JOHN III 1
1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I pray above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brethren came and testified unto thee of the truth, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than these, that I should hear of my children walking in the truth. 5 Beloved, you are doing a faithful thing in whatever you do for the brothers and for strangers, 6 who have testified to your love before the church; whom you have commended in a way worthy of God by your good deeds. 7 For for his name's sake they went out, taking nothing from the Gentiles. 8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow workers with the truth. 9 Write to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves them, does not receive us. 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call to remembrance his works which he does, blaspheming us with wicked words. And not content with these things, he neither receives the brethren, and hinders those who are willing, and casts them out of the church. 11 Beloved, do not imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He who does good is of God: but he who does evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius hath good witness of all men, and of the truth itself: and we also bear witness, and ye know that our witness is true. 13 I have much to write to you, but I do not want to write to you with ink and pen. 14 But I hope to see you face to face, and we will speak face to face. Peace be to you, the friends who embrace you. Embrace your friends by name.
