Deuteronomy

1.1 These are the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan, in the wilderness, in the plain over against Suph, between Paran, and Taphal, and Laban, and Hazor, and Dizahab.

1.2 Eleven days from Shaveh by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea

1.3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel according to all that YHVH had commanded him concerning them.

1.4 After they had defeated Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth at Edrei,

1.5 Beyond the Jordan in the land of Moab, where Moses explained this law, saying,

1.6 YHVH our God spoke to us by the sword, saying, "You have many Sabbaths in this mountain."

1.7 Turn and journey for yourselves, and come to the mountain of the Amorites, and to all the neighbors thereof, in the plain, in the mountains, and in the lowland, and in the south, and by the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

1.8 See, I have set the land before you. Go in and possess the land which YHVH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their descendants after them.

1.9 And I said to you at that time, I cannot be alone with you.

1.10 YHVH your God has multiplied you, and you are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

1.11 May YHVH, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you, as he has promised you.

1.12 How can I alone bear your burden and your burden and your strife?

1.13 Bring you wise, learned, and understanding men from your tribes, and I will make them your leaders.

1.14 And they answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good that thou shouldest do.

1.15 And I will take the heads of your tribes, wise and understanding men, and will make them heads over you, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, rulers of tens, and officers for your tribes.

1.16 And I commanded your judges at that time, saying, Hearken between your brethren, and judge righteously, between every man his brother, and the stranger.

1.17 You shall not respect persons in judgment, whether small or great; you shall hear them both. You shall not refuse to accept any person, for the judgment is God's. And the matter that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.

1.18 And I will command you at that time all the things which you shall do.

1.19 And we departed from Shaveh, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which ye saw, by the way of the mount of the Amorites, as YHVH our God commanded us, and we prophesied unto Kadeshbarnea.

1.20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mount of the Amorites, which YHVH our God giveth us.

1.21 See, YHVH your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as YHVH, the God of your fathers, has said to you. Do not be afraid or dismayed.

1.22 And ye came near unto me all of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search out for us the land, and bring us word again of the way by which we shall go up, and of the cities into which we shall come.

1.23 And the thing seemed good unto me, and I took twelve men of you, one man for every tribe.

1.24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the brook Eshcol, and spied it out.

1.25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and came down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which YHVH our God giveth us.

1.26 And ye have not set your heart on Elath, but have rebelled against the commandment of YHVH your God.

1.27 And ye shall complain in your tents, and say, Because YHVH hated us, he hath brought us out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

1.28 Where are we, our brothers? They have melted our hearts, saying, "A people greater and taller than them, whose cities are as great and as high as the heavens, and we have also seen the sons of giants there."

1.29 And he said unto you, Be not afraid of them, neither be ye afraid of them.

1.30 YHVH your God, who goes before you, he will fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes.

1.31 And in the wilderness where you saw how YHVH your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.

1.32 And in this thing ye believe not in YHVH your God.

1.33 He went before you on the way to search out a place for you to camp, in fire by night to show you the way by which you should go, and in a cloud by day.

1.34 And YHVH heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

1.35 If any of these men of this evil generation see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers,

1.36 Except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, he shall fear us. and to him will I give the land wherein he hath trodden, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed YHVH.

1.37 YHVH also was angry with me because of you, saying, You also shall not go in there.

1.38 Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there with a strong hand, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

1.39 And your little ones, whom you said would be a prey, and your children, who today do not know good from evil, they shall come there, and to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.

1.40 And you turned and journeyed through the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.

1.41 And they answered and said unto me, We have sinned against YHVH. we will go up and fight, according to all that YHVH our God commanded us. And ye girded on every man his weapons of war, and set ourselves up against the top of the mountain.

1.42 And YHVH said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you. neither be ye smitten before your enemies.

1.43 And I spake unto you, and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the word of YHVH, and went up into the mountain.

1.44 And the Amorites that dwelt in that hill country came out against you, and pursued you, as ye did, and smote you in Seir unto Haramam.

1.45 And you sat down and wept before YHVH, but YHVH did not hear your cry or listen to you.

1.46 And you shall dwell in the sanctuary many days, according to the days that you have dwelt in it.

2.1 And we turned and journeyed into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as YHVH spake unto me, and compassed mount Seir many days.

2.2 And YHVH said unto me,

2.3 Many have turned this mountain into a refuge for you.

2.4 And he commanded the people, saying, Ye are passing through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir. and they shall be afraid of you, and be very careful.

2.5 Do not provoke them, for I will not give you of their land, so much as the sole of your foot; for I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.

2.6 You shall buy food from them for money, and eat; and you shall also buy water from them for money, and drink.

2.7 For YHVH thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. he hath known thy walking through this great wilderness these forty years. YHVH thy God hath not lacked any thing with thee.

2.8 And we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, by the way of the plain, from Elath, and from Azzin, Geber, and Neban, and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

2.9 And YHVH said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither provoke them to battle. for I will not give thee of his land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

2.10 The nations formerly lived there, a great and numerous people, tall as giants.

2.11 The ghosts will also be considered giants, and the old men will call them great.

2.12 And the Harim dwelt in Seir before the children of Esau, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead, as Israel did unto the land of their possession, which YHVH gave them.

2.13 Now arise, and pass over the brook Zered for yourselves, and we will pass over the brook Zered.

2.14 And the time that we went from the sanctuary of Barnea until we passed over the brook Zered was thirty and eight years, until all the generation of the men of war were consumed out of the camp, as YHVH had sworn unto them.

2.15 And the hand of YHVH was upon them to smite them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.

2.16 And it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed from among the people,

2.17 And YHVH spake unto me, saying,

2.18 You have crossed the border of Moab today, Ar.

2.19 And when you come near to the children of Ammon, do not harass them or provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the children of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the children of Lot as a possession.

2.20 It will also be considered a land of ghosts; ghosts lived in it before, and the Ammonites will call them buzzers.

2.21 A people great and numerous, and tall as giants; but YHVH destroyed them before them, and they were numbered, and dwelt in their stead.

2.22 As he did to the children of Esau, the inhabitants of Seir, whom he destroyed before them, and they dwelt in their stead unto this day.

2.23 And the wicked that dwell in the cities, even unto Gaza, are like the buttons that come out of the button of the destroyer, and they dwell in their stead.

2.24 Arise, take your journey, and cross the Arnon River. See, I have given into your hand Sihon king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land. Begin to fight against him and provoke him to war.

2.25 This day I will put the fear of you and the dread of you on the peoples under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you, and be angry and afraid because of you.

2.26 And I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon, with words of peace, saying,

2.27 I will pass through your land by the way, I will go by the way, there is no restriction on the right or the left.

2.28 You shall give me food for money, and I shall eat; and you shall give me water for money, and I shall drink; only I shall pass by on my feet.

2.29 As the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites, which dwell in Beer, did unto me, until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which YHVH our God giveth us.

2.30 And Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through him. for YHVH thy God hardened his spirit, and hardened his heart, that he might deliver him into thine hand, as it is this day.

2.31 And YHVH said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee. begin to possess his land.

2.32 And Sihan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle.

2.33 And YHVH our God delivered him before us, and we went up with him, and with his son, and with all his people.

2.34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, both men and women, and we left none remaining.

2.35 Only the cattle we took for ourselves as plunder, and the spoil of the cities which we captured.

2.36 From Azar, which is on the bank of the Arnon River, and the city that is in the river, even unto Gilead, there was not a city too great for us to recover, which YHVH our God delivered before us.

2.37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not near, all the coasts of the river Jabbok, nor the cities of the mountains, nor whatsoever YHVH our God commanded.

3.1 And we turned and turned again by the way of Bashan. and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

3.2 And YHVH said unto me, Fear him not. for I have delivered him into thine hand, and all his people, and his land. and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

3.3 And YHVH our God delivered into our hand also Og the king of Bashan, and all his people. and we smote him until he left him none remaining.

3.4 And we took all his cities at that time. there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

3.5 All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides the cities of the Persians, very many.

3.6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every city, the women and the little ones.

3.7 And all the cattle and the spoil of the cities shall be our fornication.

3.8 And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon.

3.9 The Sidonians will call Hermon Sherin, and the Amorites will call it Senir.

3.10 All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salecah, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

3.11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the giants. behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron. this is the bedstead of the children of Ammon. nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth thereof. every one was a man.

3.12 And this land we inherited at that time, from Ahar, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, I gave unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.

3.13 And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh, all the region of Argob; all Bashan shall be called the land of Rephaim.

3.14 Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob unto the border of Geshur and Maacah, and called them after his own name Bashan Hoth Jair unto this day.

3.15 And I gave Gilead to the merchant.

3.16 And to the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon, even the midst of the river, and Gebal, even unto the river Jabbok, the border of the children of Ammon.

3.17 And the plain, and the Jordan, and the border from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, the Dead Sea, under the ascent of the peak eastward.

3.18 And I commanded you at that time, saying, YHVH your God hath given you this land to possess it. ye shall pass over before your brethren the children of Israel, all the men of war.

3.19 Only your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, I know that you have much cattle, and they shall dwell in your cities which I have given you.

3.20 Until YHVH give rest unto your brethren, as unto you, and they also possess the land which YHVH your God giveth them beyond Jordan; and ye return every man unto his inheritance, which I have given you.

3.21 And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that YHVH your God hath done unto these two kings. so shall YHVH do unto all the kingdoms whither thou goest over.

3.22 You shall not fear them, for YHVH your God is he who fights for you.

3.23 And I besought YHVH at that time, saying,

3.24 O Lord God, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand. for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

3.25 Let me go over, I pray thee, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that good mountain, and Lebanon.

3.26 And YHVH was angry with me for your sakes, and would not hear me. and YHVH said unto me, Thou hast done too much; speak no more unto me of this matter.

3.27 Go up to the top of the peak and lift up your eyes westward and westward and eastward, and see with your own eyes that you shall not go over this Jordan.

3.28 And charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him. for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

3.29 And we sat down in the valley opposite Beth Peor.

4.1 Now therefore, O Israel, hearken unto the statutes and unto the judgments which I teach you, to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which YHVH God of your fathers giveth you.

4.2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor diminish from it, to keep the commandments of YHVH your God which I command you.

4.3 Your eyes have seen what YHVH did at Baal-peor. for all the men that followed Baal-peor, YHVH your God hath destroyed them from among you.

4.4 And you who cling to YHVH your God are all alive today.

4.5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as YHVH my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.

4.6 And you shall observe and do it, for it is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and shall say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

4.7 For what great nation is there that has a God so near to it as YHVH our God, to whom we call in all things?

4.8 And what great nation is there that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law which I set before you this day?

4.9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; and make them known unto thy children, and to thy children's children.

4.10 On the day you stood before YHVH your God with the sword, when YHVH said to me, “Gather the people to me, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.”

4.11 And they came near, and stood under the mountain. and the mountain burned with fire unto the heart of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.

4.12 And YHVH spake unto you out of the midst of the fire. a voice of words ye heard, but no form ye saw; but a voice.

4.13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to do, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

4.14 And YHVH commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

4.15 And you took great heed to yourselves, for you saw no form in the day that YHVH spake unto you with the sword out of the midst of the fire.

