of Israel at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of YHVH.

8.30 And the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our Alhym.

8.31 And we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. and the hand of our Alhym was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and from the ambush by the way.

8.32 And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

8.33 On the fourth day the silver, the gold, and the vessels were weighed in the house of our Alhym by Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest, and with him Eleazar the son of Phinehas, and with them Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Benai, the Levites.

8.34 By number and weight for each, and all the weight was written at that time.

8.35 And the children of the captivity, which were come out of the captivity, offered a burnt offering unto the Alhym of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, and twelve he goats for a sin offering. all this was a burnt offering unto YHVH.

8.36 And they gave the king's tribute to the king's officers, and to the men of the province beyond the river, and they carried away the people and the house of Alhym.

9.1 And after these things the princes came unto me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, according to their abominations, even the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Maavi, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

9.2 For they carried away their daughters unto themselves and to their sons, and the holy seed mingled with the people of the lands. and the hand of the princes and the governors was first in this matter.

9.3 And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonished.

9.4 And to me shall be gathered all that fear the words of the Alhym of Israel, even of the exiles. and I shall sit desolate until the evening sacrifice.

9.5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose, fasting, and with my garment and my mantle rent, and fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto YHVH my Alhym.

9.6 And she said, My Alhym, I am ashamed, and I am ashamed to lift up my face to you, my Alhym. for our iniquities are increased more than our head, and our guilt is grown up to the heavens.

9.7 From the days of our fathers we have been in great guilt even unto this day. and in our times we have given our kings and our priests into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to reproach, and to shame, as it is this day.

9.8 And now it is almost time for YHVH our Alhym to leave us an escape, and to give us a stake in his holy place, to enlighten our eyes, and to give us a little life in our bondage.

9.9 For we are servants, and in our servitude we have not forsaken our Alhym, and he has extended to us kindness before the kings of Persia, to give us a living, to build the house of our Alhym, and to set up his walls, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

9.10 And now, our Alhym, what shall we say after this, seeing we have forsaken thy commandments?

9.11 Which thou commandedst by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land whither ye go to possess it is a desolate land, a desolate land, the desolation of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which are filled from mouth to mouth with their filthiness.

9.12 Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, neither seek their peace and their good for ever. that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it an inheritance unto your children for ever.

9.13 After all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, you, our Alhym, have darkened our dwelling place and given us such an escape.

9.14 If we turn back to break your commandments and intermarry with these abominations, will you not destroy us until we are completely destroyed, leaving no survivors or escapees?

9.15 O YHVH Alhym of Israel, thou art righteous. for we are left a remnant, as we are this day. we are before thee in our trespasses. for we cannot stand before thee for this.

10.1 Now when Ezra had prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of Alhym, there gathered to him out of Israel a very great assembly of men, women, and children. for the people wept sore.

10.2 Then Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, of the children of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have transgressed against our Alhym, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land. and now there is hope for Israel because of this.

10.3 And now let us make a covenant with our Alhym to put away all wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of our Lord, and according to the commandments of our Alhym, and according to the law, so shall they do.

10.4 Arise, for the matter is upon you, and we are with you. Be strong and do it.

10.5 Then Ezra arose and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel swear that they would do according to this word. And they swore.

10.6 Then Ezra rose up from before the house of Alhym, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib. and he went there, and ate no bread, nor drank water, for he mourned for the captivity.

10.7 And they made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together to Jerusalem.

10.8 And whoever does not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his property shall be confiscated, and he shall be separated from the congregation of the exile.

10.9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within three days, which was the ninth month, the twentieth day of the month. and all the people sat in the street of the house of Alhym, trembling because of the matter, and because of the rain.

10.10 Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, "You have transgressed and brought in foreign wives to add to the guilt of Israel."

10.11 Now therefore give thanks to YHVH Alhym of your fathers, and do his will, and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

10.12 And all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, Even as thou hast said, so must we do.

10.13 But the people are many, and it is a time of rain, and there is no strength to stand without, and the work is not for one day, nor for two years. for we have multiplied our transgressions in this matter.

10.14 Let our princes stand before all the congregation, and let all that are in our cities, that have taken back strange wives, come at intervals, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our Alhym be turned from him unto this thing.

10.15 But Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah stood up against this, and Shammah and the Levites helped them.

10.16 And the children of the captivity did so, and Ezra the priest separated men, heads of fathers' houses, and all of them by name, and sat down on one day in the tenth month, to the commandment of Darius.

10.17 And they finished all the men who had taken foreign wives until the first day of the first month.

10.18 And he found among the sons of the priests who had brought back foreign wives, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Reuben, and Gedaliah.

10.19 And they gave their hand to put away their wives, and they offered a ram of the flock for their guilt.
