1 TIMOTHY 1 1 Paul, an apostle of Ihsou Christ by the commandment of God our Savior and of the Lord Ihsou Christ, our hope, 2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Ihsou Christ our Lord. 3 As I asked you to wait for me at Ephesus when I was going to Macedonia, that you might command some not to teach other doctrines, 4 not to give heed to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to speculations rather than to the edification of God which is in faith. 5 And the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned. 6 For some, having erred, have turned aside unto vain babblings, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. 8 But we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully. 9 Seeing this, that there is no law made for the just, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for murderers of men, 10 fornicators, for sodomites, for eunuchs, for liars, perjurers, and if there is anything else contrary to sound doctrine, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which I have believed. 12 And I am grateful to Christ Ihsou our Lord, who has strengthened me, for he counted me faithful, putting me into service. 13 I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and an insolent man. But I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief. 14 But the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Ihsou. 15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of all acceptance, that Christ Ihsou came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost. 16 But for this reason I obtained mercy, so that in me as the foremost Ihsou Christ might display all longsuffering, as a pattern for those who are to come to believe in him for eternal life. 17 Now to the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 18 This charge I commit to you, my son Timothy, according to the prophecies made before you, that you may wage war in them with good courage, 19 having faith and a good conscience, which some, having erred, have made shipwreck concerning the faith; 20 as for Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered to Satan, that they may be taught not to blaspheme. 1 TIMOTHY 2 1 I urge, then, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Ihsou, 6 who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle, I speak the truth in Christ, I lie not, a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8 I desire therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 9 In the same way, women should adorn themselves in modesty, with propriety and sobriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothing, 10 but as is proper for women who profess godliness, with good works. 11 I want women to be quiet and submissive in all things. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to usurp authority over a man, but to be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 But she shall be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with sobriety. 1 TIMOTHY 3 1 The saying is trustworthy: If a man desires the office of overseer, he desires a good work. 2 Then let the overseer be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober, temperate, respectable, hospitable, apt to teach; 3 not a brawler, not a slanderer, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy for money; 4 a good ruler over his own house, having children in subjection with all reverence. 5 If a man does not know how to care for the church of God, 6 not a novice, lest he fall into condemnation, 7 But he must also have a good report from those outside, so that he may not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 8 Deacons likewise must be sober, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for filthy lucre, 9 holding the mystery of the faith in a clear conscience. 10 And these, having been first tested, then ministered without reproach. 11 Women likewise must be sober, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 12 Deacons must be husbands of one wife, having children and ruling their own houses well. 13 For those who have served well consider themselves worthy of a good report, and of great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Ihsou. 14 These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly; 15 but if I delay, that you may know how I behave myself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory. 1 TIMOTHY 4 1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 in the guise of lying talkers, seared in their own consciences, 3 forbidding sexual immorality, abstaining from unclean things, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by believers and to know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving. 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and its application. 6 Be thou therefore a good minister of Ihsou Christ, nourished up in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine, whereunto thou hast followed them. 7 And shun profane and vain babblings, and train thyself unto godliness: 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 9 The word is faithful, and worthy of all receivet. 10 For in this we both labor and are reproached, because we have trusted in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. 11 Command and teach these things. 12 Do not despise the deeds of your youth, but be an example of the believers in speech, in repentance, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, give attention to public reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 These things, however, are to be studied, that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Constantly give yourself to the teaching. Continue in them, for by doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1 TIMOTHY 5 1 Do not rebuke an elder, but entreat him as a father; younger men as brothers; 2 older women as mothers; younger women as sisters, with all purity. 3 Widows, honor those who are widows. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first put their own household in order and make a reparation for their ancestors. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God. 5 But she who is truly a widow and desolate has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day. 6 But she who was prodigal died while she was still alive. 7 And these things I command, that they may be blameless. 8 But if she does not provide for her own, and especially for those of her household, she has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 9 Let a widow be considered a widow if she is not under sixty years old, having been the wife of one husband, 10 well reported on for good works, if she has brought up children, if she has given birth, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has endured the afflicted, if she has devoted herself to every good work. 11 But the younger widows refuse; for when they have become weary of Christ, they desire to marry, 12 having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 13 And they are slow to learn, going from house to house, and not only slow, but also gossips and busybodies, talking things which they ought not. 14 So I desire that the younger ones marry, bear children, manage their households, give no occasion to the one who is to be slandered. 15 For already some have been turned aside after Satan. 16 If any believer has widows, let them be relieved, and let not the church be burdened, that the widows may be relieved. 17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For it is written, “You shall not silence a slanderer,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 20 Those who sin rebuke before all, that the rest also may fear. 21 I charge you before God and the Lord Ihsou Christ and the elect angels to keep these things without partiality, doing nothing by partiality. 22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, do not share in other people's sins, but keep yourself pure. 23 Do not drink water any more, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent illnesses. 24 Some people's sins are obvious, going before them to judgment; but some follow them later. 25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and those that are not cannot be hidden. 1 TIMOTHY 6 1 Let those who are under the yoke of slavery submit to their own masters with all respect, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be blasphemed. 2 And let those who have faithful masters not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve as slaves, because they are faithful and beloved, as recipients of the grace. These things teach and exhort. 3 If he teaches otherwise, and consenteth not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Ihsou Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is a fool, not of faith, but of wantonness and strife, from which cometh envy, strife, blasphemy, evil surmisings, 5 The slanders of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that they are gain, that they may be godliness. From such turn away. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we were not brought into the world to be able to do anything. 8 But having food and clothing, we shall be content with this. 9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful desires, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil, which some, craving for which, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things; but pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were called, and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Ihsou, who before Pontius Pilate confessed the good confession, 14 that you keep the commandment without spot or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Ihsou Christ, 15 which the blessed and only Son of God will show in his own time. The mighty One, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, the light of the unseen, whom no man has seen or can see; to whom be honor and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be high-minded, nor to be conceited about their unsearchable riches, but to trust in God, who richly provides us with everything we need for enjoyment. 18 To do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share, 19 laying up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of eternal life. 20 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, turning away from the profane and empty chatter and oppositions of false knowledge, 21 which some, professing to be of the faith, have rejected. Grace be with you. Amen.