4.16 Lest you corrupt yourselves and make for yourselves a graven image, the likeness of any figure, the form of male or female.

4.17 The likeness of every beast that is on the earth, the likeness of every winged bird that flies in the air,

4.18 The form of every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, the form of every fish that is in the waters under the earth.

4.19 And lest you lift up your eyes to heaven, and see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be driven to worship them, and serve them, which YHVH your God hath divided unto all people under the whole heaven.

4.20 And YHVH took you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be a people unto him for an inheritance, as it is this day.

4.21 And YHVH was wroth with me because of your words, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto the good land which YHVH thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

4.22 For I must die in this land; I will not cross the Jordan; but you shall cross over and possess this good land.

4.23 Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of YHVH your God, which he made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image, in the form of anything which YHVH your God has commanded you.

4.24 For YHVH your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

4.25 For you shall beget sons and grandsons, and you shall multiply in the land, and you shall corrupt it, and make a graven image, the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of YHVH your God, to provoke him to anger.

4.26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall utterly perish from off the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it. ye shall not prolong your days upon it; for ye shall utterly destroy it.

4.27 And YHVH shall scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left but a few among the nations whither YHVH shall lead you.

4.28 And there you will serve Gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which they neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

4.29 And from there you will seek YHVH your God, and you will find that you will seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

4.30 When you are in trouble and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to YHVH your God and obey his voice.

4.31 For YHVH thy God is a merciful God; he will not fail thee, nor destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

4.32 For ask now of the days that were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and from one end of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been such a thing as this great thing, or such as is heard of it.

4.33 He heard the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you heard, and he lived.

4.34 Or has God tried to go and take for himself a nation from among the nations, by signs and wonders and war and a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and great terrors, according to all that YHVH your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

4.35 You have shown that YHVH is God; there is none else besides him.

4.36 From heaven he made you hear his voice to go forth, and upon earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.

4.37 And because he loved your fathers, and chose their seed after them, and brought you out of Egypt with his great power before him,

4.38 To drive out nations greater and mightier than you before you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.

4.39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that YHVH he is God in heaven above, and on the earth beneath there is none other.

4.40 And thou shalt keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee for ever.

4.41 Then Moses shall set apart three cities on this side Jordan, eastward,

4.42 A murderer who kills his neighbor unintentionally, and he did not hate him, shall flee to one of the cities of God and live.

4.43 Bezer in the wilderness in the land of the plain to the Reubenites, and Ramoth in Gilead to the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan to the Manassehs.

4.44 And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel.

4.45 These are the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.

4.46 On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Bethpeor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, when they came out of Egypt.

4.47 And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

4.48 From Azar, which is by the bank of the Arnon River, even unto mount Shion, which is Hermon,

4.49 And all the plain beyond the Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain under the ascent of Pisgah.

5.1 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and observe to do them.

5.2 YHVH our God made a covenant with us by the sword

5.3 YHVH did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, we who are here today, all of us alive.

5.4 YHVH spoke to you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire.

5.5 I stood between YHVH and you at that time, to declare to you the word of YHVH. for ye were afraid because of the fire, and went not up into the mount, saying,

5.6 I am YHVH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

5.7 You shall have no other Gods before me.

5.8 You shall not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5.9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, YHVH your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me.

5.10 And sheweth mercy unto thousands of them that love him, and keep his commandments.

5.11 You shall not take the name of YHVH your God in vain, for YHVH will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

5.12 Keep the Sabbath day to keep it holy, as YHVH your God has commanded you.

5.13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work.

5.14 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of YHVH your God. in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.

5.15 And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and YHVH your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm. Therefore YHVH your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

5.16 Honor your father and your mother, as YHVH your God has commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which YHVH your God is giving you.

5.17 Thou shalt not murder

5.18 And you shall not commit adultery .

5.19 And you shall not steal.

5.20 And you shall not answer your neighbor without cause.

5.21 You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor shall you covet your neighbor's house, his field, his manservant, his maidservant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

5.22 These words YHVH spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a great voice. and he added no more. And he wrote them upon two tables of stone, and gave them unto me.

5.23 And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the darkness, and the mountain burned with fire, that ye came near unto me, all the heads of your tribes, and your elders.

5.24 And they said, Behold, YHVH our God hath shewed us his glory, and his greatness, and his light. we have heard it out of the midst of the fire. we have seen this day that God doth speak with man, and he liveth.

5.25 And now why should we die, that this great fire should consume us? If we hear the voice of YHVH our God any more, we shall die.

5.26 For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as Manoah, and lived?

5.27 Go thou near, and hear all that YHVH our God shall say. and thou shalt speak unto us all that YHVH our God shall speak unto thee. and we will hear, and do it.

5.28 And YHVH heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and YHVH said to me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken to you; they have done well in all that they have spoken.

5.29 Oh that there were such an heart in them, to fear me, and to keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

5.30 Go and tell them, “Return to your tents.”

5.31 And you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

5.32 And ye shall be careful to do as YHVH your God hath commanded you. ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

5.33 You shall walk in all the way which YHVH your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may go well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

6.1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes and the judgments, which YHVH your God commanded to teach you to do in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

6.2 That thou mightest fear YHVH thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

6.3 And hearken, O Israel, and observe to do that which is good for thee, and that thou mayest multiply greatly, as YHVH God of thy fathers hath spoken unto thee, a land flowing with milk and honey.

6.4 Hear, O Israel. YHVH our God is one LORD.

6.5 And you shall love YHVH your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.

6.6 And these things which I command thee this day shall be upon thine heart.

6.7 And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

6.8 And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

6.9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

6.10 And it shall come to pass, when YHVH thy God shall bring thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee, great and good cities, which thou builtest not,

6.11 And houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, and hewn stone walls, which you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves, which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied.

6.12 Take heed to yourself, lest you forget YHVH, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

6.13 You shall fear YHVH your God, and him you shall serve, and by his name you shall swear.

6.14 You shall not go after other Gods, of the Gods of the peoples who are around you.

6.15 For YHVH your God shall not be jealous among you, lest the anger of YHVH your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

6.16 You shall not tempt YHVH your God, as you tempted him in Massah.

6.17 You shall keep the commandments of YHVH your God, his statutes, and his judgments which he hath commanded you.

6.18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of YHVH, that it may go well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which YHVH swore to your fathers.

6.19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as YHVH hath spoken.

6.20 For when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which YHVH our God hath commanded you?

6.21 And thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt, and YHVH brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand.

6.22 And YHVH shewed signs and wonders, great and evil, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his house, before our eyes.

6.23 And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to give to our fathers.

6.24 And YHVH commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear YHVH our God, for our good all the days of our life, as it is this day.

6.25 And it shall be righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before YHVH our God, as he hath commanded us.

7.1 For YHVH your God will bring you into the land you are entering to possess and will drive out many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you.

7.2 And YHVH thy God shall deliver them before thee, and thou shalt utterly destroy them. thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor make peace with them.

7.3 And thou shalt not give thy daughter unto their son, neither shalt thou take her daughter unto thy son.

7.4 For he shall turn away thy son from following me, and serve other Gods. and the anger of YHVH shall be kindled against you, and he shall destroy thee quickly.

7.5 For if you do this to them, you shall tear down their altars, break their pillars, cut down their pillars, and burn their images with fire.

7.6 For you are a holy people to YHVH your God. YHVH your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

7.7 YHVH did not set his affection on you or choose you because you were the fewest of all the peoples.

7.8 For because YHVH loved you, and because you kept the oath which he swore to your fathers, YHVH brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

7.9 And you shall know that YHVH your God is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.

7.10 And he will repay those who hate him to his face, to his destruction; he will not delay to repay those who hate him to his face.

7.11 And thou shalt keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

7.12 And it shall come to pass, that if ye hearken unto these judgments, and keep and do them, then YHVH your God shall keep unto you the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto your fathers.

7.13 And I will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; and I will bless the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, thy corn, and thine inheritance; and I will multiply thee, that thy thousands may multiply, and thy flocks multiply, in the land which I sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

7.14 Blessed shalt thou be above all people. there shall not be any barren or barren among thee, nor among thy cattle.

7.15 And YHVH will take away from you all the diseases and all the plagues of Egypt, which you knew, and they will not touch you, but will put them in all your enemies.

7.16 And thou shalt consume all the people which YHVH thy God giveth thee. thine eye shall not pity them, neither shalt thou serve their Gods. for they are a snare unto thee.

7.17 For you shall say in your heart, These nations are more than I; how can I instruct them?

7.18 You shall not be afraid of them; you shall remember what YHVH your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt.

7.19 The greatness which thine eyes have seen, and the signs, and the temptations, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out seed, whereby YHVH thy God brought thee out. so shall YHVH thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

7.20 And YHVH thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that remain, and are hidden from thee, are destroyed.

7.21 You shall not be dismayed by them, for YHVH your God is a great and awesome God among you.

7.22 And YHVH thy God shall drive out the nations before thee little by little. thou shalt not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field multiply upon thee.

7.23 And YHVH thy God shall deliver them before thee, and thou shalt smite them with a great tumult, until thou hast destroyed them.

7.24 And I will deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall destroy their name from under heaven; no one shall be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.

7.25 The graven images of their Gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to YHVH your God.

7.26 And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thine house, but shalt be utterly destroyed. thou shalt abhor it, and shalt utterly abhor it. for it is utterly destroyed.

8.1 Every commandment which I command thee this day shall ye keep to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which YHVH sware unto your fathers.

8.2 And thou shalt remember all the way which YHVH thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not.

8.3 And he afflicted thee, and made thee hungry, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know. that he might make thee know that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every thing that proceedeth out of the mouth of YHVH shall man live.

8.4 Your clothes have not worn out on you, nor has your foot swelled these forty years.

8.5 And you shall know in your heart that as a man chasteneth his son, so YHVH your God chasteneth you.

8.6 And thou shalt keep the commandments of YHVH thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

8.7 For YHVH thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of rivers

8.8 A land of wheat and barley, and vines and figs and pomegranates, a land of oil olives and honey.

8.9 A land where you will eat bread without fear, where you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and whose hills you will dig bronze.

8.10 And you shall eat and be satisfied, and bless YHVH your God for the good land which he has given you.

8.11 Take heed to yourself that you do not forget YHVH your God, so as not to keep his commandments, his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today.

8.12 Lest you eat and be satisfied, and build goodly houses, and dwell therein.

8.13 And thy herds and thy flocks shall multiply, and thy silver and gold shall be multiplied, and all that thou hast shall be multiplied.

8.14 And thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget YHVH thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

8.15 Who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, the serpent, the viper, and the scorpion, and the thirsty land where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock.

8.16 I fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers knew not, to answer you, and to test you, that it might be well with you in your latter end.

8.17 And thou saidst in thine heart, My strength and the strength of my hand hath wrought this for me.

8.18 And you shall remember YHVH your God, for it is he who gives you power to do battle, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

8.19 And it shall come to pass, if thou forget YHVH thy God, and walk after other Gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day, that thou shalt surely perish.

8.20 Like the nations that YHVH destroys before you, so you will perish, because you will not obey the voice of YHVH your God.

9.1 Hear, O Israel, you are to cross the Jordan this day to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than you, cities large and fortified to the heavens.

9.2 A people great and tall, the sons of the giants, whom you know and have heard of, who can stand before the sons of the giants?

9.3 Know therefore this day that YHVH thy God is he that passeth over before thee a consuming fire. he shall destroy them, and he shall subdue them before thee, and thou shalt possess them, and destroy them quickly, as YHVH hath spoken unto thee.

9.4 Say not in thine heart, Because YHVH thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, Because of my righteousness YHVH hath brought me in to possess this land. but because of the wickedness of these nations YHVH hath driven them out from before thee.

9.5 It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations YHVH your God is driving them out before you, and that he may establish the word which YHVH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

9.6 And thou shalt know that it is not for thy righteousness that YHVH thy God giveth thee this good land to possess it. for thou art a stiffnecked people.

9.7 Remember, and forget not how you provoked YHVH your God to anger in the wilderness, from the day that you departed out of the land of Egypt until you came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against YHVH.

9.8 And you provoked YHVH with the sword, and YHVH was angry with you to destroy you.

9.9 And I went up into the mount to take the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which YHVH made with you. and I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights. I did neither eat bread, nor drink water.

9.10 And YHVH gave me two tables of stone, written with the finger of God, according to all the words which YHVH spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

9.11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that YHVH gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

9.12 And YHVH said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence. for thou hast corrupted thy people, which thou broughtest out of Egypt. turn thee quickly out of the way which thou commandedst them. make them a covering.

9.13 And YHVH said unto me, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people.

9.14 Depart from me, and I will destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven. and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

9.15 And I came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire, and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

9.16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against YHVH your God, and had made you a molten calf. ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which YHVH had commanded you.

9.17 And I will take hold of the two lamps, and cast them out of my two hands, and break them before your eyes.

9.18 And I fell down before YHVH, as at the first, forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sins, which ye sinned in doing evil in the sight of YHVH, to provoke him to anger.

9.19 For I was moved with anger and with the fierceness of YHVH's wrath against you, to destroy you. and YHVH heard me at that time also.

9.20 And YHVH was very angry with Aaron to destroy him. and I prayed also for Aaron at that time.

9.21 And I took your sin which you had made, the calf, and burned it with fire, and ground it very small, until it was as fine as dust, and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that came down out of the mountain.

9.22 And by the burning, and by the burning of the altar, and by the burning of the grave, ye provoked YHVH to anger.

9.23 And YHVH sent you from the sanctuary of Barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you. and ye rebelled against the commandment of YHVH your God, and believed him not, nor hearkened unto his voice.

9.24 You have been rebellious against YHVH from the day I spoke to you.

9.25 And I will prostrate myself before YHVH these forty days and forty nights, as I prostrated myself, because YHVH said to destroy you.

9.26 And I prayed unto YHVH, and said, O Lord God, destroy not thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed by thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

9.27 Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look upon the wickedness of this people, nor upon their wickedness, nor upon their sin.

9.28 Lest they should say, The land from which thou broughtest us up was not able to bring them into the land which YHVH promised them, and because he hated them he brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.

9.29 And they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy great power, and by thy strong seed.

10.1 At that time YHVH said to me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the firstborn, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.

10.2 And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke and put in the ark.

10.3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the firstfruits, and went up unto the mount, and the two tables in my hand.

10.4 And he wrote on the tablets, like unto the first writing, the ten commandments, which YHVH spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. and YHVH gave them unto me.

10.5 And I turned and came down from the mount, and put the table in the ark which I had made. and they were there, as YHVH commanded me.

10.6 And the children of Israel journeyed from the well of the children of Jaakan to Misrah, where Aaron died, and was buried there. and Eleazar his son ministered in his stead.

10.7 From there they journeyed to Gibeah, and from Gibeah to Jotbah, a land of rivers of water.

10.8 At that time YHVH separated the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of YHVH, to stand before YHVH to minister to him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

10.9 Therefore Levi has no part or inheritance with his brothers; YHVH is his inheritance, as YHVH your God promised him.

10.10 And I remained in the mount, as at the first, forty days and forty nights. and YHVH hearkened unto me at that time also, saying, YHVH will not destroy thee.

10.11 And YHVH said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

10.12 And now, O Israel, what does YHVH your God require of you, but to fear YHVH your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul?

10.13 Keep the commandments of YHVH and his statutes, which I command you today, for your good.

10.14 Behold, the heavens and the heaven of heavens belong to YHVH your God, the earth with all that is in it.

10.15 But YHVH set his love upon your fathers, and chose their seed after them, even you, above all people, as it is this day.

10.16 And circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

10.17 For YHVH your God is God of Gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awesome, who shows no partiality, nor takes a bribe.

10.18 He shall execute judgment for the fatherless and the widow, and love the stranger, giving him bread and clothing.

10.19 And you shall love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

10.20 You shall fear YHVH your God, you shall serve him, you shall cleave to him, and you shall swear by his name.

10.21 He is your praise and your God, who has done for you all these great and awesome things that your eyes have seen.

10.22 Your fathers went down from Egypt with seventy souls; and now your name, O LORD your God, is as the stars of heaven for multitude.

11.1 And you shall love YHVH your God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.

11.2 And you know this day that it is not your children who have not known, nor who have not seen the discipline of YHVH your God, that you have made great with your strong hand and with your outstretched arm.

11.3 And his signs, and his deeds, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and unto all his land.

11.4 And what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and chariots, whom he brought back the waters of the Red Sea upon them, to pursue them after you, and YHVH destroyed them unto this day.

11.5 And what he did for you in the wilderness, until you came to this place.

11.6 And what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab the son of Reuben, how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their houses, and their tents, and all that was under their feet, among all Israel.

11.7 For your eyes have seen all the great deeds of YHVH which he did.

11.8 And ye shall keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land whither ye go over to possess it.

11.9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land which YHVH sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

11.10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs.

11.11 And the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, drinking water of the rain of heaven.

11.12 The land which YHVH your God has searched for, the eyes of YHVH your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.

11.13 And it shall come to pass, if ye will hearken unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love YHVH your God, and to serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul.

11.14 And I will give the rain of your land in its season, both the spring and the harvest, and you shall gather in your grain, and you shall inherit it, and you shall be fruitful.

11.15 And I will give grass in thy field for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be satisfied.

11.16 Beware lest your heart be deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other Gods, and worship them.

11.17 And the anger of YHVH shall be kindled against you, and he shall shut up the heaven, and there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield her increase; and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which YHVH hath given you.

11.18 And you shall lay up these words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

11.19 And ye shall teach them to your children, to speak of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

11.20 And you shall write on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

11.21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which YHVH sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

11.22 For if you keep and keep all this commandment which I command you to do, to love YHVH your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him,

11.23 And YHVH shall drive out all these nations before you, and ye shall possess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

11.24 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours. from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea, shall be your coast.

11.25 No man shall stand before you. the fear and dread of you shall YHVH your God put upon all the land whither ye shall tread, as he hath spoken unto you.

11.26 See, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse.

11.27 The blessing, if you obey the commandments of YHVH your God, which I command you today.

11.28 And the curse, if ye will not hearken unto the commandments of YHVH your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other Gods, which ye have not known.

11.29 And it shall come to pass, when YHVH thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

11.30 Were they not on the other side Jordan, by the way of the setting sun, in the land of the Canaanites, dwelling in the plain opposite Gilgal, by the oaks of Mera?

11.31 For you are crossing the Jordan to go in to possess the land which YHVH your God is giving you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it.

11.32 And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.

12.1 These are the statutes and judgments which ye shall observe to do in the land which YHVH God of your fathers giveth you to possess it all the days that ye live upon the earth.

12.2 You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall possess have served, whose Gods they have worshipped on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

12.3 And ye shall break down their altars, and break down their images, and burn their groves with fire, and cut down the graven images of their Gods, and destroy their name out of that place.

12.4 You shall not do so to YHVH your God.

12.5 But unto the place which YHVH your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there for his habitation, ye shall seek it, and there ye shall come.

12.6 And ye shall bring thither your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the fat of your oxen and of your sheep.

12.7 And there you shall eat before YHVH your God, and rejoice in all the work of your hands, you and your households, which YHVH your God has blessed you with.

12.8 You shall not do as we do here today, every man doing all that is right in his own eyes.

12.9 For you have not yet come to the rest and to the inheritance which YHVH your God has given you.

12.10 And ye shall cross over Jordan, and dwell in the land which YHVH your God giveth you to inherit, and shall give you rest from all your enemies round about, and ye shall dwell safely.

12.11 And it shall come to pass, that the place which YHVH your God shall choose to put his name there, thither ye shall bring all that I command you, your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all the choice of your vows, which ye vow unto YHVH.

12.12 And you shall rejoice before YHVH your God, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates. for he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

12.13 Take heed to yourself that you do not offer your sacrifices wherever you see them.

12.14 But in the place which YHVH shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thine offering, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

12.15 Only with all your heart's desire you may sacrifice and eat flesh, according to the blessing of YHVH your God which he has given you. In all your gates the unclean and the clean may eat it, as the deer and as the ram.

12.16 Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.

12.17 You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or your inheritance, or your heave offering, or the cutting of your herd or your flock, or any of your vows which you vow, or your freewill offerings, or the heave offering of your hand.

12.18 But you shall eat it before YHVH your God in the place which YHVH your God shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates; and you shall rejoice before YHVH your God in all that you put your hand to.

12.19 Take heed to yourself that you do not forsake the Levite all your days upon your land.

12.20 For YHVH thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath spoken unto thee. and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh. because thy soul lusteth after flesh, thou shalt eat flesh with all thy soul's desire.

12.21 If the place which YHVH your God will choose to put his name there is too far from you, then you shall sacrifice of your herd and of your flock, which YHVH has given you, as I have commanded you, and you shall eat within your gates according to all the desire of your soul.

12.22 But as it eats the deer and the ram, so you shall eat it; the unclean and the clean may eat it together.

12.23 Only be careful not to eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and the life shall not be eaten with the flesh.

12.24 You shall not eat it on the ground; you shall pour it out like water.

12.25 You shall not eat it, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, when you do what is right in the sight of YHVH.

12.26 Only your holy things which you have and your vows you shall take, and you shall come to the place which YHVH shall choose.

12.27 And thou shalt offer thy sacrifices, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of YHVH thy God. and the blood of thy sacrifices shalt thou pour out upon the altar of YHVH thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

12.28 Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of YHVH your God.

12.29 For YHVH thy God will cut off the nations, whither thou goest to possess them, from before thee; and thou shalt possess them, and dwell in their land.

12.30 Take heed to yourself that you do not pursue them after they have been destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire of their Gods, saying, "How will these nations serve their Gods, and I will do the same?"

12.31 You shall not do so to YHVH your God, for every abomination to YHVH which he hates they have done to their Gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their Gods.

13.1 All the word which I command you shall ye observe to do; ye shall not add thereto, nor diminish therefrom.

13.2 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

13.3 And the sign and the wonder shall come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other Gods, which ye have not known, and let us serve them.

13.4 You shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams, for YHVH your God is testing you to know whether you love YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

13.5 You shall walk after YHVH your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and serve him, and cleave unto him.

13.6 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken a blasphemy against YHVH your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which YHVH thy God commanded thee to walk in, and to purge the evil from among thee.

13.7 If your brother, your mother's son, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your neighbor who is as your own soul secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and serve other Gods, which you have not known, you or your fathers."

13.8 Of the Gods of the peoples that are round about you, near you, or far from you, from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth.

13.9 You shall not desire him, nor hearken unto him, neither shall your eye spare him, nor have pity, nor shall you cover him.

13.10 For if you kill him, your hand will be first against him to put him to death, and the hand of all the people afterward.

13.11 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die. because he sought to thrust thee away from YHVH thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

13.12 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any more such evil thing among you.

13.13 For thou shalt hear in one of thy cities, which YHVH thy God giveth thee to dwell, saying,

13.14 Some worthless men have gone out from among you, and have driven out the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other Gods, which you have not known.

13.15 And you inquired, and inquired, and asked diligently, and, behold, it is true, and it is true, that this abomination is done in your midst.

13.16 You shall strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword; you shall utterly destroy it, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.

13.17 And thou shalt gather all the spoil thereof into the midst of the open field, and burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof, utterly unto YHVH thy God. and it shall be a heap for ever, never to be built again.

13.18 And there shall not cleave unto thine hand any of the accursed thing. that YHVH may turn from the fierceness of his wrath, and have mercy upon thee, and have compassion on thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers.

13.19 If you obey the voice of YHVH your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you today, to do that which is right in the sight of YHVH your God,

14.1 You are the children of YHVH your God. You shall not make atonement, nor put a bald spot between your eyes for the dead.

14.2 For you are a holy people to YHVH your God, and YHVH has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

14.3 You shall not eat any abomination.

14.4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat. the ox, the ram, and the goat.

14.5 The ram, and the gazelle, and the wild ass, and the eland, and the wild ox, and the wild goat

14.6 And every beast that divides the hoof, and is cloven-hoofed, and chews the cud, among the beasts, you shall eat.

14.7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof. the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit. for they chew the cud, and divide not the hoof. they are unclean unto you.

14.8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, and cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. ye shall not eat of their flesh, and ye shall not touch their carcase.

14.9 These you shall eat of all that are in the waters. all that have fins and scales you shall eat.

14.10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you.

14.11 Of every clean bird ye shall eat.

14.12 And these are they which ye shall not eat. the eagle, and the vulture, and the osprey.

14.13 And he showed and the omen and the sign to Mina.

14.14 And every evening of ours

14.15 And the ostrich, and the heron, and the gull, and the falcon after his kind,

14.16 The cup and the owl and you breathed

14.17 And you vomited out the womb and the seed.

14.18 And the stork, and the heron, and the pelican, and the bat,

14.19 And every creeping thing that fowls is unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.

14.20 You may eat any clean bird.

14.21 You shall not eat any carcase of a stranger that is within your gates; you shall give it to him to eat, or sell it to a stranger; for you are a holy people to YHVH your God. You shall not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.

14.22 Thou shalt tithe all the increase of thy seed, which the field bringeth forth year by year.

14.23 And thou shalt eat before YHVH thy God in the place which he shall choose to cause his name to dwell there. There thou shalt inherit the tithe of thy corn, and shalt cleanse it, and the shearing of thy herds and of thy flocks. that thou mayest learn to fear YHVH thy God for ever.

14.24 And if the journey be too great for thee, that thou mayest not be able to bear it, because the place which YHVH thy God shall choose to put his name there is too far from thee; for YHVH thy God will bless thee.

14.25 And thou shalt give it in money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and go unto the place which YHVH thy God shall choose.

14.26 And thou shalt give the money for whatsoever thy soul desireth, for oxen, and for sheep, for wine, and for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh. and thou shalt eat there before YHVH thy God, and shalt rejoice, thou and thine household.

14.27 And the Levite that is within thy gates thou shalt not forsake. for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

14.28 At the end of three years you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year and lay it up within your gates.

14.29 And the Levite, because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and eat and be satisfied; that YHVH thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

15.1 At the end of seven years you shall make a fallow land.

15.2 And this is the matter of the rod of Moses, whose hand is in the rod of Moses, which he hath with his neighbour, he shall not come near his neighbour, nor his brother, because he hath called the rod of YHVH.

15.3 You shall approach a foreigner, and whatever is yours, your brother, you shall put away your hand.

15.4 Only if there is no poor among you, for YHVH will bless you in the land which YHVH your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess it.

15.5 Only if you diligently obey the voice of YHVH your God, to observe and do all this commandment which I command you today,

15.6 For YHVH thy God hath blessed thee, as he hath promised thee. and thou shalt subdue many nations. and thou shalt not subdue and rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over thee.

15.7 If there be among you a poor man, of one of your brethren, within any of your gates in your land which YHVH your God giveth you, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother.

15.8 For if he open, thou shalt open thine hand unto him, and if he be poor, thou shalt suffice him with his want, and he shall lack nothing.

15.9 Beware lest there be a thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry against you to YHVH, and it be sin in you.

15.10 You shall give him a gift, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give it to him, because for this thing YHVH your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.

15.11 For the poor shall not cease out of the land. therefore I command thee, saying, Open wide thine hand unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy fatherless in thy land.

15.12 If your brother, a Hebrew or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from your people.

15.13 And if you send us away free from your people, you will not send us away empty-handed.

15.14 You shall give to him from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress, which YHVH your God has blessed you with, you shall give to him.

15.15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and YHVH thy God redeemed thee. therefore I command thee this thing this day.

15.16 And it shall come to pass, if he say unto thee, I will not go out from thee; because I love thee and thy house, because it is well with thee in his sight.

15.17 And thou shalt take the awl, and put it in his ear, and in his door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. and thou shalt do likewise unto thy mother.

15.18 It shall not be grievous in thine eyes to send him away free from thy people. for he is worth six years' wages to thy hired servant. and YHVH thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

15.19 Every firstborn male that is born of your herd and of your flock you shall sanctify to YHVH your God. You shall not do any work with the firstborn of your ox, nor shall you do any evil with the firstborn of your sheep.

15.20 You shall eat it before YHVH your God year by year in the place which YHVH will choose, you and your household.

15.21 And if there be in it a blemish, or a skin, any evil blemish, ye shall not sacrifice it unto YHVH your God.

15.22 Within your gates you shall eat the unclean and the clean together, as the gazelle and the ram.

15.23 Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.

16.1 Observe the month of spring, and keep the passover to YHVH your God. for in the month of spring YHVH your God brought you out of Egypt by night.

16.2 And thou shalt sacrifice the passover unto YHVH thy God, of the flock and of the herd, in the place which YHVH shall choose to cause his name to dwell there.

16.3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste, that you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

16.4 And there shall be no residue seen in all thy coasts seven days. neither shall any of the flesh which thou shalt sacrifice in the evening on the first day remain until the morning.

16.5 You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates which YHVH your God gives you.

16.6 But at the place which YHVH thy God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the time when thou camest out of Egypt.

16.7 And thou shalt cook and eat in the place which YHVH thy God shall choose. and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

16.8 Six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly to YHVH your God; you shall do no work.

16.9 Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee, from the beginning of the sickle in the morning, begin to number seven weeks.

16.10 And thou shalt keep the feast of sevens unto YHVH thy God, of the handful of a freewill offering which thou shalt give, as YHVH thy God hath blessed thee.

16.11 And you shall rejoice before YHVH your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow that are among you, in the place which YHVH your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there.

16.12 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and shalt keep and do these statutes.

16.13 You shall keep the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days, when you gather in from your threshing floor and your winepress.

16.14 And you shall rejoice in your feast, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within your gates.

16.15 Seven days shalt thou keep a feast unto YHVH thy God in the place which YHVH shall choose. for YHVH thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the work of thy hand; and thou shalt be altogether joyful.

16.16 Three times a year shall all your descendants appear before YHVH your God in the place which he shall choose. in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles. and they shall not appear before YHVH empty-handed.

16.17 Every man according to his ability, according to the blessing of YHVH thy God which he hath given thee.

16.18 Judges and officers shalt thou appoint unto thee in all thy gates, which YHVH thy God giveth thee throughout thy tribes. and they shall judge the people with just judgment.

16.19 Thou shalt not pervert judgment, thou shalt not respect persons, nor take a bribe. for a bribe blindeth the eyes of the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

16.20 Pursue righteousness, that you may live and inherit the land which YHVH your God is giving you.

16.21 You shall not plant for yourself any tree of this kind near the altar of YHVH your God, which you shall make for yourself.

16.22 And thou shalt not set thee up any pillar, which YHVH thy God hateth.

17.1 You shall not sacrifice to YHVH your God an ox or a sheep that has any defect in it, for that is an abomination to YHVH your God.

17.2 If there be found among you, within any of your gates which YHVH your God gives you, man or woman, that doeth evil in the sight of YHVH your God, to transgress his covenant,

17.3 And he went and served other Gods, and worshipped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I had not commanded.

17.4 And it shall be told thee, and thou shalt hear, and shalt search diligently. and, behold, it is true, and certain, that this abomination is done in Israel.

17.5 And thou shalt bring forth that man or that woman, which have done this wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, that they die.

17.6 At the mouth of two witnesses or three witnesses shall the dead be put to death. he shall not be put to death at the mouth of one witness.

17.7 The hand of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and the hand of all the people afterward. and thou shalt put the evil away from among you.

17.8 If a matter should arise against you, between blood for blood, between judgment for judgment, and between injury for injury, the words of your quarrel within your gates, then you shall arise and go up to the place which YHVH your God will choose.

17.9 And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire, and they shall shew thee the matter of the judgment.

17.10 And thou shalt do according to the word which they shall tell thee of that place which YHVH shall choose, and shalt be careful to do according to all that he shall tell thee.

17.11 According to the law which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, thou shalt do. thou shalt not turn aside from the word which they shall say unto thee, to the right hand or to the left.

17.12 And the man that shall do presumptuously, in not listening unto the priest that standeth to minister there unto YHVH thy God, or unto the judge, that man shall die; and thou shalt put away evil from Israel.

17.13 And all the people shall hear, and fear, and shall be no more deceived.

17.14 When you come to the land which YHVH your God gives you, and possess it, and dwell in it, and say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are round about me,

17.15 You shall set a king over you, whom YHVH your God shall choose from among your brothers. You shall set a king over you. You may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

17.16 Only he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return out of Egypt for the sake of multiplying horses. and YHVH hath said unto you, Ye shall never return that way again.

17.17 He shall not multiply wives to himself, nor shall his heart turn aside, nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold to himself.

17.18 And it came to pass, when he sat on the throne of his kingdom, that he wrote for him this law in a book from before the priests the Levites.

17.19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read in him all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear YHVH his God, to keep all the words of this law, and these statutes, to do them.

17.20 That his heart may not be lifted up above his brethren, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, that he may prolong his days upon his kingdom, he and his sons in the midst of Israel.

18.1 The priests the Levites shall have no part nor inheritance with the people of Israel. they shall eat the offerings of YHVH, and his inheritance.

18.2 And he shall have no inheritance among his brethren. YHVH is his inheritance, as he said unto him.

18.3 And this shall be the judgment of the priests from the people concerning the sacrifices of the sacrifice, whether of a bullock or of a lamb. and he shall give unto the priest the seed, and the cheeks, and the fat.

18.4 The firstfruits of your grain shall be your inheritance, and you shall be exalted, and the firstlings of your flock you shall give to him.

18.5 For YHVH your God has chosen him out of all your tribes to stand to minister in the name of YHVH, he and his sons forever.

18.6 And if a Levite come from one of your gates out of all Israel where he sojourns, and come with all the desire of his soul unto the place which YHVH shall choose,

18.7 And he ministered in the name of YHVH his God, as all his brethren the Levites, which stood there before YHVH.

18.8 They shall eat, one portion after another, apart from their acquaintances, on the fathers' side.

18.9 For when you come into the land which YHVH your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

18.10 There shall not be found among you one who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who practices witchcraft, a sorcerer, or a sorcerer,

18.11 And he shall ask a friend, and inquire of the father, and shall inquire of the dead.

18.12 For all who do these things are an abomination to YHVH; and because of these abominations YHVH your God is driving them out from before you.

18.13 You shall be blameless with YHVH your God.

18.14 For these nations, which thou shalt dispossess, hearken unto enchantments and to sorceries. but YHVH thy God hath not given thee so.

18.15 YHVH your God will raise up for you a prophet from among you, from your brothers, like me; to him you shall listen.

18.16 As thou hast asked of YHVH thy God concerning the sword in the day of the assembly, saying, I will not hearken unto the voice of YHVH my God, nor see this great fire any more, lest I die.

18.17 And YHVH said unto me, They have well spoken.

18.18 I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I command him.

18.19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him from among his people.

18.20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other Gods, that prophet shall die.

18.21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which YHVH hath not spoken?

18.22 When a prophet speaks in the name of YHVH, if the thing does not occur or come to pass, that is the thing which YHVH has not spoken in vain. The prophet's word shall not be fulfilled.

19.1 For YHVH your God will cut off the nations whose land YHVH your God is giving you, and you will possess them and live in their cities and in their houses.

19.2 You shall set apart for yourself three cities in the midst of your land, which YHVH your God gives you to possess.

19.3 You shall prepare the way for yourself and mark out the border of your land, which YHVH your God is giving you as an inheritance, and every murderer shall flee thither.

19.4 And this is the case of the murderer, who shall flee thither, and live, who smiteth his neighbour unawares, and hated him not, because he hath put him to death.

19.5 And if a man bring his neighbor into the forest to hew wood, and his hand put his hand to the axe to cut down the tree, and the head of the axe was pulled out of the tree, and he found his neighbor dead, he shall flee to one of these cities and live.

19.6 Lest the avenger of blood pursue after the murderer, because his heart is hot, and he overtake him, because the way is long, and he smite a soul, and there is no death sentence upon him, because he hated him not from the day before.

19.7 Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart for yourself three cities.

19.8 And if YHVH thy God enlarge thy border, as he sware unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers,

19.9 If you keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love YHVH your God, and to walk in his ways always, then you shall add three more cities to you, besides these three.

19.10 And you shall not shed innocent blood in the midst of your land, which YHVH your God gives you for an inheritance, and blood be upon you.

19.11 And if a man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him, that he die, and flee unto one of the cities of YHVH,

19.12 And the elders of his city sent, and took him from thence, and delivered him into the hand of the redeemer of blood, and he died.

19.13 Your eye shall not spare him, nor shall you burn the innocent blood of Israel, and it shall be well with you.

19.14 You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which he has set as a boundary, in your inheritance which you shall inherit in the land which YHVH your God gives you to possess.

19.15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin. at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

19.16 For he will rise up against a man to answer him with a slander.

19.17 And both the men, between whom the controversy was, shall stand before YHVH, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days.

19.18 And the judges inquired diligently, and behold, the false witness testified falsely against his brother.

19.19 And you shall do to him as he had planned to do to his brother, and you shall remove the evil from among you.

19.20 And those who remain will hear and fear, and will never again do any more such evil as this among you.

19.21 And thine eye shall not spare. life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

20.1 When you go out to war against your enemy and see horses and horsemen and a people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them, for YHVH your God is with you, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

20.2 And it shall be, as you draw near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people,

20.3 And he said unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye draw nigh this day unto battle against your enemies. let not your hearts faint, fear not, neither be hasty, neither be affrighted before them.

20.4 For YHVH your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

20.5 And the officers spake unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? Let him go and dwell in his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.

20.6 And what man is there that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not defiled it? Let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the war, and another man defile it?

20.7 And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her to himself? Let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.

20.8 And the officers made an end of speaking unto the people, and said, Who is the man that feareth and is of a tender heart? Let him go and return unto his house, and not turn his brother's heart from his own heart?

20.9 And it came to pass, when the officers had made an end of speaking unto the people, that the captains of the armies appointed over the people,

20.10 For when you approach a city to fight against it, and proclaim peace to it,

20.11 And it shall be, if it be peaceable, that thou shalt open it unto thee, and all the people that are therein shall be tribute unto thee, and serve thee.

20.12 And if she make no peace with thee, and make war against thee, and afflict her,

20.13 And YHVH thy God shall deliver it into thine hand, and thou shalt smite all the remnant of it with the edge of the sword.

20.14 Only the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, all the spoil thereof shalt thou take for thyself. and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which YHVH thy God hath given thee.

20.15 Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations, behold,

20.16 Only of the cities of these peoples, which YHVH thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, thou shalt not let any soul live.

20.17 For you shall utterly destroy the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, as YHVH your God has commanded you.

20.18 Lest they teach you to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their Gods, and so sin against YHVH your God.

20.19 When you besiege a city for many days to fight against it to capture it, you shall not destroy its counsel by moving an axe against it, for you shall eat of it, and you shall not cut it down; for man is a tree of the field, and he shall come before you in the siege.

20.20 Only the tree which thou knowest that it is not a tree for food, thou shalt destroy it, and cut it down, and build siegeworks against the city with which it maketh war against thee, until it fall.

21.1 If a slain man be found in the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee to possess it, fallen in the field, and it be not known who smote him.

21.2 Then your elders and your judges will go out and measure to the cities that are around the desert.

21.3 And it came to pass, that the city that was near the slain, that the elders of that city took an oxen cart, that had not been worked, that had not drawn an owner,

21.4 And the elders of that city took the cart down to a valley where no one had worked or sown, and they slew the cart there in the valley.

21.5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near. for of them hath YHVH thy God chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of YHVH. and by them shall every controversy and every affliction be.

21.6 And all the elders of that city, who are near the slain, shall wash their hands over the slain cart in the brook.

21.7 And they answered and said, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.

21.8 Make atonement for your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, O LORD, and do not let innocent blood be shed among your people Israel, and we will make atonement for their blood.

21.9 And thou shalt purge the innocent blood from among thee, because thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of YHVH.

21.10 For when thou goest out to war against thine enemies, and YHVH thy God delivereth them into thine hand, and thou takest them captive,

21.11 And if you see among your captives a beautiful woman, and you desire her, and you take her to be your wife,

21.12 And she shall bring her into thine house, and shave her head, and trim her nails.

21.13 And she shall put off the garments of her captivity from off her, and shall dwell in thine house, and mourn for her father and for her mother a full moon day. and afterward thou shalt go in unto her, and she shall marry thee, and she shall be thy wife.

21.14 And if thou delight not in her, and send her away for her own life, and sell her, thou shalt not sell her for money, nor oppress her in the place where thou hast hired her.

21.15 For a man shall have two wives, one beloved, and the other hated. and the beloved and the hated shall bear him children; and the firstborn shall be the son of the hated.

21.16 And it shall come to pass in the day that he shall cause his sons to inherit that which he shall have, that he shall not prefer the son of the beloved above the son of the hated, the firstborn.

21.17 For he shall acknowledge the hated firstborn, to give him double of all that he findeth. for he is the beginning of the judgment of the firstborn.

21.18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and will drive him away, and will not hearken unto them.

21.19 And his father and mother took him, and brought him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place.

21.20 And they said unto the elders of his city, This our son is rebellious and bitter. he will not hearken unto our voice, he is a glutton, and a glutton.

21.21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die. and thou shalt purge the evil from among you. and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

21.22 And if a man commit a sin worthy of death, and is put to death, and hanged on a tree,

21.23 His dead body shall not remain upon the tree; for he is a cursed person, and you shall bury him on that day. Therefore you shall not defile your land, which YHVH your God gives you as an inheritance.

22.1 Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep driven away, and hide thyself from them; thou shalt surely restore them unto thy brother.

22.2 And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, and thou knowest him not, and bring him into thine house, and he shall be with thee until thy brother seek after him, and thou restore him to him.

22.3 And so shalt thou do with his ass, and so shalt thou do with his garment, and so shalt thou do with every loss of thy brother, which thou shalt lose of him, and find, and shalt not be able to hide it.

22.4 If you see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen on the road and ignore them, you must rise up and help him.

22.5 No man's garment shall be on a woman, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment. for all that do these things are an abomination unto YHVH thy God.

22.6 If a bird's nest is found before you along the road, in any tree or on the ground, and the mother sits on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother from the young.

22.7 Send away the mother, and take the children to yourself, that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.

22.8 When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, and you shall not bring bloodshed into your house, for whoever falls from it will fall.

22.9 You shall not sow your vineyard with thorns, lest the seed which you sow and the fruit of the vineyard be defiled.

22.10 You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.

22.11 You shall not wear a garment of wool and linen together.

22.12 You shall make for yourself fringes on the four corners of your garment with which you cover yourself.

22.13 For if a man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,

22.14 And he slandered her, and brought up an evil name upon her, and said, I took this woman, and came in unto her, and found her not a virgin.

22.15 And the father of the child and his mother took the child's virgins, and brought them out unto the elders of the city of HaSharah.

22.16 And the father of the youth said unto the elders, I gave my daughter to this man to wife, and he hateth her.

22.17 And, behold, he slandered thee, saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin, and these are the virgins of my daughters. and they spread the garment before the elders of the city.

22.18 And the elders of that city took the man and cast him out.

22.19 And they shall fine him an hundred pieces of silver, and give them to the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel. and if she be his wife, he shall not be able to put her away all his days.

22.20 And if this thing were true, no virgins were found for the young man.

22.21 And they shall bring out the young woman unto the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones, that she die. because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the harlot in her father's house, and thou hast put away evil from among thee.

22.22 If a man is found lying with a woman married to an husband, and they both die, the man who lay with the woman and the woman, and the evil is committed in Israel.

22.23 If a young woman be a virgin, and betrothed to a man, and find a man in the city, and he lie with her,

22.24 And ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones; that the young man die, because he cried not in the city, and the man because he hath oppressed his neighbour's wife. and ye shall put away evil from among you.

22.25 And if the man find the damsel in law in the field, and the man seize her, and lie with her, and the man that lay with her die alone.

22.26 And thou shalt do nothing unto the child. there is no sin worthy of death in the child. but when a man riseth up against his neighbour, and slayeth a soul, so is this matter.

22.27 For in the field the cry of the young man was found, and there was none to save her.

22.28 If a man find a young woman who is a virgin, who has not been betrothed, and seize her and lie with her, and they are found

22.29 And the man that lay with her gave the girl's father fifty pieces of silver, and she should be his wife, in place of the one who had sworn that he could not send her away all his days.

23.1 A man shall not take his father's wife, nor uncover his father's nakedness.

23.2 No one who is wounded or has a broken bone or a broken leg shall enter the assembly of YHVH.

23.3 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of YHVH; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of YHVH.

23.4 An Ammonite or a Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of YHVH; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of YHVH for ever.

23.5 Because they did not meet you with bread and water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor, the son of Zohar of the rivers of Aram, to curse you.

23.6 And YHVH thy God would not hearken unto Balaam. but YHVH thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because YHVH thy God loved thee.

23.7 You shall not seek their peace or their prosperity all your days forever.

23.8 You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a foreigner in his land.

23.9 The sons that they beget of the third generation shall enter into the congregation of YHVH.

23.10 For you will go out to battle against your enemies and be kept from all evil.

23.11 For if there be among you any man that is not clean by night, and goeth out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp.

23.12 And it shall be, that at even he shall wash himself with water. and at the going down of the sun he shall come into the camp.

23.13 And your hand shall be without the camp, and you shall go forth there without.

23.14 And thou shalt have a peg in thine ear, and it shall be in thy dwelling place without, and thou shalt dig therein, and shalt sit down, and cover thy going out.

23.15 For YHVH thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee. and thy camp shall be holy. he will not see any nakedness in thee, nor turn back from thee.

23.16 You shall not deliver to his master a slave who has escaped to you from his master's company.

23.17 Your people will live among you in the place they choose in one of your gates, and you will not be troubled.

23.18 There shall be no holy thing among the daughters of Israel, and there shall be no holy thing among the sons of Israel.

23.19 You shall not bring a prostitute or the price of a dog into the house of YHVH your God for any vow, for both of them are an abomination to YHVH your God.

23.20 You shall not lend to your brother anything that he may lend, whether silver or victuals.

23.21 You shall not give to a stranger anything, but to your brother anything; that YHVH your God may bless you in all the work of your hand in the land which you are entering to possess.

23.22 For if you vow a vow to YHVH your God, you shall not be slack to pay it; for YHVH your God will surely require it of you, and it shall be sin in you.

23.23 And if thou forsake thy vow, it shall be no sin in thee.

23.24 You shall keep the promise of your lips, and do as you vowed to YHVH your God, a freewill offering that you have uttered with your mouth.

23.25 When you enter your neighbor's vineyard and eat grapes to your heart's content, but you do not put any into your own vessel,

23.26 If you come to your neighbor's standing grain and gather the grain with your hand, you shall not lift a sickle against your neighbor's standing grain.

24.1 If a man take a wife and her husband, and it come to pass, if she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some lewdness in her, then he shall write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

24.2 And she went out from his house, and went and became another man's.

24.3 And the latter man hateth her, and writeth her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house. or else the latter man die, whom she took to be his wife.

24.4 Her former husband, who sent her away, may not return to take her to be his wife after she has been defiled, for that is an abomination before YHVH, and you shall not cause the land to sin which YHVH your God gives you for an inheritance.

24.5 If a man takes a new wife, and does not go out to war, nor does he go overboard in any way, he shall be clean at home for one year, and he shall rejoice in his wife whom he has taken.

24.6 He shall not bind the chariot and the horse, for the soul is a bond.

24.7 If a man be found stealing a soul from his brother of the children of Israel, and oppress him, and sell him, that thief shall die, and thou shalt purge the evil from among you.

24.8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, to be very careful, and to do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you, as ye are commanded, so shall ye be careful to do.

24.9 Remember what YHVH your God did to Miriam on the way, when you came out of Egypt.

24.10 If you owe your neighbor anything, you shall not go into his house to pay his debt.

24.11 You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you are carrying shall bring out the pledge to you outside.

24.12 And if a man be poor, thou shalt not lie down in his labor.

24.13 Restore to him the pledge at sunset, and let him lie down in peace, and bless him, and you will have righteousness before YHVH your God.

24.14 You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he be one of your brothers or one of your sojourners who is in your land within your gates.

24.15 In his day shalt thou give him his hire, and the sun shall not go down upon him. for he is poor, and upon him hath he lifted up his soul, and he hath not cried unto YHVH against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

24.16 Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; a man shall be put to death for his own sin.

24.17 You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger and the fatherless, nor rob the widow of her raiment.

24.18 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and YHVH thy God redeemed thee thence. therefore I command thee to do this thing.

24.19 When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf of grain in the field, you shall not take it back again; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow; that YHVH your God may bless you in all the work of your hand.

24.20 When you beat your olive tree, you will not boast after you. It will be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.

24.21 When you fortify your vineyard, you shall not be able to make it a stranger, an orphan, or a widow.

24.22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt. therefore I command thee to do this thing.

25.1 For there shall be a controversy between men, and they shall come to judgment and judgment, and justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

25.2 And it shall come to pass, if the son of the wicked man be beaten, that they shall overthrow the judge, and shall beat him before him according to his wickedness in number.

25.3 Forty shall he not add, lest he add to them a great plague, and thy brother be destroyed before thine eyes.

25.4 You shall not hinder an ox from threshing.

25.5 If brothers live together, and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the dead man shall not go out to another man to marry him; he shall go in to her and take her as his wife, and she shall marry him.

25.6 And it shall be, that the firstborn which thou shalt bear shall rise up in the name of his dead brother, and his name shall not be blotted out of Israel.

25.7 And if the man will not take his brother's hand, and his brother's hand shall come up unto the elders, and say, Who is the brother of my father to establish a name for his brother in Israel? The brother of my father shall not be my brother.

25.8 And the elders of his city called him, and spake unto him. and he stood, and said, I will not take her.

25.9 And his mother-in-law came to him in the sight of the elders, and took off his shoe from off his foot, and spat in his face, and answered and said, Thus shall it be done to the man that will not build up his brother's house.

25.10 And his name was called in Israel, The house of the pioneer of the shoe.

25.11 And when men were fighting together, every man against his brother, and the wife of the one drew near to deliver her husband out of his hand, and put forth her hand, and caught him by his garment.

25.12 And if you cut off his paw, your eye will not spare.

25.13 You shall not have in your pocket a stone, a large or small stone.

25.14 You shall not have in your house any thing great or small,

25.15 The stone of Solomon, and righteousness shall be unto thee. where is Solomon, and righteousness shall be unto thee. that thy days may be long upon the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee.

25.16 For all who do these things, and all who do wickedness, are an abomination to YHVH your God.

25.17 Remember what Amalek did to you on the way, when you came out of Egypt.

25.18 Who has wandered in the way, and all those who are behind you have gathered around you, and you are weary and weary, and do not fear God.

25.19 And it shall be, when YHVH thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

26.1 And it shall come to pass, when thou comest into the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein.

26.2 And thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which thou shalt bring in out of thy land, which YHVH thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a vessel, and shalt go unto the place which YHVH thy God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there.

26.3 And thou shalt come unto the priest that shall be in those days, and shalt say unto him, I declare this day unto YHVH thy God, that I am come unto the land which YHVH sware unto our fathers to give us.

26.4 And the priest shall take the sheaf from thine hand, and set it down before the altar of YHVH thy God.

26.5 And you shall answer and say before YHVH your God, Aram, my father perished, and he went down from Egypt, and sojourned there for a short time, and became there a nation great, mighty, and populous.

26.6 And the Egyptians afflicted us, and afflicted us, and made us serve with hard labor.

26.7 And we cried unto YHVH God of our fathers, and YHVH heard our groaning, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression.

26.8 And YHVH brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror, and with signs, and with wonders.

26.9 And he brought us into this place, and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

26.10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land which YHVH hath given me, and I have set them down before YHVH thy God, and worshipped YHVH thy God.

26.11 And you shall rejoice in all the good which YHVH your God has given you and your household, you, the Levite, and the stranger who is among you.

26.12 For thou shalt tithe all the tithe of thine increase in the third year, the year of the tithe, and shalt give it unto the Levite, the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow. and they shall eat within thy gates, and be satisfied.

26.13 And thou shalt say before YHVH thy God, I have burnt the holy things out of the house, and have also given them to the Levite, and to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me. I have not departed from thy commandments, nor forgotten them.

26.14 I have not eaten of it in my flesh, nor have I made any unclean thing of it, nor have I given any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the voice of YHVH my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.

26.15 Look down from your holy dwelling place, from heaven, and bless your people Israel and the land that you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

26.16 This day YHVH your God commands you to do these statutes and judgments, and you shall keep and do them with all your heart and with all your soul.

26.17 You have declared today that YHVH will be your God, that you will walk in his ways, that you will keep his statutes, his commandments, and his ordinances, and that you will obey his voice.

26.18 And YHVH hath declared thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath spoken unto thee, and to keep all his commandments.

26.19 And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, for praise, and for name, and for glory; and that thou mayest be a holy people unto YHVH thy God, as he hath spoken.

27.1 And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.

27.2 And it shall come to pass on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan into the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and cover them with plaster.

27.3 And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law before thee, that thou mayest go in unto the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as YHVH God of thy fathers promised thee.

27.4 And it shall be, when ye are passed over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and shall coat them with plaster.

27.5 And thou shalt build there an altar unto YHVH thy God, an altar of stones; thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.

27.6 You shall build the altar of YHVH your God with whole stones, and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to YHVH your God.

27.7 And you shall offer peace offerings, and you shall eat there, and rejoice before YHVH your God.

27.8 And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

27.9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Hearken, O Israel, this day ye are become the people of YHVH your God.

27.10 And thou shalt hearken unto the voice of YHVH thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

27.11 And Moses commanded the people that day, saying,

27.12 These shall stand to bless the people upon mount Gerizim, when ye are passed over Jordan. Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

27.13 And these shall stand upon the curse in mount Ebal. Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

27.14 And the Levites answered and said to all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

27.15 Cursed be the man that maketh an idol, or an abomination unto YHVH, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and hideth it. And all the people shall answer, and say, Amen.

27.16 Cursed be the rod of his father and his mother. And all the people said, Amen.

27.17 Cursed is he who moves his neighbor's boundary. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.18 Cursed be he that causeth a man to err in the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.19 Cursed be the scepter of judgment for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife. for he hath uncovered his father's nakedness. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.21 Cursed is he that lieth with any beast. And all the people said, Amen.

27.22 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.23 Cursed is he who lies with his daughter-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.24 Cursed is he who strikes his neighbor secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.

27.25 Cursed be he that taketh a bribe to smite an innocent soul. And all the people said, Amen.

27.26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them, and all the people shall say, Amen.

28.1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt diligently hearken unto the voice of YHVH thy God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that YHVH thy God shall set thee on high above all the nations of the earth.

28.2 And all these blessings shall come upon you, and overtake you, because you shall obey the voice of YHVH your God.

28.3 Blessed art thou in the city, and blessed art thou in the field.

28.4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy thousands, and the increase of thy flock.

28.5 Blessed are you and your descendants.

28.6 Blessed art thou in thy coming in, and blessed art thou in thy going out.

28.7 YHVH shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to stumble before thee. they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.

28.8 YHVH shall command the blessing upon thee in thy barns, and in all the work of thine hand, and shall bless thee in the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee.

28.9 YHVH will establish you as a holy people to himself, as he swore to you, if you keep the commandments of YHVH your God and walk in his ways.

28.10 And all the peoples of the earth shall see that the name of YHVH is called upon thee, and they shall be afraid of thee.

28.11 And YHVH shall bless thee for good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which YHVH sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

28.12 YHVH will open to you his good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand; and you will be a blessing to many nations, and you will not be a blessing to others.

28.13 And YHVH shall make thee the head, and not the tail; thou shalt be above only, and shalt not be beneath. if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of YHVH thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

28.14 And you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other Gods to serve them.

28.15 And it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of YHVH thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

28.16 Cursed art thou in the city, and cursed art thou in the field.

28.17 Cursed be your descendants and your descendants alone.

28.18 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, which thou hast multiplied, and which thou hast multiplied, and which thou hast multiplied,

28.19 Cursed art thou when thou comest in, and cursed art thou when thou goest out.

28.20 YHVH shall send upon thee plagues, confusion, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand to do, until thou be destroyed, and perish quickly, because of the evil of thy doings, in that thou hast forsaken me.

28.21 YHVH shall make the thing cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.

28.22 YHVH will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with wasting disease, with the sword, with the blast, and with the mildew; and they will pursue you until you are destroyed.

28.23 And your heaven that is over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under you shall be iron.

28.24 YHVH shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust from heaven come down upon thee until thou be destroyed.

28.25 YHVH shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies. thou shalt go out one way against him, and flee seven ways before him. and thou shalt be a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth.

28.26 And your carcass shall be food for all the birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth, and there shall be none to frighten them away.

28.27 YHVH will strike Egypt with the boils, with the scabs, with the itch, and with the scabies, from which you cannot be healed.

28.28 YHVH will strike with madness, and with confusion of heart, and with astonishment of soul.

28.29 And you shall grope at noonday, as a man gropes in the darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways; but you shall be oppressed and robbed all the days, and there shall be no deliverer.

28.30 A woman shall be married, and another man shall take her away. she shall build a house, but not dwell in it; she shall plant a vineyard, but not defile it.

28.31 Your ox is slaughtered before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it; your donkey is stolen from before you, and shall not be brought back to you; your sheep are given to your enemies, and you have no one to rescue them.

28.32 Your sons and your daughters are given to another people, and your eyes look on and see them all day long, and there is nothing in your hand.

28.33 The fruit of your land and all your labor will be eaten up by a nation you do not know, and you will be only oppressed and crushed all your days.

28.34 And you will be maddened by the sight of your eyes which you will see.

28.35 YHVH will strike you with a sore boil on your knees and on your thighs, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head, that you cannot be healed of.

28.36 YHVH will bring you and your king whom you shall set over you to a nation which you and your fathers have not known, and there you will serve other Gods, wood and stone.

28.37 And you shall be a proverb and a byword among all the peoples to whom YHVH shall lead you.

28.38 The field will produce much seed, but will gather little in, because the locust will destroy us.

28.39 You will plant vineyards and cultivate them, but you will not drink the wine or gather the grapes, because the worm will eat them.

28.40 You will have olive trees throughout all your territory, but you will not anoint yourself with oil, because your olives will drop.

28.41 You will have sons and daughters, but they will not be yours, for they will go into captivity.

28.42 All your fruit and the fruit of your ground will be inherited by the hornet.

28.43 The stranger that is among you shall go up above you, and you shall go down below.

28.44 He shall walk, and thou shalt not be dismayed. he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

28.45 And all these curses shall come upon thee, and pursue thee, and overtake thee, until thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of YHVH thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee.

28.46 And they shall be for a sign and for a wonder among you and among your descendants forever.

28.47 Because you did not serve YHVH your God with joy and with a willing heart,

28.48 And you shall serve your enemies whom YHVH shall send against you, with hunger, and with thirst, and with nakedness, and with want of all things; and they shall put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until they have destroyed you.

28.49 YHVH will bring upon you a nation far from the end of the earth, as the eagle flieth, a nation whose language thou shalt not hearken unto.

28.50 A fierce nation, that will not respect the face of the old, nor show favor to the young.

28.51 And it shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy ground, until thou be destroyed, that it shall not leave thee grain, and the wine, which thou hast sent forth, and thou shalt be consumed with thy flock, until they be destroyed with thee.

28.52 And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy wrath come down upon thy high places, and upon thy fortresses, wherein thou trustest, throughout all thy land. And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, throughout all thy land which YHVH thy God hath given thee.

28.53 And you shall eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom YHVH your God has given you, in the siege and in the straitness with which your enemy shall afflict you.

28.54 The man who is tender and very pleasant to you will have evil eyes on his brother, on the wife of his bosom, and on the rest of his children whom he will leave behind.

28.55 You shall give to one of them the flesh of his children, that he may eat, leaving him nothing in the siege and in the strait wherewith thy foe shall afflict thee in all thy gates.

28.56 She who is soft and delightful in you, whose feet have not been tempted, let her eyes wander on the earth from her delight and tenderness, and let her eyes be evil toward the man of her bosom, and toward her son and daughter.

28.57 And her child that is born from her womb, and her children which she shall bear, thou shalt eat them in secret, in the siege and in the straitness wherewith thy foe shall afflict thee in thy gates.

28.58 If you do not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, to fear this glorious and awesome name, YHVH your God,

28.59 And YHVH will make thy plagues and the plagues of thy seed great and faithful, and the plagues of the wicked and faithful.

28.60 And he will bring back upon you all the evil of Egypt, from which you were driven away, and they will cleave to you.

28.61 Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, YHVH will take upon you, until he has destroyed you.

28.62 And ye were left but a few days old, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because ye hearkened not unto the voice of YHVH your God.

28.63 And it shall come to pass, that as YHVH rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so YHVH will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to destroy you, and to pluck you up from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.

28.64 And YHVH shall scatter thee among all people, from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth. and there thou shalt serve other Gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers, wood and stone.

28.65 And among those nations you shall find no ease, neither shall the sole of your foot have rest. but YHVH shall give you there a faint heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of soul.

28.66 And your life will be a burden to you on the other side, and you will fear night and day, and you will not believe in your life.

28.67 In the morning you will say, "Would it were evening!" And in the evening you will say, "Would it were morning!" For the fear of your heart, which you will fear, and for the sight of your eyes, which you will see.

28.68 And YHVH shall bring thee back into Egypt in ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee. thou shalt see it no more again. and there ye shall be sold unto thine enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and there shall be no redemption.

28.69 These are the words of the covenant which YHVH commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them by the sword.

29.1 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that YHVH did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land.

29.2 The great multitudes which thine eyes have seen, and the great tempters,

29.3 And YHVH hath not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

29.4 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your peace did not wear out upon you, and your sandal did not wear out upon your foot.

29.5 You have not eaten bread, nor drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am YHVH your God.

29.6 And when you came to this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we were defeated.

29.7 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

29.8 And ye shall keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

29.9 You stand today, all of you, before YHVH your God, your heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel.

29.10 Your children, your wives, and the stranger who is within your camps, hews down your wood until he draws your water.

29.11 For you have transgressed the covenant of YHVH your God and of his covenant, which YHVH your God has made with you today.

29.12 That he may establish thee this day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he spake unto thee, and as he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

29.13 And it is not with you only that I make this covenant and this covenant.

29.14 For he that sleepeth here with us standeth this day before YHVH our God, and he that is not here with us this day.

29.15 For you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we passed through the nations through which you passed.

29.16 And you shall see their abominations and their dung, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are with them.

29.17 Lest there be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from YHVH our God, to go and serve the Gods of those nations. lest there be among you a root of wormwood, or a wormwood.

29.18 And it came to pass, when he heard the words of this Goddess, that he blessed himself in his heart, saying, Peace shall be unto me. for in the desire of my heart I will go to the couches that quench the thirst.

29.19 YHVH will not be pleased to forgive him, lest then the anger of YHVH and his jealousy be kindled against that man, and all the evil that is written in this book shall come upon him, and YHVH shall blot out his name from under heaven.

29.20 And YHVH shall set them apart for evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the covenant that is written in this book of the law.

29.21 And the latter generation shall say, Your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far country, And shall see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith YHVH hath smitten it.

29.22 The whole land will be a burning brimstone and salt; it will not be sown or sprouted, and no grass will grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, the land of the Philistines, which YHVH overthrew in his anger and in his wrath.

29.23 And all the nations shall say, Wherefore hath YHVH done thus unto this land? what is the wrath of this great nose?

29.24 And they said, Because they have forsaken the covenant of YHVH God of their fathers, which he made with them, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

29.25 And they went and served other Gods, and bowed down to them, Gods whom they knew not, neither was their portion.

29.26 And the anger of YHVH was kindled against that land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book.

29.27 And YHVH cast them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

29.28 Which is hid from YHVH our God, and is revealed unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

30.1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to thy mind among all the nations whither YHVH thy God hath driven thee.

30.2 And thou shalt abide before YHVH thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

30.3 And YHVH thy God will turn away thy captivity, and have mercy on thee, and return, and gather thee from all the people whither YHVH thy God hath scattered thee.

30.4 If you are cast out to the uttermost part of heaven, from there YHVH your God will gather you, and from there he will take you.

30.5 And YHVH thy God shall bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it, and shalt prosper thee, and multiply thee more than thy fathers.

30.6 And YHVH thy God shall circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love YHVH thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

30.7 And YHVH thy God shall put all these plagues upon thine enemies, and upon them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

30.8 And you shall return and obey the voice of YHVH, and do all his commandments which I command you this day.

30.9 And YHVH thy God shall make thee prosperous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground. for YHVH will return to prosper thee for good, as he prospered thy fathers.

30.10 If you obey the voice of YHVH your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this book of the law, if you return to YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

30.11 For this commandment which I command thee this day is not too strange for thee, neither is it far off.

30.12 It is not in heaven, that we should say, Who shall go up to heaven for us, and bring it unto us? And he shall hear us, and we shall do it.

30.13 And it is not beyond the sea, saying, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

30.14 For the word is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart to do it.

30.15 See, I have set before you today life and good, and death and evil.

30.16 In that I command thee this day to love YHVH thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments. that thou mayest live, and multiply. and YHVH thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

30.17 But if your heart turns away and you do not listen, but turn away and bow down to other Gods and serve them,

30.18 I declare to you today that you will surely perish; you will not prolong your days in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to go in to possess.

30.19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, life and death. I have set before you blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live.

30.20 To love YHVH your God, to obey his voice, and to cleave unto him. for he is your life, and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which YHVH sware unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

31.1 And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.

31.2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old; I am this day no more able to go out or come in. and YHVH said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

31.3 YHVH your God, he it is that goes over before you, he will destroy these nations from before you, and you will possess them. Joshua, he it is that goes over before you, as YHVH has spoken.

31.4 And YHVH did to them as he had done to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and to their land, whom he had destroyed.

31.5 And YHVH shall deliver them before you, and ye shall do unto them according to all the commandment which I have commanded you.

31.6 Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or discouraged because of them, for YHVH your God is the one who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.

31.7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage. for thou shalt bring this people into the land which YHVH sware unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

31.8 And YHVH, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. fear not, nor be dismayed.

31.9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of YHVH, and unto all the elders of Israel.

31.10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the year of the release, in the feast of tabernacles,

31.11 When all Israel comes to appear before YHVH your God in the place which he will choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

31.12 Assemble the people, the men and the women, the little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear YHVH your God, and be careful to do all the words of this law.

31.13 And their children, who have not known, shall hear, and learn to fear YHVH your God, all the days that ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

31.14 And YHVH said unto Moses, Behold, thy days draw nigh that thou must die. call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, and charge him. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

31.15 And YHVH appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of cloud. and the pillar of cloud stood at the door of the tabernacle.

31.16 And YHVH said unto Moses, Behold, thou hast slept with thy fathers, and this people is risen up, and gone a whoring after the Gods of the strangers of the land, whither they are come among them, and have forsaken me, and broken my covenant which I made with them.

31.17 And my anger was kindled against him in that day, and I forsook them, and hid my face from them, and he was devoured, and many evils and troubles befell him. And he said in that day, Is it not because my God is not among me that these evils have befallen me?

31.18 And I will hide my face in that day for all the evil that they have done, in that they have turned unto other Gods.

31.19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel, and put it in their mouths, that I may have this song for ever among the children of Israel.

31.20 For I have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten, and are full, and are waxen fat; and they have turned unto other Gods, and served them, and have despised me, and have broken my covenant.

31.21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have befallen him, that he shall set this song before him for ever, that it shall not be forgotten out of the mouth of his seed. for I know his heart which he doeth this day, before I bring him into the land which I sware unto him.

31.22 And Moses wrote this song that day, and taught it the children of Israel.

31.23 And he commanded Joshua the son of Nun, saying, Be strong and of a good courage. for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them; and I will be with thee.

31.24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until it was finished,

31.25 And Moses commanded the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of YHVH, saying,

31.26 Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of YHVH your God, and it shall be with you forever.

31.27 For I know your rebellion and your stiff neck; while I was still alive with you this day you were rebellious against YHVH, and even after my death you have been rebellious.

31.28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them.

31.29 For I know that after my death you will corruptly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you, and that evil will befall you in the latter days, because you will do evil in the sight of YHVH, to provoke him to anger with the work of your hands.

31.30 And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished.

32.1 Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

32.2 He will pour down rain upon my head, and I will pour down dew upon my head. I said, “When they are like grass, and like dew upon the grass,

32.3 For I will call upon the name of YHVH. YHVH is great, even our God.

32.4 The rock is blameless in his actions, for all his ways are justice and truth, and there is no injustice; he is righteous and upright.

32.5 He has destroyed him, not his sons, but a stubborn and perverse generation.

32.6 You have rendered this to YHVH, O wicked and unwise man. Is he not your father, he who bought you, he who made you, and formed you?

32.7 Remember the days of old, the years of many generations. Ask your father, and your elders will tell you, and they will tell you.

32.8 When the Most High scattered the nations, when he separated the people, he set the boundary of the peoples for the number of the children of Israel.

32.9 For YHVH hath divided unto him the land of his inheritance, even Jacob.

32.10 He will find him in a desert land, and in his house he will make him fat, he will surround him, he will build him, he will make him like the apple of his eye.

32.11 As an eagle stirs up its nest over its young, it soars, it spreads its wings, it takes them, it bears them on its pinions.

32.12 YHVH alone will rest us, and there is no foreign God with him.

32.13 He shall ride upon the dead of the earth, and shall eat the increase of my breasts, and shall suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flint.

32.14 Butter of oxen and milk of sheep, with the milk of rams, rams of Bashan and he-goats, with the milk of the kidneys of wheat, and the blood of grapes, you shall drink wine.

32.15 And Ishron waxed fat, and cast out the fat of the cistern, and cast out the God that made him, and the rock that saved him waxed white.

32.16 He will envy foreigners with abhorrence, he will provoke them to anger.

32.17 They will sacrifice to demons, these are not Gods, they did not know them, new ones came from the midst, not your fathers were naked.

32.18 Give birth to your child and forget your slanderer.

32.19 And YHVH feared and was abhorred because of the anger of his sons and daughters.

32.20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be. for they are a generation of perverseness, children in whom I will not believe.

32.21 They have provoked me to jealousy without God, they have provoked me with their vanities. and I will provoke them to anger with a people without a people, with a wicked nation.

32.22 For a fire is kindled in my nostrils, and burneth even to the lowest hell, and devoureth the earth, and consumeth it, and setteth on fire the foundations of the mountains.

32.23 She gathered together their evil deeds, and half of them were eaten.

32.24 I will send upon them famine and pestilence, and bitter pestilence, and the fangs of beasts, with the fury of caterpillars.

32.25 Without, a sword will strike, and terror will be within, both the young man and the nursing virgin, even the gray-haired man.

32.26 I said, "I will destroy their memory from among men."

32.27 If it were not for the anger of the enemy, I would gather them together, lest they should be ashamed, lest they should say, Our hand is strong, and YHVH has not done all this.

32.28 For the people are lost in their counsels, and there is no understanding in them.

32.29 If only they were wise, they would understand this in their later years.

32.30 How shall one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except it be that YHVH hath delivered them up?

32.31 For not as our enemy is cruel, and our enemies are criminals

32.32 For the vine of Sodom is a vine, and the vine of Amrah is a vine, and the vine of Goliath

32.33 The wrath of their wine is like wine, and the head of the cruel tyrants

32.34 Is it not as a tribute to me, sealed in my treasury?

32.35 Vengeance is mine, and recompense, at the time when their foot shall stumble. for the day of their destruction is near, and thou hast prepared for them.

32.36 For YHVH will be with his people, and will have compassion on his servants. for he seeth that his hand is feeble, and that there is none left, neither forsaken.

32.37 And he said, O God, let Tyre be his refuge in him.

32.38 They shall eat the milk of their sacrifices, they shall drink the wine. your princes shall rise up, and your helpers shall be against you.

32.39 See now that I, I am he, and there is no God with me. I kill and make alive, I wound and I heal, and there is none that can deliver from my hand.

32.40 For I will lift up my hand to heaven, and say, As I live for ever,

32.41 If I send forth the lightning of my sword, and take hold of my hand in judgment, I will take vengeance on my enemy, and I will repay him that hateth me.

32.42 I will hire half a thousand, and my sword shall devour flesh, and the blood of the slain, and the captivity of the first of the enemy's rampages.

32.43 Let the nations rejoice with him, for the blood of his servants will be avenged, and he will avenge his enemies, and his land will be redeemed with him.

32.44 And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea the son of Nun.

32.45 And Moses spoke all these words to all Israel.

32.46 And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify unto you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do all the words of this law.

32.47 For it is not a matter of mere words, but of your life; and by this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

32.48 And YHVH spake unto Moses the same day, saying,

32.49 Go up into this mountain of the Hebrews, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is opposite Jericho, and see the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel for a possession.

32.50 And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in the mount, and was gathered unto his people.

32.51 Because ye provoked me to anger among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribbaat, at the sanctuary of the wilderness of Zaan, because ye sanctified me not among the children of Israel.

32.52 For you will see the land from afar, but you will not go there to the land that I am giving to the people of Israel.

33.1 And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

33.2 And YHVH said, He came from Sinai, and rose up from Shiloh unto him; he appeared from Mount Paran. and thou, from the holy multitude at his right hand, didst thou destroy him?

33.3 Even the beloved of the nations, all their saints are in your hand, and they shall bow down at your feet. He shall bear your words.

33.4 The Torah Moses commanded us, the legacy of Jacob, Ecclesiastes

33.5 And it came to pass in Bishron, when the heads of the people were gathered together, all the tribes of Israel,

33.6 Let Reuben live and not die, and let his death be numbered.

33.7 And this is for Judah, and he said, YHVH hear the voice of Judah, and bring us unto his people. his hands are great for him, and his help shall be from Egypt.

33.8 And to Levi he said, "Support and teach your righteous man, whom you have tried in the mass, and you have made him a leader over the people of strife."

33.9 He who says to his father and to his mother, I have not seen him, and does not acknowledge his brothers, and does not know his own son, that they may keep your word and keep your covenant.

33.10 They shall declare thy judgments unto Jacob, and thy law unto Israel. they shall put incense in thy nostrils, and a crown upon thine altar.

33.11 YHVH hath blessed his army, and the work of his hands hath pleased him. he hath broken the loins of his enemies, and his enemies are from thence.

33.12 Of Benjamin he said, The friend of YHVH shall dwell safely upon him, he shall cover him all the day long, and between his shoulders shall he dwell.

33.13 And of Joseph he said, Blessed be YHVH of his land, for the dew of heaven, and the deep that lieth beneath.

33.14 And from the harvest of the sun, and from the harvest of the moon,

33.15 And from the top of the eastern mountains, and from the summit of the hills of the world.

33.16 And from the covenant of the land, and the fullness thereof, and the desire of my neighbors, the harvest thereof, shall be upon the head of Joseph, and upon the crown of the head of the Nazarite his brother.

33.17 The firstborn of his bull is his glory, and the horns of a ram are his horns. with them shall he smite the people together, the ends of the earth; and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

33.18 And to Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, and Issachar in your tents.

33.19 Peoples shall call upon the mountain, and there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness. for with abundance of days they shall be cleansed, and the groves shall be as the sand pits.

33.20 And of Gad, Baruch said, Gad is a great slayer, and a ravenous raven, and a ravenous raven.

33.22 And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion's whelp, he shall leap from Bashan.

33.23 And of Naphtali he said, Naphtali, satisfied and full of the blessing of YHVH, he shall inherit the sea and the south.

33.24 And when Baruch said, "Blessed are the sons of my brother, and he is well pleased with him, he shall dip his foot in the oil."

33.25 Iron and bronze are your sandals, and your armor is your armor.

33.26 There is none like the God of Israel, who rides the heavens with your help and in your glory the skies.

33.27 The God of the east and of the west, the seed of the world, will drive out the enemy from before you, and will say, Destroy.

33.28 And Israel shall dwell securely in the wilderness of Jacob, in a land of grain and wine, whose heavens shall drop down dew.

33.29 Blessed art thou, O Israel. who is like unto thee, a people saved in YHVH, the shield of thy help? and the sword of thy pride hath destroyed thee, and thine enemies have despised thee, and thou hast walked upon their high places.

34.1 And Moses went up from the plain of Moab unto Mount Nebo, the top of the peak that is over against Jericho. and YHVH showed him all the land, Gilead unto Dan.

34.2 And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the uttermost sea.

34.3 And the Negev, and the plain, the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto sorrow.

34.10 And there arose not again a prophet in Israel like unto Moses, whom YHVH knew face to face.

34.11 For all the signs and wonders which YHVH sent him to do in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land.

34.12 And for all the mighty hand, and for all the great terror which Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
